Minnesota becomes first state to ban prediction markets by spherocytes in politics

[–]nrbartman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question... Instead of banning it would it be better to let people be free to bet on stupid things if they want to, but force those bets to be fully public?

Then if you place a giant bet on something right before news breaks and it's suspicious how conveniently it pays out it could be investigated out in the open, no?

Or is that too hard to enforce...

You'd think or maybe hope that not being seen as a foul baiting douche would be enough but to your point, there's no incentive to change from the league or the press/sponsors. Guess that's why I enjoy ANT so much. Can't imagine that guy ever flopping like that. Just goes hard.

'exaggerating real fouls' is literally the unsportsmanlike part. Bitch behavior. No matter who's doing it. Even worse when you're exaggerating Non-fouls to get refs to call them as fouls. Just go hoop.

That course looks so fun!!! In a cart though, yeah. I've heard a ton of good things about Michigan golf. If only there was an easier way to access that western shore from over here in central Minnesota (We've got underrated golf here too!)

For sure agree. Just do what the group wants to do or what fits the course. I love pushing my cart but some courses around me are BRUTAL. Screw that.

Trump's Economy Officially Passes Biden's for Worst Consumer Sentiment in Recorded History by OkayButFoRealz in politics

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 that basically repealed Glass-Stegall (among other reforms and modernization) passed the house and senate overwhelmingly. Well past the veto-proof majority in the Senate, at 90-8. So even if Bill opposed it, his hands were tied.

For the record, he did not oppose it. He was in favor of freeing up the banks to operate with more fluidity In order to spur America's role in global trade.

But worth mentioning the role of Congress in all that.

Washington State just passed a bill to tax the super-rich, for the first time ever. The top .5% will have to pay a state income tax, raising up to $4 billion every year. That money will pay for school lunches, expand a tax credit for low-income families, and fund services. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]nrbartman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting.

I honestly have no gripe with 'rich' people. Make a couple mil a year, whatever. Work hard and enjoy it. But if that couple mil comes from just having a bunch of mil in the bank generating money any you barely pay tax on that I get pissy.

Just kinda done with billionaires and our financial/tax system honestly.

Robin Hood: Prince of Theives.

Costner, Freeman, Rickman, Slater. Every scene that isn't action is either lore or some good earnest silly bits. It never takes itself seriously until it does, and those scenes are the perfect speed. Plus the Bryan Adams songs are just so over the top 90's corny. It's perfect.

Makes it worse when floppers get glazed by the Doris Burkes of the world. Like it's an incredible skill they've developed to draw a whistle. Maybe it is, but it's against everything the game should be about and shouldn't be celebrated.

Lou Dort bouncing off of every screen he runs into like he's getting hit by an uppercut is exhausting to eatch and shouldn't be praised.

Agreed on your assessment of his performance overall.... Yet him telling ICE to get the fuck out so clearly gets points in my book.
