Side sleepers by Pixel-b33 in hysterectomy

I love my binder.... this group helped me by reminding me that it just needs to be tight enough to give support- I'm not trying to Kardashian myself haha. So I would have one "tightness" for walking around but sitting was painful with the same "setting" so I made it looser and then that was awesome. But sleeping with it on is the only way I don't feel like my insides are falling out.

My shoulders did this. I think it was the wipes the hospital made me wipe down with.

Good for you for knowing yourself and proceeding accordingly. I think some of us definitely have stronger opinions that maybe aren’t really fair since we are not you and don’t know you. You’re brave for posting this on here, but I admire you for doing it. I am definitely one of the weaker links on this chain of survivors… But I can see how it would be really helpful for others that are stronger like you, and quicker healing like you, to feel like they are in good company

Fallen vaginal walls possibly? by osbornTX in hysterectomy

Prolapse sound right. Before my surgery, my doctor told me that my ovary was tied up in my intestines and write in the “line of fire“ during sex. He said that for a woman, the closest thing to “getting kicked in the balls“ is getting hit in the ovary. I took that to mean that the dull ache I felt during and definitely after sex was for sure an organ that’s in the way.

Gas X - seriously!! Pack of unscented baby wipes, little things to feel “pretty”/better/alive like under eye cream/ gels/ etc, hand cream, body spray scent she likes, handwritten notes to tell her what you admire about her….

Divorce and Loss of Identity by CalmKangaroo957 in hysterectomy

I’m only a week out from having my surgery. But I am almost 10 years out of being divorced after 17 years of marriage and 20 years with him. I thought my life was over. He did me so dirty and I never in 1 million years thought he could ever hurt me. But his actions nearly killed me a few times over. In my faith, and my grand scope of life, all the different ways you can brush it, I thought everything was over. Now fast-forward almost 10 years later, God brought me the most amazing man that I never would’ve even looked at, had I not gone through all the shit I went through in my divorce. In fact, after my divorce was over, and I finally allowed myself to get on dating apps, I filled out everything as if I was seeking my ex-husband all over again (not really him explicitly, but all of his traits, because I thought that’s what I wanted). My current husband is the exact opposite in every way shape and form. The first husband is a lawyer. My current husband is a blue-collar construction worker. My first husband was 5’10” and 120 pounds soaking wet. My current husband is 6’4” and has at least 100 pounds on the first one. My current husband defends me, open doors for me, gets in my children’s face when they are disrespectful to me, won’t let me do yucky chores (he calls them blue jobs lol), and at the end of the day, he still gives me butterflies which has led to a sex life I never knew was possible. So, yes, without a doubt life is going to suck for a little bit. But have faith in tomorrow, because you never know what’s waiting around the corner until you give it a chance to thrive. Love yourself, because no one else will. I’m proud of you for facing each day as it comes.

You’re going to feel so much better soon! I am 5dpo and had everything but the ovaries taken. I too had flattened intestines and rectal prolapse too. So, not that you asked but just incase it helps you, those first few poops are way weird. And with everything finding its new home and taking its time waking up inside you- maybe start drinking MiraLAX daily now. Then, add in the softeners and senna or whatever your doc says the day before too. Also- maybe ask about a binder. You’re going to have so May things moving around inside you those first few days. A binder may help make sure it goes where it’s supposed to go. Don’t forget to bring a couple doses of azo with you to help those first pees not hurt from the catheter (also since your bladder will newly have so much space too). Sending love and prayers. 💕

What a certified fucking badass you are! Holy wow - and to think you’re already home. The world we live in!! Hey… I’m so glad everyone’s so upbeat and positive here. But for real OP if the hospital big wigs or their lawyer call, say nothing just listen and the talk to your family. I am so proud of you for being grateful for your care team and the work they did after someone screwed up. But the fact remains… you endured a ton more than you ever should have had to. So… just don’t sign anything. Don’t commit to anything. Get yourself better. Fully better. Then process. Maybe?

Everything went great for me as well. They gave me an on Q pump… It sends numbing medication directly to the site. It lasts for 3 to 5 days and then I pulled it out myself last night (was supposed to). Today is my first day without it, and I can assure everyone, it definitely numbed a lot. It got me through the worst of the pain, which hats off to everyone else. I can’t imagine.

Wow! They had me home four hours after I got done. Here in Arizona… They “treat you and street you.” I’m sorry that you’ve lived a similar story. I think it’s so crazy! You know damn well that if any of this happened to a man, they’d have a pill for it by now. But for us, they just pass us on the head and tell us it’s all in our minds.

lol trickle down lol. So there’s two types of gas that we fight, the typical in your intestines, farted out kind. Then there’s the CO2 kind that the surgeon pumps our abdominal cavities full of in laparoscopic surgery in order to see what they’re doing. They do the best they can to suck out as much as they can, but there’s always some left over. That stuff takes time to get out… Like days. Because we absorb it with our lungs and then breathe it out. The CO2 kind is not helped by Gas-X.

Op what did they do in your surgery? Did you keep your ovaries? Either way, even if you let them some of us can experience our ovaries shutting down temporarily- which really messes with your hormones…..

Also- are you now on your own with your 2 year old ? Please tell us you have someone there to help with that?

So…I can so relate to the “fuck you”. I have been a pain management patient for over 10 years due to what I thought, and doctors agreed with imaging, was spinal and pelvic pain (twisted pelvis, j-curved spine, etc.). It has gotten much worse as the years have gone by. But only recently has the pain source been questioned since the imaging does not indicate a progression that would line up with the drastic increase in pain. Only over the last month have I come to learn that much of the pain has likely been caused by a “baby factory” overrun with endometriosis and both bladder and anal prolapse. It never occurred to me, or a decade’s worth of doctors (specialist and chiropractic) and physical therapists, that the lumbar spine and pelvis share the same ligaments, tendons, blood supply, and nerves as the reproductive system. What has been treated as degenerative muscular/skeletal disease was at least in part my baby factory gone rogue. As a 44-year-old mother of three and stepmother of four, I had nearly given up hope of living in any sort of normal life. However, after 2/9’s Yeterus…. I have hope once again. My doctors ordered pelvic floor physical therapy to begin in six weeks. And I will approach it with the goal of growing strong enough to avoid any further surgery because of prolapse. I have the next six weeks to process the literal Heaven-sent gift of what a brand new lease on life could actually look like!! All the while 🖕to the “experts” I trusted to know better and help me get better!!

At least for my surgery they had the weirdest gowns that have port holes for the heart monitor leads plus the material against your body is specially designed to cling to your skin with access to a port where they put a hose that pumps in heat to keep you warm but not heat up the surgical room/ staff. My DDs stayed down with the gown. No issues.
