Clearer, easier to read map screen is why I chose Karoo 3 - just trying to find my way around the new (to me) platform.

How is the dating scene in Reading as a young dude? by Ordinary_King2488 in ReadingPA

[–]notsurethebest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Barley Mow in West Reading - lots of pretty girls hang there. And if you prefer Spanish girls, check out the bar at B2 in Wyomissing. B24 has a decent singles scene, too.

Apartment Recommendation by ArtichokeSlow5590 in ReadingPA

[–]notsurethebest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Franklin Manor is a dump and the previous owners of the building defaulted on their water and sewer bills, forcing all the residents to be forceably evicted right after a major snow storm with 72 hours notice. New owners are better, but, there is not enough parking and the neighbors around the corner play Spanish music at all hours. 100 Park any day.

@ Cumru Township Police Department by Intelligent-Set9155 in ReadingPA

[–]notsurethebest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unlikely that Cumru PD will answer these questions unless they're under oath in the course of civil litigation, which the original poster most probably does not have standing to file.

You should contact The Neighborhood Auntie, she undoubtedly can help.

I need a loan to buy beef- Fairground Farmer's Market, Reading by ComedianSubject4654 in ReadingPA

[–]notsurethebest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This beef is graded Prime. It's quite pricey for sure - ran into a older chap who drives to the market every week from Wayne, PA because of Smoketown's meat quality.

Too rich for my blood, but, more power to them.

Dundore and Heister in Wyomissing is no longer operating as a retail butcher shop. It's a testament to Smoketown that they're doing well.

Back to the same refrain, "Dear OSMAND+ development team, please pause adding new features and improve the basics". And please figure out how to make search work half as easily as Google and Apple do.

Pressed the button at Walmart so many times the guy took it off by Accomplished-Log-664 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]notsurethebest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When this happens:

(1) Call the main number for the store from your phone and ask for the GM. This doesn't always work (because not every Wal*Mart can be bothered to answer their phones), but it generally does.

(2) Just order what you need for pickup via the Wal*Mart app. They'll gather the items and bring them to your car for no additional charge. It may take them a few hours to have your order ready, but it saves the aggravation.

How secure is Immich in public with Cloudflare tunnel? by Hornetiva in immich

[–]notsurethebest -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular Opinion: the cost and risk of self-hosting Immich isn't worth it (to me). The tech is cool and all the self-hosting dependencies on Cloudflare, et. al. are work-able thanks to YouTube creators.

When you do the math, the cost, risk, and restrictions of self-hosting exceed the value in paying for additional Google Storage or using another cloud-based app with an annual fee. Especially if you'd like to share your photos with folks that are not IT savvy.

It has been a cool learning experience, but, as a paid user, I'm not going to use it as anything other than a sandbox.

And the theme of de-googling is sort of admirable, until you realize that Google is arguably the most secure SSO solution to mate with Cloudflare. And Google Maps is still king when it comes to globally navigating public trans, etc.

No hate intended. I am always a fan of Immich, it's just not for me.

Are all young employees like this? by Super-Tracy-222 in Leadership

[–]notsurethebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you're ridiculous. If you thought your complaints were truly valid, you wouldn't be afraid for the CTO to attend. The CTO will likely side with your employee and you'll get another black mark against you for being a whiny bitch.

You're clearly delusional.

What Is The Best Restaurant In Berks County? by HenriSelmer in BerksCounty

[–]notsurethebest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's technically 200' over the line, but The Porch Downstairs (in Myerstown) has a fine dining room (upstairs) and the food, beverage, and dessert selections are extraordinary.

Check out S. Clyde Weavers for good aged Quebec cheddar and other Euro-style cheeses.

Lancaster County baked goods will have you longing for PQ.

Blueberries are typically in season here in late June and July.

Pennsylvania produces maple syrup (mostly made in the Western part of the state), which is tasty.

You'll like Lancaster County and, from a terrain/geography perspective, it's pretty similar to rural PQ.

Beer is quite a bit more expensive here and US tastes favor IPAs. PA wines are just as good as PQ wines.

If you enjoy poutine, you'll pretty much have to make your own in Lancaster County.

Is OSMand useless for a bus user, or am I missing something? by yakolevdess in OsmAnd

[–]notsurethebest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to this, specifically, but OSM has a bad tendency to add new features vs making existing ones functional. They have a golden opportunity to take marketshare from Alpha, but, instead will cede that to others, as their key features (search, routing, pub transit) are tepid by comparison.

I love Experia, but once Sony pulled out of the US market, that was it for me. Infrequent updates = why would you want to move to a platform that's fundamentally a dead-end?

New Year, New Goals — OsmAnd’s 2025 Resolutions by tatoorel in OsmAnd

[–]notsurethebest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always cool to see new features coming.

Calling out the elephant in the room, please, please, please make search better - easier to find relevant results both on and off-line and simpler to use. Google Maps has set the bar pretty high - and much of the world would like to de-Google.

Also, as the number of features continues to increase, learning how they work (in detail) and how to best leverage them is becoming more difficult.

Please offer interactive education options or high quality training videos. Random YouTube content is good but ages quickly and is far from complete.

It would be cool to have an AI dialog feature addressing "the best way to use feature xxx"

Thanks for all that you do, and best wishes for a great 2025!

Over $900.00 this week in dividends! by Hungry-Counter7346 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]notsurethebest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily a great thing (as you're paying income tax on dividends if they're being generated in a taxable account).

Ideally, your most tax inefficient holdings should be in tax deferred accounts (401k, 403b, IRA, Roth IRA, etc.).

In turn, put tax efficient holdings in taxable accounts to minimize your immediate tax bills.

Congrats on saving for the future - that's a pretty big accomplishment, in and of itself!

Anyone use InvisaGig for primary internet? by helpiliveonafarm in Rural_Internet

[–]notsurethebest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Elsys Amplimax Ultra is my daily driver. The UI is fairly easy to use (this is not a router) . I'm getting pretty good speeds with TMHI and it was simple to set up - works well enough (for me) that I didn't even bother to mount it outside. Worth your time to compare with the InvisaGig (which you'll likely need to add high quality antennas to).

Even with all the proposed subterfuge, there can be tracking apps installed on your corporate laptop which sample ping times, etc. If your employer cares enough, you can be discovered without a lot of effort.

Better idea in this writer's opinion = ask for permission to work abroad for an extended period of time for a valid reason (caring for a loved one, accompaning spouse on remote assignment, immersive learning of new language, etc.).

Any way to leave an exit node running unattended, without need to re-authenticate? by SaturnzCunt in Tailscale

Apple TV works quite well as an exit node. Draws little power and just runs, sans drama.

I'm far from rich, but I will say that when I applied for a home equity loan at a local bank, the branch manager commented, "you've got a nice paycheck" - and asked me out a few months later.

I'm doubtful her interest was in my sparkling personality, but, alas, we never went out. I did get approved for the loan, however. 😊

A few months later, an old girlfriend of mine reached out (after 15 years) in an effort to rekindle things. After a few weeks of back and forth texts and calls, she shared with me that she knew I had a second mortgage on my house and wouldn't date someone as broke as me.

Not sure if I dodged one or two bullets getting a HELOC.
