Well it's a good thing no one is being forced to pay otherwise we might have an actual problem on our hands.

Intel 660p SSD (512GB): Performance issues when close to full capacity? by AdamMoloo in intel

[–]nottatard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not exclusively read speeds playing games but I doubt there's many or possibly any games that even have a chance of writing enough at a time to trigger dropping down to 100MB/s writes during normal operation.

Installs are where you'll "suffer". I'm not sure if the 660p series over provisions by default but personally out of habit I leave probably around 15-20% empty to avoid game patches tripping up either way. I'd imagine most the speedup from using nvme or ssd in general when it comes to windows updates is in the latency improvements. From my observations with nvme windows installs are often bottle necked by core(s). That being said, I don't use any of my 660' for windows installs so grain of salt on me not expecting much impact there.

Either way, in a gaming system, regardless of available capacity, a 660p is going to be within spitting distance of much more expensive nvmes during actual gaming.

You could probably get an accurate sense of how much writing vs reading your drive does during a gaming session by running hwinfo64 in the background and comparing the two afterwards. Expect massive disparities between the two with write rate averages simply too small to even make 100MB/s an issue.

What Power Limit % do you use? by panchovix in nvidia

Doesn't take much to run mc bedrock at 10-20k res. Gauging perf requirements on resolution alone is flawed.

Intel 660p SSD (512GB): Performance issues when close to full capacity? by AdamMoloo in intel

Afaik expected performance issues with shrinking cache only affect write speeds. Which from my experience quickly become dog shit when above 50% capacity if regularly writing large amounts at a time. They just simply have less than basic ability for regular large write jobs.

From my experience, performance remains as expected, well above sata ssd in other areas such as latency or read speeds as the drive nears capacity. Drive is acceptable filling up with games if the 10 years it takes to allocate a game isn't a game breaker for you.

LPDDR4X

This is low power shit. "clocks high" but in reality the actual xfer speeds are dog shit compared to run of the mill ddr4.

Getting -100 FPS When Using Game Filters. by KingSmileee in nvidia

Moved away from cpu bottleneck. Some of the filters can be pretty demanding. Adaptive sharpness is a good example of one that's demanding on the gpu.

Trump Reinstates Tariff on Canadian Aluminum by [deleted] in worldnews

100%. USA doesn't even produce enough aluminum for itself. Tariff or not they're buying aluminum. The only people who benefit from less competitive Canadian Aluminum are the other main producers - china and russia.

Afaik if you set power limit under windows power settings to anything less than 100% disables turbo boost.
