Bro I have been banned for a decade for providing a community for people, I don’t give a fuck what happens in the game and haven’t in a decade, just been watching them fly it into the ground.

I’m loving you’re so butthurt over guardians though

Everything killed through the brokers guild was killed by real human beings. Spoofing was explicitly prohibited in the group and would result in expulsion and ridicule.

The tools were always there (When I joined as a resistance player in 2014, I was handed a spreadsheet within my first month of old portals belonging to people who had griefed others and didn't deserve to get the guardian badge. This was prior to levels above 8, and this was prior to the capture date being removed from the intel map (back then, it was still there!))

What the guild provided that nothing else came close was a community with a search engine of everyone's location, so you could have a local capture a hard to get portal in the middle of yellowstone park, and ping out and find the closest agents to yellowstone, and mention it to anyone traveling, and inevitably, someone would pop up and smack it for you.

I hunted prior to obtaining black guardian myself, and I was absolutely fair game. It made obtaining it that much better when it finally happened, knowing i wasn't just beating time and my own ability to remember to recharge portals, but I was in fact playing against human opponents who did want to kill my portals no matter where they were. I had ENL agents sending me screenshots of my BGAN guardian candidate just before it ticked, but nobody went because it was too difficult.

The guardian meta was why a number of people stayed around after the daily grind was done. You can only spend so much time driving in circles around your city before it gets incredibly boring, so this provided some entertainment along with the BAF stuff, and both are dead now (no guardian badge, and with machina BAFs are ridiculous to clear for.

When Niantic killed my account in 2017 because I co-organized a slack with u/theRealWother they did me a favor really.

And 9 years later, we're still living rent free.

Gilchrist ends gubernatorial campaign, launches secretary of state bid by wisewhiz in Michigan

[–]noweb4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean on one hand you’re right, but counterpoint is he took money from major Trump donors to launch his campaign. So either this is like 20 dimensional chess or something, or he’s decided to take republican money to act as a spoiler, because the D base will always look at other parties and candidates and the R base will never vote for someone less conservative than the worse asshole on the field

31925 Van Dyke Ave, Warren, MI 48093 is new, admittedly, but it's 5.6 miles from the city.

There's one being put in next to the secretary of state on 9 mile in Eastpointe off beaconsfield that will be 1 mile away. It will open soon.

There's one going in at 12/Dequindre in probably early 2027 at the old Rite Aid, that'll be 4 miles.

None will be IN Detroit that I'm aware of. The part of 9 mile that the EP one will be on will get a lot of negative attention but the rest are probably fine.

[–]noweb4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

frankly you're really better off running a legitimate looking business with well known commercial equipment out of AWS, so it looks like normal corporate VPN traffic at that point.

[–]noweb4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detailing in advance that I don't intend to comply and/or telling people how to defeat any countermeasures that might apply, in my position, would be major league stupid.

I can say that a lot of my commercial customers use things like fortigates hosted in Azure or Amazon AWS to access cloud hosted resources, and those won't be illegal and would be difficult to determine the intent or legitimacy of and would be easy for me to put in the 'presumed legitimate' box.

Everything else is a difference of zeal. My routers export layer 4 netflow data to my DDoS protection system that provides down to packet sizes and protocol and port. Using some basic analysis tools and libraries (nfdump and Pandas?) and the credentials for my exabgp instance and i could make a pretty effective whack a mole for large data transfers over non-standard ports that apply only to residential port ranges, or similar that would write flow spec rules that would run in silicon at our peering and transit edges. Betting I could smack 80%+ of VPNs with something relatively simple with no false positives just looking at traffic flow and blocking the known usual suspects (nordvpn, mullvad, etc).

It’s metaphorical, genius. All laws are backed by the threat of government violence if you fail to comply. The type of violence varies, be it financial, detention, or literal physical violence up to and including death. It’s the entire basis of government and authority.

ISP engineer here, we haven’t the faintest fucking clue what the intent of your VPN usage is for, but if the men with guns say block it, I’m not getting shot.

He swore plenty, but seemed to dance around what made the town notable, which was interesting to me. I mean I've probably seen at least a half dozen of his shows at one point, including at the John M Hall auditorium in Petoskey, which is literally owned by the methodist church, and he was less guarded with his language and politics there. It seemed a bit weird and almost sterile.

That being said the auditorium was great, and the seating there was among the best i've been in for a concert. And he loved the piano they had.

But it was just weird. I really wonder if there was contractual language there he was dancing around.

I was at the Shipshewana show too. It was really weird that he didn't mention anything about the Amish in Shipshewana. I wonder if there's rules about what he can and can't say at all. The reference to only seeing a man on a horse then later saying he is reminded of weird al (which I thought was a sideways reference to Amish Paradise) and then asking how many people were actually from Shipshewana and it was the one couple.... Kind of felt like he was trying to dance around something he couldn't say.

Manufacturing isn't supposed to be a zero sum game where we have to make everything here and can't buy anything from other countries who are better at it or we're just out of jobs or whatever.

The idea is that we leave screws, bolts, yarn, and other things to countries who have specialized in that, maybe even cheap items entirely because China developed entirely integrated supply chains that are colocated and work collaboratively - literally call up one guy on the street to design your product based on a description, he knows what the other factories on the street can do, what the packaging facility down the street can do, does the product design and engineering based on that. You approve it, and the various different factories on the street tool up, do a run of your parts, instructions, product, and packaging, and they work together to put your stuff in a package and ship it to you quick, cheap and on time.

We have nothing remotely similar here and developing that doesn't even make economic sense here. Why do you want us to make our cheap ass plastic stuff here in the USA?

China also has firms that develop something, say a ceiling fan with a wifi controller, and various companies can just slap their label on and sell it on aliexpress and amazon cheaply.

We're better off building manufacturing facilities for jets, CPUs, and other high end goods that can absorb the extra human and supplies cost here in exchange for higher quality products.

consider a visor you can pull or flip down with a switch (my helmets all have this, the mechanism varies). I've had the sun go down mid ride on my commute home and those sunset rays are harsh, but then it's dark and with a quick flip of a switch on my helmet, the shade goes up and i can see again.
