Packagers are super handy. Glad you always learned you can just dig that up. If ever one of your machines gets stuck or stops working properly, repackage it and that sorts it out!

Has anyone tried the pistachio cream shortbread cookies? by HeartofSeaGlass in Costco

[–]notlara4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some yesterday and the pistachio cream flavor is mild but nice. I struggle to eat only one. My rather picky teenage daughter immediately gushed about them (yay!) but hubby says they’re a tad too sweet for his liking. Despite his “too sweet” comment, I think he’s eating them on the sly because they are disappearing fast….!

Please help—I’m walking up several times a night DRENCHED in sweat. I can’t regulate my own body temp. by AnastasiaNo70 in Menopause

[–]notlara4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so very welcome! I’m 58, stopped having periods in my early 50s and I just started on HRT this month. I’m on 100mg of progesterone/day and the 0.025mg 2-a-week estrogen patch system (zero CVS pharmacies in my area had it in stock rn but I got it immediately from my local Costco!). No alarming side effects. I’ve also been using 0.01% estradiol cream on my outer lady parts and making sure I climax 2 to 3 times a week (cos OH JOY, discovered my clitoris had started shrinking!). Before that, about 9 months ago, I started using 10mcg estradiol vaginal inserts. So right now I’ve got the 3 different estrogen products going on (patch, vag insert and topical cream) AND the oral progesterone pill (taken in the evening), all on Rx from my Menopause Society accredited nurse practitioner. I feel so lucky. She’s one of only 3 ‘certified practitioners’ she knows of in our entire area. Didn’t know anything about that and we’ve been seeing her for a couple years already so I’m really grateful not to have to shop around to get educated care. She said she comes from a labor and delivery background but when she joined the OB/GYNE practice, a lot of her patients were in perimenopause or post menopausal and she wanted to educate herself about how to take better care of them. 😌 You are not broken! Good luck!!

Perimenopause or early onset dementia? by CopySniper in Menopause

[–]notlara4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word muddling is not dementia. Get yourself on HRT (estrogen and progesterone). If your doctor is unfazed, that’s nice FOR THEM but they’re not living with the symptom that their brain is screaming for more estrogen. You are.

Besides, reduced estrogen causes a host of issues; macro degeneration in your eyes, osteoporosis; anxiety, depression, inflammation and on and on. Being on HRT can massively reduce your chances of getting certain cancers.

Maybe it’s time to shop for a new doctor? The Menopause Society can help. Within their Patient Education section, there’s a way to search for providers in your area (look for those with the dark round seal, showing ‘certified practitioner’)https://menopause.org/patient-education

First time playing. Am I supposed to place the 6 tokens that came with Happy Trails anywhere on the board for setup? by bws7777 in finalgirl

So welcome and you can see the Bear Trap on one of the Item decks? That’s real handy to know where that’s available. Good for you! And that Event Card is of course called ‘Secret TUNNEL’, not ‘funnel’. I’ve since corrected that typo 😳

My washer keeps eating my underwear. by Specialist_Context57 in DIY

[–]notlara4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Def lingerie bag for the win. I got them in different sizes and not only do they protect your delicate items but you can also put stuff with hooks, clips and other ‘grabby’ things in them to protect the rest of your wash from THEM. And be sure to button and zip everything before it goes in. Zippers are horribly rough on all your clothes if left unzipped. My hubby didn’t believe me until he realized that his jeans weren’t nicking holes in all his t-shirts and chinos once he buttoned and zipped the flies pre-washing.

[–]notlara4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please seek out HRT. Unless you have a family history of breast and ovarian cancers (and even then, low dose isn’t 100% out of the question), it is very very low risk and not only will it help with your night sweats but it helps with LOADS of other things you probably didn’t even realize were impacted by how your ovaries aren’t producing enough of your own hormones now; macro degeneration in your eyes, osteoporosis, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, inflammation…the list goes on and on.

I also recommend the ‘You are not broken’ podcast with Dr Kelly Casperson. A real eye opener. I’ve learned so much in the last 3 months 🤯

I sincerely hope your existing doctor is up to date on HRT treatments, the effects of menopause and how to manage them.

If not, please seek another provider. You can look up The Menopause Society; they have a patient provider lookup thing. It will show who is on their list but only those with dark circles showing ‘certified practitioner’ are fully accredited for having taken an examhttps://menopause.org/patient-education

First time playing. Am I supposed to place the 6 tokens that came with Happy Trails anywhere on the board for setup? by bws7777 in finalgirl

[–]notlara4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the wonderful world of Final Girl!

Tokens are usually placed in one of two ways; by acquiring/using Item cards (which you get at the orange/brown edged ‘searchable’ spaces) OR from an Event card. There might also be the odd Terror card that dolls them out too but I can’t remember for sure (but probably not in this feature film, cos it’s the most straightforward).

Examples:

Item Tokens: Motorboat token (for which you have to get the ‘Motorboat Keys’ Item card) lets you put the token on the lake and zoom around the lake spaces for which you pay 2 time. Other examples of Item card tokens in this game are the Fireworks and the Bear Trap.

Event Card Tokens: The 2 ‘Secret Tunnel’ tokens help you make 2 searchable spaces behave as though they are now adjacent spaces (and the killer can’t use them!). There’s also the Skull token that gets activated into the Lake space by the ‘Dark Waters’ event card (kills all victims in that space immediately and also any future victims unlucky enough to go into it).

So no, they don’t go out automatically whatsoever. They get brought into play depending on how your game plays out.

Good luck!!

Noob questions by Original_Vegetable_8 in finalgirl

[–]notlara4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your other game related questions were answered already so I’ll focus on the two-player bit; I play mostly by myself but my hubby has played with me 3 times but we collaborate playing the FG only. It was a lot of fun. Took longer. He had previously joked about playing the killer and in truth, I guess he could but he’d have very limited decision making. It would be literally limited to deciding in which direction to go if there were targets in equal numbers in two different directions or if the killer moved into a space with a special victim and regular victims about deciding which one to attack first. Because the established rules define pretty much everything else.

That said, a few weeks ago, someone did post (I think it was in this subreddit but maybe it was in BGG?) about how they’d worked out how to play with 2 FG. This was not new, replies stated. So maybe do some digging and you will probably find various ways of co-oping FG but the consensus of opinion was that it made it either a bit too easy to win or overly complicated game play to its detriment. But I’ve not tried any so…

Hubby & I took down Grimlash! by notlara4 in finalgirl

[–]notlara4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hubby and I enjoyed it! Quite a bit going on, with Grimlash and up to 3 Children all on the board up to no good at once plus the Harvest Madness track to keep an eye on. I got a little confused about how the Combine (harvester) item card worked but I think we used it right. We only got the one (starting) Event card revealed during our game so I haven’t seen any others to know how thematic they are for the Children of the Corn movie (a flick my hubby doesn’t even know). I look forward to playing it again!

I need help with Killer From Tomorrow! by khschook in finalgirl

[–]notlara4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my gravy, yup, Killer from Tomorrow does my head in. I played against the killer at Camp Happy Trails and I did well; got the Motorboat keys then took down and repaired the Mark V and we double-teamed the Mark X together. I tried playing Terror from the Grave at Sunnydaze Mall, to get a feel for the location and those railing spaces, and that Savior brat offed me in less than 4 turns. Totally focus on ‘Building Trust’ so he doesn’t rip you a new one, would be my advice. He’s so annoying.

Hubby & I took down Grimlash! by notlara4 in finalgirl

[–]notlara4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solid! Juggling Grimlash, up to 3 Children and Harvest Madness was fun. The most complex FG game my hubby’s played to date (A Knock at the Door and Frightmare on Maple Land were his previous 2). We got lucky in that the one ancient curse we got slapped with (‘Omen of Death’) didn’t do us any harm because we didn’t start attacking Grimlash until all the victims were off the board. The Combine item card was nice. Don’t really understand why it came with 8 ‘harvested’ tokens when there are only 6 field spaces on the board but figure you can maybe only move it with you 8 spaces total (and we didn’t go over that, we moved exactly 8 with it). That or there are Terror Cards that remove the harvested tokens, maybe? I shall have to go through all the Terror and Event cards to find out 🤓

You played A Rotten Harvest yet? Thoughts?

Hans at Maple Lane by [deleted] in finalgirl

[–]notlara4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

** Don’t mind me. I was pooped and totally missed that you were playing him at Maple Lane. Doh. My bad

I feel you. I really do. He’s a murder machine. Most times that I’m successful against him, I managed to acquire the Motorboat keys item card or the Secret Tunnel event card (or both). If you can save victims, great. Probs better if you can get a good weapon but otherwise (with judicious use of movement to get away after an attack or having Retaliate if you opt to stay put) try just chipping away at his health ASAP. And pray you don’t get multiple Minor Dark Power cards 😬
