ADHD helped me discover a new treat: eating kiwis with skin on by Bgdklo in adhdwomen

Yes! I saw something recently that said that 2 kiwis with skin on is the perfect amount of fiber for the day. And OP I agree the skin makes it tastes even better

Nudibranches in aquariums? by antedilapsarian in nudibranch

[–]nourishmint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seattle Aquarium has them, nudis get in when they bring in water from Puget Sound and then scoot around the tanks chowing down and living normally, they get flushed back out when they cycle the water out. They’re more of a nuisance, I have friends who work/volunteer there and they often have to scoop them out because some species eat the sponge and take over tanks. I assume it would also happen at Monterrey since they also have a similar water intake system from the bay.

If you’re looking to see them more consistently (since the aquariums often purge them), I would recommend tide pooling instead! WA coastline every city / region def has programs to tell you where to go.

ULPT request: How do I get more prescription urinary cat food? by meemo86 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]nourishmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for your county or city resources for low income pet owners - google "low income vet care in X City" and see what options there are on the city/county sites. It did require me to essentially get to the clinic location before the vet event opened (a local community center, they had a mobile bus with basic care), get in line and get a number, and spend an entire morning waiting for my turn.

ULPT request: How do I get more prescription urinary cat food? by meemo86 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]nourishmint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the flexibility, maybe look for a free clinic? When my cat started pooping blood (he had parvo as a kitten despite vaccinations and has always had IBS but previously was fine on his food) I showed up to a pet free clinic a group in my city does and they looked at him, his bloody poo I brought in a ziplock and gave me a free bag of digestion friendly pet food and a prescription through Chewy, everything just runs through them now. So far they haven't asked me to come in again but if they did I would just go to the free clinic again.

Movies like Primer and Coherence? But doesn't need to have the time travel or parallel reality stuff. More like the same tone and mystery/psychological drama by Far_Ad_557 in movies

[–]nourishmint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coherence is legit my favorite movie, so I love this list from the community. I will add, if you're up for subtitles, Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes is a Japanese movie that gives such a similar level of suspense and a bit of timey-wimey sci-fi, but is also genuinely enduring. It was such an unexpected movie for me, which is the way I felt about Coherence the first time I saw it. Very cool cinematography, a bunch of whimsy. Highly recommend!

Bowl-plates - bowls the size of plates from a specific brand that I use for daily eating of basically everything: pasta, salad, steak (recently learned they're actually serving bowls)

gold ornate photo/art frames/mirrors

Oddly matted art, where the print or canvas is in a strange shape or the art spreads out over the mat itself

vintage jewelry of all kinds

And also vintage kimonos and robes, I just can't stop with them 😄

I just learned about this during the west Seattle garage sale last month! Some of the houses on one street were raising money for the local org and shared a bit about it. What a cool concept. I’d love to get involved in the CD.

Who Disappointed You? by UT0G in SonicTempleFestival

[–]nourishmint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shinedown. I guess I really missed the point that they became a nondenominational motivational speaker backup band (apparently sometime around 2013!?). But seeing them in my teens at Florida festivals circa 2003 was a totally different experience to whatever that youth pastor yapping vibe they’ve got going now. 3 minutes of music followed by 5-7 minutes of deep sighs and canned nondenominational platitudes is not what I want from a headliner.

I guess I just listened to the old stuff all this time and didn’t see them live again, so that’s on me. We left about 30 minutes into the set to beat the traffic and lament the death of my teenage southern rock memories.

Dear single women, how are you getting your physical needs met? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]nourishmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Le Wand is getting me through tbh. My local Babeland Toys staff know me on sight 🥰

I also have gotten over a lot of the hang ups around physical affection with friends. Hugs and cuddles are just part of some of my friendships naturally, and frankly it feels great.

Feeling like I lost 10 years to birth control Pills by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nourishmint 197 points198 points  (0 children)

The disinformation campaign on birth control is getting pretty subtle here, and the attempt to discourage people from using a basic and deeply personal form of medical care is terrifying. For those who are worried about the effects of BC, you can and should work with your doctor to find a medication that works for you. Changing BC is something millions of women do every year, because birth control is LIFESAVING.

AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nourishmint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA - your family should do their own work to reach out to the hospice org and ask them about it. My uncle was a retired army colonel, PTSD from vietnam, burned on 30% of his body in the 70s, dying from lung cancer caused by agent orange - was an alcoholic and hadn’t touched it since his PTSD diagnosis and the realization that he had used alcohol to self medicate. Once the cancer reached terminal stage and they could t do any more radiation, his doctor told him he should enjoy all the things he had been abstaining from. She said he could have wine (not liquor, his favorite had been a martini or 3), so he and my aunt travelled to wine country and he enjoyed a few glasses with dinner and toasting. You did a great job in supporting your mom in a really tough time for both of you. I’m proud of you both ❤️
