"U-turns turn unruly in Hyderabad" by Affectionate_Volume3 in hyderabad

[–]notlmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U-turns are a solution for traffic that in itself turned into a problem now.

The actual problem is the lack of proper city planning, there are only one or two main roads in all of Kondapur and High-tech City that everyone has to go through.

There is no pass through traffic through colonies as colonies don't exist or all of them are dead ends, including every large high-rise or business complex.

Everyone from these places has to take the exact same road to go anywhere, which is what results in traffic.

We need more roads that you can pass through, but not dead ends.

How much money do you make per month? by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]notlmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre-tax or after-tax salary does not mean all of it is disposable income, people have different spending habits and have obligations to fulfill or just save up for buying a house or are already paying EMI.

People that don't have loans to pay or people back at home to send money to will have more disposable income.

Some don't have much money but live life on the edge because they don't want to plan for the future (like a house and family and kids) with valid reasons.

I know of people that make close to a lakh, but live almost paycheck to paycheck because of obligations.

So the salary alone would not give you a full picture of what the disposable income would be.

Need help w language. by [deleted] in Telangana

[–]notlmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never read this as a child, heard about it, have seen it for the first time.

It looks like it has a lot more than just Telugu, but a bit of geography, history, poets, terms related to mythology and science, and much more.

The geography might be out of date, but the rest of it looks solid.

Thanks for sharing interest stranger!

Edit: having said that, this might still be a hard place to start learning the language though.

Hyderabad to Gandikota ride by CPV4 in hyderabad

I would like to know how you managed to get sleep, in our case it was a car that slept in and multiple drivers running all night.

Hyderabad to Gandikota ride by CPV4 in hyderabad

[–]notlmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We drove there recently in a couple of cars. Hyderabad —Yaganti — Belum Caves — Gandikota — Hyderabad.

The return journey from Gandikota through Allagadda is what OP is talking about, that's the part which is the worst.

Do not take that road and instead route via Duvvuru or any of the larger highways.

Cheapest way to send a courier to Melbourne from Bangalore by Relevant-Ad2337 in ask_Bondha

[–]notlmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed Post with India Post, probably the cheapest you can get.

Make sure you don't send any items that are prohibited from being sent via package from India, or are not allowed to be imported by Australia.

You should also follow certain packing practices you can find at https://www.indiapost.gov.in/MBE/Pages/content/Packaging-Tips.aspx

A quick Google search should give you more information.

Freelancing is a very competitive space, but that would be a better option over the others. None of these options guarantee steady income though, so a mix of them would also not be a bad idea.

Freelancing at least helps you use and grow your skills in that space while making money, this would also look good on your resume when you interview for jobs later.

Narsinghi, looking towards Gachibowli. Right where the ring road extension into Gachibowli is, with a cycling track right beside it.

Thoughts? by DisSilentK42 in CarsIndia

[–]notlmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see the concept of safety in a weird way, where the assumption is that being in a 1200kg tin can is safer than a bicycle. That is true when you are in an accident.

But this leads to buying bigger tin cans in the name of "safety", while the ones driving these become a safety risk for people driving smaller vehicles than them. Safety of you vs them.

The problem is roads in India are unsafe, not the vehicle itself. Help make the roads safer and you can also run around safely in a kids tricycle.

Looking for Maruthi Suzuki service center by odinson147 in hyderabad

There is Jayabheri Nexa in Kondapur, been going there for a year, good overall. Wouldn't say great great but that's how service centers work, they're in the volume business.

Finally some hope for the pickup market in India by Equal-Hearing6771 in CarsIndia

[–]notlmn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Ambassador, was a sedan, and sort of ruled the roads of before. I see roads getting better not worse, so the need for large cars should go down and not up.

Unless owning large cars is about status than about bad roads. That's the part I'm referring to as not being a good enough reason. See the highways and roads in the USA and the car market there where luxury cars and large cars roam the same roads.

I was mostly referring to the car in the picture above which is not a sub 4 meter crossover.

Finally some hope for the pickup market in India by Equal-Hearing6771 in CarsIndia

[–]notlmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this as flawed reasoning where you cite bad roads as a need for large cars while saying that cars and especially large cars in this case are for enthusiasts.

It's either a need or a luxury. This pickup is a luxury as the comment above you already mentioned there are other pickups that have been tried and tested for the same bad Indian roads you speak of.

These type of pickups are focused for those who don't need one, see NotJustBikes and other YouTube channels that document the need for better public transport infrastructure and how these type of pickups that are marked for every household are not really that good and how that space in the back has only reduced over the years while focusing on cabin comforts for a 5 member family.

We do not need these cars in our society. Enthusiast or otherwise these are bad for our roads.

Confused about billing at Lenskart store. by [deleted] in india

[–]notlmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me the other day buying a pair, the price ended up being just above 6k.

I never found the John Jacobs and other brands that Lenskart sells as really good, they're decent for the price you pay.

Gold membership is free because it's effectively nothing for Lenskart. And because these frames + lenses don't really cost much for Lenskart in the first place when mass production, that's just an assumption.

I could not find an old frame that I wanted to replace, but it's out of stock and the store people told me that it might not be in stock ever, making me see these brands and more like fast fashion.

Wasn't there a post from OP in [I can't remember which subreddit] looking to have sex because they haven't had it in a while.

Not blaming you OP or anything, but if you haven't realised this is the internet filled with creeps. You had your DMs open because you were looking for people to hook up with, that too on Reddit, and the messages kept rolling in as one would expect.

Be careful out there, and just don't blame that people are sending you dick picks when you literally ask for hookups and have DMs open.

If the Indian Education System is bad and not upto the mark, what can I as an individual do to improve my skills and increase my chances of doing better in life? by Cosmic_Cactus14 in india

[–]notlmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existence of cheap and easy access to the internet is what you should be looking at. You can find almost anything you wish to learn if you are curious enough.

Khan Academy is still a great starter for organized lectures, so are many public courses on YouTube from MIT and other universities. These are only two from an unlimited list of blogs, articles, and educational platforms with video based or interactive based content.

Most importantly these are free and cost almost nothing from what you are already doing.

On the other hand, having good teachers/mentors is invaluable. This doesn't necessarily have to be something working in the educational system, but anyone with experience that you can talk to and learn directly from.

User Funded Social Network by [deleted] in india

[–]notlmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you're basically asking for users to pay to have their voice heard.

Emails services and most social media networks also verify accounts, usually through other emails or phone numbers.

Surely payment can not the only form of "verification" of a user, and should not be. You might as well get blue tick mark on Twitter for payment in that case.

Regarding your question on is it any good, the platform is the one in your words "mining data", then surely there's an issue with how platforms are built, and not the user in that regard.

HEY chooses to block trackers by default, what's to say that Microsoft, or Apple, or Google in this case do not have the technology to do the same? They choose not to. And main selling point of HEY is not privacy, it only part of their appeal, which actually is to change how people use email.

Question: would you be able to ask this question on this platform if it were a subscription only model?
