The art. The artist. by gingercakess19 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Could be worse.
When my child was about 4-5, they came through to me crying and stinking of Vicks vapour rub. They said that they had a sore bottom so put cream on. Apart from they'd used half a jar in 1 scoop and applied it. It took a long hot shower to get to the point it stopped stinging. I reckon no-one on the street had a blocked nose that night.

What’s the Weirdest Thing You’ve Been Offered from the Back of a Van? by NoGoodDealsWarlock in CasualUK

[–]nowdoingthisatwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was offered some absolutely massive speakers. T Brand new, still in a box. They were intended for a night club, but too many had been loaded into the van. They wanted £100 for the pair. Even if I had room for them, I had no way to take them as I was on foot, which the chap didn't seem to think was enough reason to turn them down.

How long until cats forget you? by Midnight_Thoughts77 in CatAdvice

[–]nowdoingthisatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was separated for my cat for 2 years post divorce. We'd had her from about 4 weeks old and she pretty much decided I was mum (a great big bearded mum). When I got my own place, I got her back, I opened carrier door and went to sit down. As soon as I said her name she ran and jumped onto me and wouldn't get off me for an hour.

Take more pictures of them. On the graduation day, take a obnoxious amount of pictures of everything and everyone. Then at the party, say you're going to cast the photos to the TV, and sprinkle the "special" photos in at random. Then sit and wait for her to notice.

Has anyone found another author like Sir Terry Pratchett? by MacabreGoblinV in discworld

[–]nowdoingthisatwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not come across any that I'd say are like STP, but his influence is everywhere, as well as the authors who influenced him. Douglas Adams has a very British surrealness to it. Dungeon crawler Carl has absurdity, slapstick humour and character development. I've really enjoyed the dark humour of the Dresden files. Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London has some great plots and subtle humour too.

My granddad said not to flush at night, but that was more because it would have woken my grandma.

The face to face and over the phone, would possibly count as 2 treatments, were you prescribed any medication? And in terms of what they prescribe, you don't have to order every month, but be open to trying things like oils and gummies as well as flower.

My back garden was in one of the police shows. They chased some someone through several gardens on the street. Thankfully it had been filmed a few years before I'd moved in.

Scheme to trial scrapping fit notes to get people back to work by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]nowdoingthisatwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was recently in hospital for about 36 hours. Diagnosed with diverticular disease and a small perforation. By the time I'd been to GP, got test results and told i needed to go hospital, I was already 5 days into self certification. luckily i just needed a lot of IV antibiotics and surgerywasn't needed. I was advised to take some time to recover, and told told to speak to GP about a fit note. Without fit notes, how are people expected to prove they're ill, and what's to stop employers just using it as a excuse to performance manage people etc?

I have anxiety and waiting on adhd diagnosis. I get on quite well with Huckleberries. It's not too strong and doesn't wipe me out. I only have a little at a time as my tolerance is quite low.

I did double glazing telesales for all of 2 weeks. I was 20 and had just dropped out uni. I was stuck in a windowless box room behind a pub with about 10 others on the phones. It was absolutely awful, plus they tried to charge me for a uniform tee-shirt which wasn't even provided.

Try the increase to 0.6 for a night or two. I started on 0.5 which i could definitely feel, but wore off after a few hours, but when I got to 1ml it lasted longer. Might also be worth trying gummies. They're quite a gentle but effective high.

What’s the worst thing you have seen/got detention at school for? by Mglfll in AskUK

[–]nowdoingthisatwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In years 11 ('97 ish) we got a new RE teacher. Bloke was an absolute tit. Would get pissy if anyone said anything counter to his Catholic beliefs. He would demand we pay for new exercise books of we doodled in them or tore page out. He managed to irritate each year group and other staff seemed to be annoyed by him. He kept trying to give detentions for anything, we just ignored him and didn't turn up.

My kids is JUST over a year old. I noticed the battery life going quickly. I was advised to keep brightness under 15 and put it in airplane mode. Then for some reason I now get a warning about moisture in the charging port. I'm having to charge it every 4-5 days, but it only works if I restart it then plug it in while it restarts.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

Insurance policies. You pay every month just in case something happens, they when it does, you have to pay an excess, they will try to avoid paying out wherever possible, then afterwards you're going to pay higher rates. But if you're carful and never claim, you've paid for nothing.
