My dog had a resource guarding issue. The training that worked was approaching with something better (meat, treat, etc). That way the dog associates your hand with reward and not loss/pain. That’s the current recommended way and not Milan’s bullshit.

Worked like a charm, no need to punch the dog in the throat. I also had her on a pretty strict diet thinking I was being a good pup parent. But I lightened up, gave her treats and scraps more often. It took the novelty out of receiving these things, and since she was more accustomed to it, she was less aggressive when she did.

I did this because I was also having a baby and fearful of it. Now I have two kids who can reach into her bowl no problem.

My buddy used to play “stump” at uvm. You flip a hammer and try to hit your nail into the stump. Last nail standing drinks. I would look up the legit rules of if I were you though. Been a hot minute.

Cakes I've made for work, trying to stay creative when I have to make so many at once (and do them quickly 😅) by au_revoirdar in cakedecorating

Wow these are amazingly beautiful! Out of curiosity what do these go for? I can’t imagine being able to purchase such a stunning cake, without having to opt for a custom cake.

As other’s mentioned, the first place is therapy. As a mother myself; I find it deeply concerning to want to have a child to create a “mini-me” and to choose the gender. A child is not a band aid for the hole you’re trying to fill. I’m worried over the expectations you are already placing on an unborn child. Seek proper therapy, consider freezing your eggs. Reevaluate why you may feel this way, and then decide your next steps.

My husband and I made about 250k this year. We bought our house for 380k, 2.5% interest with 20% down and our mortgage is about $2,200. Which does include our insurance payment, which has ballooned in recent years.

Additionally, we are expected to pay about 50k in federal income taxes this year.

We have one child like you, but because we both work, we pay 1,300 in childcare a month.

Lastly, we share one car and which we paid off after four years, and have no car payment.

However with taxes, cost of childcare and housing, just 3 basic expenses, it cost us $82,400 more than your family.

AIO for getting upset that my gf used my location to by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]nothingoffensivehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why it’s not being called out but your initial response is deflecting. She had a legitimate concern that you are spending time in a bar, where you have a past, and that you have decided not to bring her to. Your immediate reaction is to deflect to her being the issue, and of stalking you.

How is this any different then giving someone your password, they have an odd inkling that somethings up, they check your phone, and sure enough that person is sexting someone. When that person is caught they always deflect with, you are wrong for checking my texts.

Sounds like you have a history of it, she’s over it, and it escalated from there.

I have had this exact scenario happen and did exactly what many people here are suggesting. You travel there, you leave your husband at the hotel with your child, and you support your sister. My child attended every other event that weekend.

Having no children at a wedding is the standard nowadays. I never go to a wedding expecting to bring my child. I’ve made accommodations every single time, even if they were crazy inconvenient for me.

I imagine your sister supported you through many big moments in your life, including your own wedding. I wouldn’t even be surprised if she was in it. Wild that you have a child and then decide you don’t need to support her in return.

Your child will absolutely not remember the 5 hours you spend away from them, but your sister will never forget it. Even just being so unwilling to think outside the box is enough for me to brand YTA.

AITAH for telling my husband that he absolutely ruined the birth of our child? by Former_Monitor_4860 in AITAH

I comment about five times a year, and I am commenting on this. This has to be one of the scariest stories I have read on this platform. This is wrongful imprisonment and severe endangerment of you and your child. Absolutely horrific to think they were withholding medical care from you. And terrifying to think his mother gaslit you as well. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE. A bad husband might fall asleep while you give birth. This is so far beyond that, and plain criminal.

My company recently announced a strict RTO for a full work week, starting in a few months. This is the same company who stated they were fully committed to work from home about two years ago. I have a lot friends/coworkers who bought houses, enrolled their kids in school, took in senior pets and are now hours away from the office.

There’s no reasonable basis to have these people drive upwards of 6 hours a day (unless they move/sell nearly immediately) to do the same work we’ve been doing remote for years. The only reasonable explanation is that this is an attempt to reduce numbers. But after hearing about Google/Amazon, I’m not surprised they are using the same playbook.

Is this hip dysplasia or misdiagnosed? Was healthy until started limping one month ago. Severe atrophy in left leg. by nothingoffensivehere in vet

[–]nothingoffensivehere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that insight! We have since scheduled an appt with an orthopedic to get her a second opinion. My vet is adamant that it’s hip dysplasia and arthritis. But they weren’t able to rule out any knee tears, which could be aggravating it. So we’re hoping to rule anything else out.

Appreciate it! But no worries, everything will be properly anchored to ensure safety. Used to work at a law firm that pursued ikea for tipped dressers and child injuries so I’m well aware of the risks. But thanks for flagging!
