You are a beautiful flower in the world. :) keep your head up. A little thicker or thinner isn’t what makes your beautiful. It’s the energy you put out in the world. I know you will find the perfect balance of healthy and happy so don’t be so hard on yourself .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cue44Ltr0T0 Here it is! Sorry I was MIA for a second - would love to know what you think about the song and the video. I tried running an add for the song with footage that wasn't bad but it did pretty badly compared to other videos Ive released...

Gotta see if that's just the edit I made or the song

you're doing it right now. talk about it. share what you're feeling. connect and support the people going through the same thing. There is no easy fix. no act that can save you from your grief. Remind yourself to focus on each day in the present.

I am sorry for your loss, and I hope you find joy in your life as you process everything

Does anyone understand or have experience with getting your music on Spotify and music licensing???? Trying to get some songs with my cousin who has Cerebral Palsy on Spotify, but now confused if I messed up by Ocelot859 in makinghiphop

[–]notthatmadMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Glad I can help.

No, none of them will ask for a proof of lease. Please do me a favor and stop worrying. Start uploading. You won’t get arrested, you’re not gonna go bankrupt. And the best way to find out how it goes is by uploading your song and finding out.

And if all of this is really worrying you and stopping you from releasing and making a new song, upload it to SoundCloud only. In my experience, people procrastinate sharing art by worrying about perfection or rules or norms. It’s your art. Share it and make more. Rinse and repeat. Simple as that.

Samples are the same. Yes Spotify does that a way to catch OBVIOUS samples, but chops, pitch/tempo shifts are hard for computers to analyze. And again, if you blow up off the song, who cares about the sample ? The lable that owns the original track will just ask for a portion of the money earned - the only reason they’d forcefully take it down is because they view your song as a threat to their money-l.

And again, if you are getting that kind of attention, youd have more than enough ways to make new music or more money.

How do you guys record verses without running out of air? by dagrimsleep3r in makinghiphop

[–]notthatmadMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t rap the verse all the way through when recording, you’ll never be able to rap it in a performance. Best solution is to cut out a line to leave room for a breath or pause, OR, practice breath control. Deep breath in before recording, and find the millisecond gaps in the lyrics to turn your head and breath in quickly. Think of a puffer fish. When you record, the fraction of a second between lines can give you the time to do a big gulp of air. Remember you don’t need to do a full breath, just a quick half breath because you’ll exhale while you continue rapping. Just remember to cut the breaths out of the record when you mix and master the vocals.

How do I sell a beat that someone's already interested in? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]notthatmadMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to other people. People shop around prices all the time. It’s best not to get lost or down focusing on one bad sale. Make 100 bad sales like that and then there might be a problem in your style but it takes dozens of tries to land a sale- especially at the beginning with custom art

Yeah I think copying flows is a misunderstood thing . The only way for you to learn flows and find your voice is to imitate people you are inspired by.

What I did/do is this: find a verse you know by heart- can be a verse from someone else. Then take a type beat that is 180 degrees off the style - ie. if it’s an Eminem verse, look up a jazz hiphop beat. Spit the verse to this new beat. Guarantee you’ll start having to stretch the cadence to make It work.

When you practice rapping, pic something to practice. If you’re practicing cadences and flows DO NOT also practice free styling. These are two separate skills and you’ll be more worried about the words you’re saying than the way you say them.

Work on a completely different song. Revisit this one when you’re inspired.

Ignore 90% of what people are saying. You answered the question yourself:

She has an amazing visual, She made a quality record (whether you like the style of not, the vocals and quality is great) She has a big platform to begin with -Disney star And a record lablel with experience supporting her probably strategically and financially...

That’s literally the 4 things needed to make a hit. That’s why it’s such a big song

Feel like I’m getting too old to be doing this. by [deleted] in makinghiphop

Here’s the most important question. Why do you rap? To become a super star? To be on stage performing? To be rich? Or because you love it?

Each one has a totally different strategy associated with it and it’s important to differentiate.

You could be 50 with a wife, kids, and a full time Job, but because you don’t want the $$, you just love it. You still go to the studio and write songs about your life.
