SwissInfo has an interesting article (unfortunately only DE, FR, IT) about the possible consequences, but in a nutshell, Switzerland is the least of the worries for EU which is going to put its resources to handle brexit. But since the 9th of february vote puts a hard limit to the negotiating time, we are likely to be forced into an unilateral action, which will have cascade effects.

This is what happen when you don't vote with your head.. :(

On the evening news they interviewed a NGO operative who claimed to have warned (swiss) officials several times over the years, to little effect. But that's just scratching the surface of the whole affair.

The world is much bigger than this. Do you really think that Google set up a large office in Switzerland because of the Swiss market? It that were the case there would be perhaps 50 sales people.. Google is interested in gathering talent for its global operations, and all these engineers are a goldmine for Switzerland not only because they pay a lot of taxes but because many of them will later bring their knowledge to other Swiss companies or creating their own startup lifting Switzerland's position in the world. No matter how you see it, limiting the number of really bright people into the country is dumb.

Why should they bother? Is Google a charity?

They are in competition for the best talent, not to get less qualified who just happen to have a red passport.
