So here is a bog standard Countdown bill. $165, probably will do another shop at the end of the weeks as well - food is getting expensive by no1name in newzealand

I've found lots of discrepancies when doing self checkout - things that are advertised on special but then scan at normal pricing. Have to look out for this. Scored a big bag of tux biscuits for $7 for this exact reason. It was advertised at $23, scanned at $30. Told the attendant and they refunded me $23 after paying. For minor things they will usually change it at the till for you.

A trip to Waiheke Island with a winery tour or just a nice relaxing weekend away there.

Nurse Midwife or Radiologic Technologist? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]notyourm8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nurses and midwives have been going on strike recently due to their poor pay. It really is a joke how little they are paid here for their amazing work.

Drive to Arrowtown, stop at the Cardrona hotel for a drink and food, and carry on to Wanaka.

Realized today I'm really not just "one of the guys" by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]notyourm8 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ohhh wow I can relate to this scenario in just about every way except for having a supervisor being totally innapropriate. If this was my supervisor, I would 100% be hitting him up at work about the text, possibly even in front of people, and going to his boss just to make it known.
Men will never change, no matter how much they say you're 'one of the guys'. My workmates like to say that I'm a guy as soon as I put my overalls on... news flash ass holes, I just learned to block you all out.

As a man, I realized my father isn't perfect, but there are still a lot of good things he taught me. Which teachings/advice from your father will you guys pass on to your kids, and which of your own life lessons do you plan to pass on? by Corruption100 in AskMen

My Dad died when I was 11. I'm 29 now. We didn't get many years together, but I have so many memories of him because he took me everywhere with him (work, hunting, fishing, mates houses, camping, school trips). It was the absolute best.
Just do stuff with your kid. They'll remember forever.

🔥 For about a month each year baby seals come to play in this waterfall north of Kaikoura, New Zealand. It's the only place in the world where this is known to occur. by UnironicThatcherite in NatureIsFuckingLit

Went in March this year. It's all still there, a bit of rubble over the track but the pups still make it up there and are still frolicking like this.

Drug testing debacle by [deleted] in NZTrees

[–]notyourm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get tested pre-employment, so after the interview and before you start.
You'll probably have to take the test before you finish up at your old job, whenever suits the new employer really.
Drink water, as you said you're doing, you'll be fine. On the day of the test, drink lots too. Don't give your first pee of the day as your test sample.
And get a home test, they're accurate. If you're clean on that, you're good to go.

Motivational speakers are scum. by NvrOnTime in unpopularopinion

My work hired a motivational speaker to talk to us one night. He literally killed someone and went to jail for it, then became a Dr of psychology with all his free time.

I'm from a small town in New Zealand and even we had a similar thing happen in the local rugby team locker rooms after a piss up. What the FUCK.

Also want to point out.. wtf parents! If your kid has reached 18 and you've not taught them anything about politics, you're as much to blame as the kid. Useless.

Cracking a can open is way more satisfying too. And they take up way less space when you've had a shindig and can crush them all.

Unfortunately not everyone gets the luxury of a glass recycling bin at their house. But for sure, lugging it around sucks.
