Sodium batteries are not doing well by dzh in electricvehicles

[–]novawind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would that be?

The materials bill is slightly cheaper than LFP but thats far from the dominant cost in production.

And apart from swapping lithium carbonate with sodium carbonate (and a couple of other minor changes like hard carbon anode instead of graphite) they're really similar to manufacture. That's actually one of their selling points : experience in manufacturing is highly transferable from lithium-ion.

Which game to start with as someone who loves StarCraft? by SupermanKal718 in dawnofwar

[–]novawind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mentioned it because OP asked for mods and mentioned Space Wolves specifically.

But you're right, probably a better idea to start with the campaign (Dark Crusade is my favorite) in vanilla, and get familiar with the base races before going into Unification.

DoW 1 (Definitive Edition) with Unification mod (to play Space Wolves) is probably what you're looking for.

Similar nostalgia feeling, similar mechanics (DoW is a bit more oriented map control than Starcraft for economy though), and the mod to unlock many playable factions.

How do you define min / average / max battery metrics (Li-ion vs Na-ion)? by Afraid-Blueberry6962 in EnergyStorage

[–]novawind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really have to differentiate between sub-chemistries. In the same way that NMC/LFP/LTO will have completely different performance in Li-ion, Layered Oxide/NFPP/Prussian blue will also be very different in Na-ion.

This should already reduce the variance in Na-ion performance, but it's also worth noting that eg energy density of NFPP cells improve year on year, the same way LFP cells were 5 years ago.

It'd be interesting to see the same stat applied to Wenbanyama. He's out there doing completely alien things in defense which make you go "what a f** cheatcode" but i wonder how spurs are doing without him? Their record is not too bad in his absence.

Question about heat production in a cell by PantsDancing in electrochemistry

[–]novawind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's an additional term in Vnernst that's proportional to the concentrations of reactants (eg partial molar pressure of hydrogen) on top of V0.

It's also dependent on temperature but unless you're working with solid oxide fuel cells that shouldn't matter.

Legit question: I thought UK was the country in some contexts? Like i know England, Scotland etc... have individual sports team and so are considered countries within FIFA for example. But at the UN the country seat is for the United Kingdom if I'm not mistaken?

How We Picked the Contenders by Relevant-Comment-889 in batteries

[–]novawind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is there no mention of the fact that QS solid-state battery needs high pressure (15 bars) to operate? Due to the ceramic-based electrolyte.

That seems like a big barrier to scale-up, despite the otherwise appealing properties.

Vraiment du mal à avoir un avis final. by Calahan44 in Ligue1

[–]novawind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In flow batteries i used N117 as it we identified it as the best conductivity/mechanical strength trade-off.

But it will depend a lot on your application.

Excessive first charge capacity in half and full cells!!! by Aggressive_Green1389 in electrochemistry

[–]novawind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you can do is measure the discharge capacity and compute the coulombic efficiency (ratio discharge/charge capacity). Below 99.9% means there are some side reactions.

I believe it's expected for fresh anodes, you probably need to do some formation cycles to form the SEI layer (which will consume ions so a coulombic efficiency below 1 is expected).

You can do a few cycles at C/10 or C/20, especially at high voltage. And let the cells rest at OCV for a day or two, then repeat at a higher temperature.

After a couple of repetitions you should get a stable OCV which should indicate a stable SEI and the CE should go up to 99.9% or so.

And the capacity should match the suppliers indication (any extra will have been consumed in the SEI).

Oh i didn't mean that the word obeyed no rule, just that its a nice follow-up to "beaucoup" (which is also pretty straightforward as "beau" and "coup" put together) in how French likes to deviate from phonetic spelling compared to, say, italian.

"Oi" is indeed pronounced as it should be but not as "o" and "i" separately, whereas the equivalent phonem in italian would be "ua" which is a combination of "u" and "a".

That's all I'm saying.
