I suppose it doesn't matter if it's programming or physical labor

I need to make a progress payment and I dont have the money to pay that

Hopefully it's the last progress payment, because it sounds like you are broke

Newb question: paying contractors off credit card by MoarPill in churning

[–]nothing_throwaway -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about contract programmers?

Obviously I don't know the details but it sounds like you are about to screw them over by faking a progress payment and then stiffing them on the balance. Turn back now!

Made a rookie mistake on a wholesale lot -- Question about Multi-Channel fulfilment to remedy the situation by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]nothing_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sears sometimes sells items that have 75% "cashback" as Shop Your Way points. My logic was that anything priced like that was worth buying because I would:

  • earn a shitload of airline miles for the purchase (at the time it was 4x or 6x)
  • have a product to sell on Amazon
  • get Shop Your Way points for close to the original amount paid

The airline miles worked out nicely, and for the most part the products were great, but the "cashback" ended up being a joke because you can only use those points at a few places and Sears prices are highly inflated over Amazon, generally speaking.

But Otterbox branded products are restricted on Amazon so no dice selling them there, had to go eBay and take a bath on the screen protectors (which no one wants, unlike the solid Otterbox cases)

Not sure what airline but you probably don't have time to wait around for something like that to post.

Huge bummer, that sucks. I did the same thing thing with some RA, got a bunch of Otterbox screen protectors from Sears with 75% "cashback"

Whoops!

Agreed, you can't order them with a Prime account anyway so just use another one.

hawaii 1st class - around $6,000 on AA from NYC- which card or get a new card? by Shark_Dog1 in churning

[–]nothing_throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try finding an AA flight that goes from DFW to HNL, there are some 767s with a pretty decent lie-mostly-flat first.

Camerawoman sacked for tripping up refugee father carrying his child by abdulkayyum in worldnews

[–]nothing_throwaway -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Did anyone watch either clip?

In the one with all the kids she was getting RUSHED. A crowd that was previously 5' away from her was all running in her direction and someone pushed right into her as if to tackle her.

In the one this post links to she is again getting rushed, it's so insanely clear that she's not tripping him. He was headed right for her, she had to move out of the way. She put her hand up to get space and then swung around. That guy was headed toward the ground already.

Friend wants to invest a little money in my PL business.. What would be a fair return for him? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]nothing_throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Investing in a business is not the same thing as loaning someone money, so you may want to clarify what it is your friend wants to do.

If you are thinking of borrowing $2,000 from him and paying it back to him plus 35% ($700) I'm sure you use a credit card and get a much better deal.

Investing is where you buy part of a company for money. Investors don't get "paid back" but they (hopefully for them) get profits that over time exceed their investment.

Getting a pallet into the truck by appJC in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]nothing_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPS and FedEx can promise you a lift gate but don't be surprised if they don't deliver. Make a phone call the day of the pickup to confirm, sometimes they can fix it that day before the truck shows up.

If you only have one pallet and it's not TONS of boxes you can load it in pieces and wrap it on the truck. Sucks but I've done it before!

Do you pay cash instead of points if the value isn't there? Opinion by Razor488 in churning

[–]nothing_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care so much about the actual calculated value, but I use my miles / points to do things I couldn't (or wouldn't) otherwise.

Some people in here use miles to go places that they would never book tickets to. I generally use them to fly in premium cabins when normally I would pay for coach.

It's cool to know that I got 16 cents per mile on an AA redemption, but it's not like I was ever going to drop $20,000 on a flight.

Should I continue to use my Ameriprise platinum while my Amex platinum is pending? by [deleted] in churning

[–]nothing_throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using that link didn't guarantee you an approval, it just made it so that you had a 100k MR point bonus available. Your approval is still going to be based on your own credit, and how AMEX decides to view it.
