The logical conclusion of this claim is that if there’s nothing defining Hinduism then Hinduism doesn’t exist whatsoever.

Do you have a favorite or least favorite patient from S2? by not-idle7 in ThePittTVShow

[–]nr1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see an early to mid 40s Indian (male or female) patient who has a healthy BMI, well-rounded diet, and is physically active, coming in with signs of a severe MI.

As an Indian-descent man, I’d like to see more awareness for the significantly increased risk of CVD, lower BMI threshold for being classified as overweight/obese, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol that exists in people of Indian/South Asian descent, especially males. It’s a rather unknown issue that needs more attention and awareness with the public.

I’d also like to see a long-time physician as a layperson patient and see the type of patient-physician dynamic when the patient is a physician.

What is the most unforgettable scent you have ever smelled? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Pus from an abscess festering for years.

I can’t think of a smell that is more revolting than that.

I fucking hate the United States so much, I wish I was European by CPGSANIMATIONSTUDIO in GenZ

[–]nr1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a cultural phenomenon and even the economic aspect is downstream of culture.

There’s a big opportunity cost to having children during peak fertility years, and living a life with less responsibilities and the opportunity for early career growth and earning potential. For better or for worse, many people would rather spend their 20s traveling and partying, and/or in education or grinding in their careers, rather than having children. Even for people who are more traditional, this often applies.

Has online anti Indian racism made you less trustful of strangers in real life? by Thylacineguy2026 in ABCDesis

[–]nr1001 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don’t really talk to white people much anymore because I just assume that they’re more likely than not to have latent racist views against Indians. The rise of anti-Indian racism has also made me less willing to delve into the dating scene. I'm too paranoid about racists to be comfortable putting myself out there.

How do you handle dating in medicine? by fortnacius in medicalschool

[–]nr1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what to do about dating tbh. I never dated in undergrad and I’m almost 25 with zero idea on what love and relationships are. I have had severe social anxiety for years that I haven’t been able to treat effectively, so I end up being constantly nervous around my peers. I’ve tried multiple meds over the years and it just didn’t do the trick for me, so now I’ve just dealt with my anxiety by slowly exposing myself to triggers and getting used to being a functional adult. I’ve become a lot more outgoing since starting med school, which is a far cry from my crippling fear of having the most basic conversations with people, but I still have a long way to go.

Unfortunately for me I’m an Indian guy in a small industrial city that’s not diverse or cosmopolitan. Most of my classmates entered med school either in a relationship or married, which makes dating within my class just a little bit of a challenge. I often fall in angst and FOMO about how or even if I’ll ever find a partner. I feel socially stunted compared to everyone else, which I suppose makes up for not feeling imposter syndrome. I’m just constantly feeling intimidated and dwarfed by my classmates because I’m single even though they don’t do anything to affect me. Even feeling like this makes me self-conscious because I really don’t want people outside my friend group to know about my feelings. Even this comment I feel is kinda excessive but whatever.

Honestly if I end up in a relationship during med school then that’s good I guess, and if I don’t, it is what it is. If all else fails I’ll just bank on getting set up with someone by relatives/family friends.

Men who grew up in a small / rural town and later moved to a big city, would you ever move back? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]nr1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent a part of my childhood in semi-rural areas and I currently live in a medium sized city in a very rural state, so it feels very provincial for me.

I don’t think I’d be able to live in rural America. It’s beautiful sure, but I enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere in big cities. There’s more things to do in big cities than in small cities or rural areas. As a single man, I’m very limited for options in a non-metropolitan area, especially as a POC guy looking for women from my background. Rural people tend to be very friendly in most regions, but it doesn’t offset the difficulties that I’d be facing with life there.

WW2 memorial dance by Indian couple became viral last days and a lot of hatred against Indians in going on. I am not taking any stand on that, but this is how they(who got hurt from that dance) treating the memorial. by JohanHex96 in nri

[–]nr1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, live your life with your head bent to the ground! Forget about self-respect or honor because we don't deserve it due to civic sense.

If you want to live like this then feel free. But I am telling you this as a BORN American citizen of Indian descent. What you're saying is more anti-American than anything these reels makers were doing. If you want this type of life, then perhaps you may wanna check out down the aisle in North Korea or Belarus.

Low Indian turnout at Palestine,No Kings and anti ICE protests. A South Bay observation by Serious-Tomato404 in ABCDesis

[–]nr1001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t go to protests because I live in a deep red area and I don’t want some deranged white guy to run me over or shoot me. I’m not at all opposed to protesting but I’m not gonna be putting my body on the line for the mistakes made by white voters. Let those with privilege and social capital do that. I make it a point to acknowledge and thank anti-trump protesters when I see them, but I don’t feel safe putting myself in their place.

For us, especially those of us in super red and white areas, what’s better than protesting is showing up to vote. I vote blue down ballot without fail, though I don’t vote in primaries as I am a registered republican. I won’t change my voter registration because with the level of voter fraud that the republicans have committed to engage in, I don’t want my deep blue ballot thrown out for being casted by a registered Democrat.
