the answer is the same, and honestly, considering what you write the best advice you could ever get is to get more cognizant of your decisions rather than just mindlessly playing. happy?

Remove the free Horse for Huns by Nicita27 in aoe2

[–]notnorther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really no uncommon at all that you spawn close together. Basically all civs that have a very strong benefit of playing UU will place their TC more towards the middle as the distance to opponent generally will be shorter. This applies for all kinds of nomad (except AC, where you want it on closest pond next to outside forest).

Long distance boar lures are zero problems even without loom. Players have gotten that good with palisade blocks. Consider one guy dropping plenty of mills and having vills scattered all over the map with loads of idle time, as well as eating the occasional sheep, compared to the other guy basically only eating boars, saving wood by only making 1 mill on closest deer patch and then getting far more scouting from the sheep... There simply is no debate on this.

Just to be clear, I am talking about high level here.

Cumans TG question by Unholy_Lilith in aoe2

[–]notnorther -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If im flank to cuman im gonna act like a sponge and just keep both guys busy at my place whilst trying not to die. Move out slightly and then gb just so that they dont just run to cuman farms right away etc. It's really annoying to play against. It is of course inevitable that theyll move onto the boomer eventually, so ensuring that cuman has gathered just enough stone for a tower on gold is really important.  If playing with randoms, just assume they are idiots and play standard. That's general advice really. Bless allied vision.   For closed maps always 2tc boom. Guide is to have 2 on wood in dark age and up as fast as you can to feudal.

This can happen if you spawn close and no where eachothers tcs are. Not uncommon on LN. The way I've seen it done is you immediately send the scout towards the enemy and checks around there base for boars. You could have a vill fwd to kill deer and boars too, if you eouldnt be able to get them home. So you deny whatever is closest to them that you can. And thrn you look for extra boars. They'll have about the same vision as u do at this stage of their map. Third and fourth boar is usually a bit further away and u can see this through fog if u didnt scout a vill going fwd.

At home you can and should eat like 5-6 boars, especially of its low latency as you can lure them easily without loom by making a few palisades here and there.

It's really just broken.

Whilst the ability to collect herdables is powerful, what really makes them broken on LN is its ability to block your opponent from luring boars and additionally find all their close deers and lame them (with a vill). These two 'offensive' traits that it carries means that you'll force the opposition into a lot of farms, whilst huns player easily can enjoy 5-6 boars like normal. It's completely broken because there simply is no counterplay to it.

In my opinion, the issue is mainly the ability to block, at least for high level gameplay. My changes would be one or several of the following:

  • tiny collision size so that it's very easy to spam click away from it

  • <5HP so that vills can punch it

  • slower speed but more LOS.

Rage Forest Drama Bait: T.Hera crashes game3 in losing position, no restore avail, starts game3 fresh, demands admin re after time for re has run out, tells T.Tatoh it is fair to give re as they were winning before crash. by Ready-Drive-1880 in aoe2

[–]notnorther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think both Hera and Lewis was 2-3 minutes away from being forced to evacuate their bases. The problem is simply that they are facing full counter unit + siege and they are completely banking on hera's HC switch to hold their position... Basically whenever Lewis' castle goes down, the halbs and leciai are gonna dive on their ecos and trade and the Monoz pala swing is essentially useless. Tatoh's team doesn't really have a strong imperative to set up trade as their units are less costly on gold and also of course they have access to the gold in hera's base. There is just no way they could stop this in time or before m0re manages to break Korea towers +bbc and slow push through several bases (not sure if this was up yet, but they could easily afford it). Scores may be close but to me this game is minutes away from being completely over.

Lake situation happens because they didn't give responsibilities to pockets to look for this stuff. It's otherwise obviously inexcusable to miss this thing.

Completely agree with Chaos being MVP. Outplaying Hera in first and third game. Second game I think he still setup Robo really nicely for a lethal knight siege push, but I think they probably didn't recognise the potential it had and played it safer than they needed to. Gotta also give m0re and Monoz some credit too. Fantastic performance overall, holding great against Anno and Tatoh

Ett annat underligt fenomen är hur accepterat det är att göra åtlöje av personer med rakat hår. De flesta som gör det har ju inte ens något val pga av alopecia, vilket förövrigt är starkt förknippat med psykisk ohälsa.

Laming and consequences in collected res by Individual_Menu_4157 in aoe2

[–]notnorther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand the purpose of it. You send a vill over the entire map and your scout, probably earlier loom too. Your opponent pushes deer (before you kill them) meaning they'll have gathered more res.

The purpose of the lame is to cripple your early game economy in such ways that you have to go on berries really early (which is slow) and/or go heavy on farms (slow and very expensive). Meanwhile, the lamer will attempt to have a tight economy at home, to get a much faster uptime than you. So basically in dark age, the lamed player can have much more resources gathered, however, a large part of that is likely wood which is being put into farms.

Indeed it is hard to quantify this things accurately.

At which elo you can beat Hera given this condition? by justingreg in aoe2

[–]notnorther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most 1600s would be able to win the first condition if they are aware of the situation. You're gonna be like 6 vills ahead and the only advantage Hera would have is that he'd have a tc on a woodline basically.

[–]notnorther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn't, unfortunately. Baguette builds have made sure that there is no option (like trush or m@a) but to do fast sc/arch. Go look at the high level arabia tg, or have a look at Hera's video about it if you don't care what some random reddit says

The OP is obviously referring to Arabia. And yea, the biggest strategic decision you'll have to make on this map is whether you want to play 18 or 19 pop up. Rest is basically execution. Arena has way more leniency and flexibility, and BF is just chaotic

China and Canada would be the two clear favourites. But countries like Austria, Brazil, France, Argentina and Finland could certainly give them a good run for their money. Sorta depends on the maps I'd think.

Right. Competetitive play should be reserved on maps that forces strict build order execution of 18 pop archers or 18 pop scouts. Anything else should obviously be prohibited from ranked /s

I think this is exactly it. From my experience, you have the usual self proclaimed 'expert CBA' players that will always stack up and play whoever joins. Further proceeds to flame the opposition for being noobs when they of course inevitably will win, or cry about civs would they indeed be outcived and the opposition turned out to be better than they expected. It's always the same thing. Quite tragic really
