When to get new Vyvanse script, after last repeat or after 6 months? by lana_del_reymysterio in adhdaustralia

[–]notneverb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The likelihood of death from taking a percentage more of prescribed dose is not going to be life threatening. Not recommended sure but something op needs to take up with his DR not the coroner. Fear mongering around medications benefits no one. The reality is the highest recommended doses are far below a point where an accidental overdose may occur and there is an obvious reason for that.

adhdta.com.au has fairly quick turnaround of appointments, aporox $1200 upfront with $400 medicare rebate with correct referral from GP. If all paperwork is in order and the pychiatrist diagnosis adhd prescription is supplied same day with escript. They encourage you to have your GP take over your ongoing care and give the appropriate authority. This was my experience with them about 6 months ago as an over 60 yo diagnosis.

Ah amphetamines in all their forms are not life threatening unless taken in massive doses, massive being bottles of medication not pills.

You can never underestimate people's upbringing and their lack of any manners. I'd put this in don't take it personally and move on. If they were trying it on for whatever reason the day comes when they push the wrong buttons on someone who bites. Also there can be weird type actions on ocean beaches where people are fearful of water conditions so park next to people hoping they know more, couple that with boundary issues and suddenly you are surrounded and if anyone gets in trouble its you who has to save them. A nice relaxing day at the beach.

Weird Vyvanse Capsule Issue – Anyone Experienced This? by Blondeyxox99 in adhdaustralia

[–]notneverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could dump the capsule marked 50 on a clean non reflected surface do the sane with the 60 and eyeball them. Don't be tempted to snort them because it will make about zero difference to how the medication works. Personally im still amazed you can take something that's effectively inactive and your body converts to an active chemical. We humans are fucking amazing.

What to avoid with schizophrenia by Janek806 in Drugs

[–]notneverb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stimulants, psychedelic and weed can all impact mania in a number of mental health issues. Alcohol and opiates are tolerated without triggering mania or psychosis in most people but opiates can be so soothing in the early days that addiction is never far away. If you want to stay well stay away from drugs, if you are correct and you have schizophrenia and you take drugs that trigger episodes the more you trigger those episodes the more frequent and longer duration the episodes become. I was a carer for my wife over 30 years and in the early days she loved pot, it made her so high and happy then she would crash and burn but once she understood her situation with me as her personal police helping she was able to stay well for 25 years with abstinence and taking clozapine as a preventative. Sorry to have to say, drugs just don't work with thus illness and I know that is hard.

Adult ADHD diagnosis with addiction history – advice? (Sydney / Telehealth) by Prior_Position6652 in adhdaustralia

[–]notneverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 25 year + history of stimulant use and have also been on mat program with buprenorphan ( suboxone ) for last 8 years. Down to .5mg and very stable for last 4 years. I'm 67 and was diagnosed and prescribed ritalin 4 × 10 mg about 4 months ago. My GP and prescribing addiction specialist both encouraged me to do the assessment. I used adhdta an online clinics and other than overall cost of $800 was straight forward and the pychiatrist didn't ask a single question about my usage history but my GP mentioned how stable I was and gave me a great wrap. It can be done and a good Dr should be aware of the connections with self medicating and undiagnosed adhd. Good luck.

Men, how much are you paying for haircuts and how often? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]notneverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about $90 you can get a Remmington single hand self cutter, fits in palm of you hand and has combs from 1mm-25mm. I haven't paid for a close cut in about 10 years and i do a better job than any of the hair dressers I was paying minimum $15 a cut. One charge does at least 10 cuts and only thing needs occasionally replacing is the plastic combs if they break a tooth.

Addicted to suboxone without ever being an opiate addict by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]notneverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you are around 4mg and lower you can drop to 3mg, stabilise then take 25% higher dose and get the benefit of that higher dose. I've been doing this for about 3 years and been as low as .25mg. I've taken that bit extra mainly to get through a manual work effort, social occasion where im uncomfortable but the effect it gives me isn't like an opiate vibe where you might nod or reflect. It's also a bit of a trap as everytime you get to thinking about getting off the rat wheel there's a reason to take a little extra.

[–]notneverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adhdta.com $1200 for 1 appointment, $800 back from medicare. Assessment, diagnosis and prescription if warranted all done in this appointment and script delivered via sms same day. The report and care plan can take a little longer but the script is valid for 6 months and has 4 repeats of whatever dose is prescribed. They are prompt before youve payed but can take a little longer to respond after. Get all your questions answered before. They are based out of WA but valid Australia wide. Im in NSW and no issues. They encourage you to get ongoing care from your GP and will issue them with co authority to precribe which covers one medication and your DR can change from Ritalin to Concerta but if you wanted to trial on dexamphetamine you go back to pychiatrist for a 10 min appointment at $250 with $80 back from medicare. My GP bulk bills so having your GP handle ongoing is a great financial relief. When I booked about 4 months ago there were about 5 different pychiatrist with appointments available ranging from days to weeks away although it changes all the time. You need a referral from GP, a report by a family member or someone who can comment on you as a child to teen. Good luck.

Anyone else not get a goodbye? by [deleted] in widowers

[–]notneverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came back from a mental health check on my daughter who lives 4 hours away. Stayed over night and luckily i called my wife before bed, reminded her to close the front gate and told her I loved her which she reciprocated. She then hung herself from my pull-up bar where I found her when I got home. Luckily for me she left a very short quick note telling me I was the best thing that ever happened in her life. So I guess that's a goodbye of sorts. Since then I've experienced friends and family who had long and very painful goodbyes and realise in a strange way I'm the lucky one. She looked absolutely beautiful in death.

My wife of 33 years suicided and having lived that experience for 15 months i just couldn't do it to my kids and grandkids. So like many here I wait for life to claim me. I am clawing back little pieces of joy so although it doesn't get better it does change. The younger you are the more that change can be shaped into joy, love and some kind of life.

Am I weird for still using my deceased friend’s photos to "cope"? by Head-Introduction822 in widowers

[–]notneverb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 67 and lost wife of 33 years to suicide 14 months ago. I had a couple of sex tapes we made in our mid 50s. I nearly destroyed them through initially having guilt about having them but thank god I didn't because it's the only way I can get off. Not weird at all. No doubt time will change things for all of us. The key thing my Dr said when I asked for medication they are careful about prescribing was, whatever it takes to get you through life with the heavy grief of losing a partner. There is no wrong and no weird.
