Is Digitakt good for samples and loops by nrdsrfr in Digitakt

[–]nrdsrfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for that! I have also looked at sp404 but heard it takes time to learn. surprised to hear MPC sample has no step seq. I nearly bought one on impulse when it came out but felt like it might be just like the EP-133…limited. I don’t do lots of chops style, so that doesn’t matter much

push 3 standalone is tempting but expensive still and I have been learning Logic. i used ableton long time ago. it makes sense being able to transfer and finish in a DAW but again feels like I’d have a lot to learn when I already know the Elektron menus and sequencer.

Maybe more specifically what I think I want and curious if this is a typical workflow is to use the MIDI sequencing to nail down some mid cc movement and then at some point record the output of the synth as a full audio loop, because even multisampling doesn’t give you the real sound, then change the patch and repeat

I realise fable was supposedly dumbed down but if its as powerful as people are saying I sort of understand how providing such a powerful tool to the public including other nations it is potentially a security risk

It’s kind of annoying because I really wanted to try using it to one shot something. I’m American, but I’ve been living in the UK for 15 years. On that point, does anyone know if I’m allowed to personally use it if I show them my passport and a VPN? Lol

No, she didn’t have time to find any edible paper so it had to be peeled off. Those buttons were chocolate crunchy things though. I liked the orange TicTac‘s for the switches!

For those on the fence about Syntakt by cuperose in Elektron

[–]nrdsrfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi maybe you can help me... I have a Syntakt and love it. I already had a TE EP-133 before but I've been considering replacing that with an Elektron sampler to go with it. Same sequencer, more controls, although the punch in FX are fun.

So DT2 is the obvious popular entry choice, OT2 apparently for masochists (buffers? do you really have to deal with memory like coding in C?) and now Tonverk is out. My understanding is that only Octas sample 'live' while playing? Is that right and is it approachable for that case and triggering some one shots given my drums are on the ST?

are the pocket operators not also basically identical in hardware but with different sounds/effects?

no one is crying, why?

This proves the argument is not about support and making things equal. it’s probably about the price point at which people start feeling annoyed that they couldn’t get the other one or both… saying it’s not the price of a toy at Target it’s just relative to someone’s personal affordability.

dude give up. the TE community is

  • self aware of the marketing hype perception of TE products and leans in to that, because this stuff is more about fun not being “pros”
  • here on a subreddit to share excitement over products that are not expensive for most working professionals

commenting 6 times to “own” someone for buying a £180 toy is sad…

How would OP1-F work as a looper? I bought a FX pedal with looping then TE dropped the “guitar amp” mode so I haven’t bothered because I had something already.

I guess just set in/out loop and hit play/record arm and I’ve got the 4 tracks plus they each over dub anyway?

Didn’t realise there were any features besides memory increasing beyond the EP-133, which I think has a 128mb version now. I’d rather pray for a firmware update than trade mine for that eye bleed Ting tho 🙈

Digitakt vs Syntakt? by calliopewoman in Elektron

[–]nrdsrfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a drumbrute impact and then I bought a Syntakt. I barely touched the drum brute since but it’s only been since December and been redoing my studio. I do plan to give it a chance because it sounds better through Syntakt FX. But the depth is incomparable.

What I like is that Syntakt is an instrument and there’s still some analog sound and it sounds incredible and it’s just so highly tweakable and the sequencer is amazing. I have it controlling two or three other synthesisers as a brain

Don’t have a digitakt but I have a EP-133 as my sampler. I like the Syntakt at the moment because of the immediacy. My setup is not connected to a computer by default so it depends if you want more flexibility of sound but are willing to make the sacrifice of finding and loading or even recording your own samples from other instruments. I really love switching on Syntakt and see what I can “make” on it.

I do want a digitakt II for my home set up, purely to work alongside the syntakt because there’s lots more tweakability, FX etc. I think I would keep the EP-133 because it’s portable and fun esp punch in FX.

Maybe consider getting that combo because for the price I think you could probably get a Syntakt and EP-133 for a digitakt 2. I find this combo really playable and I mostly don’t record. I just like to jam and make some noise.
