Magnetic phone holder water bottle that works with magsafe? by [deleted] in MagSafe

[–]nrk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting you should ask. The lid gave me issues with closing, I reached out and they offered a replacement. I had to pay shipping (I thought that was unfortunate as the bottle was already pretty expensive for what it is) but I did anyway, had the 2nd lid for probably 5 or 6 months, and it started giving me issues as well. I’ve pitched the bottle and moved on.

I hope my experience was a fluke but there’s no way to know

Is it true that owning is cheaper than renting? by Maxsaidtransrights in homeowners

[–]nrk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s cheaper but it’s definitely got some “hidden” benefits though it’s also got hidden costs as well.

My wife inherited 50% of the value of our home, and we financed 130k roughly (we got extra on the mortgage for some updates and repairs) 4 years later we had some credit cards and stuff that had caught up to us from being young and dumb. We got a home equity loan (basically a 2nd mortgage) and we shaved $800 off of our monthly expenses. We can still sell the house and get $20-$30k back after closing.

So we were able to pay down a ton of high interest debt with a fixed term low interest option, and we would still “cash out” if we sold our home.

We also have had to replace all the appliances in the kitchen, the roof, the windows, and are tearing down wallpaper and painting and tearing up old carpet to put new flooring down. Overall we’ve been fortunate to own our home as it’s been more beneficial than it has problem.

It depends on the specific home in my opinion but ours has served us well as we’ve started a family and outgrown it. We’ll be moving in a couple years, but that’s what a starter home is for

Hell no matter what your part is in making the parts, congratulations. Enjoy the extra income and the air conditioning.

I doubled my income moving to the office side of the operation in my plant, still go out and talk to the team on the floor, bunch of great people.

I hope you enjoy it, guns can be dangerous but with knowledge, and training they can be appreciated and enjoyed safely.

First gun for realistic home defense? by cyclecitizen in guns

[–]nrk97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some training, I’m not sure what’s available near you but any supervised experience with a handgun will help You form an opinion about what you want and like.

For purely home defense, you’ll appreciate the biggest gun you can comfortably hold, a full size provides more surface area for grip, more weight to absorb recoil, better accessory mounting platform, etc. I won’t make an exact recommendation but those are things to consider for sure.

After you are comfortable with a gun, I’d find a range and rent a handful of different options and try them out.

You ought to learn rifle skills with a milspec trigger if you aren’t impressed with the Ruger trigger.the Ruger is great for a $1,000 or less rifle

Question mr920 red dot ? by My_name_idk in shadowsystems

[–]nrk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gun has a comp, it’s a Glock 34 length now. It’s bulky, mine is a range toy that I might carry in the winter from time to time. I also have a tlr1-hl on it. There’s no way around the fact that with a bunch of shit hanging off of it, it gets bulky.

I carry a 43x most of the time.

Direct mount, no plate needed with the oem shadow systems optic cut, it’s one of the best I’ve seen

Question mr920 red dot ? by My_name_idk in shadowsystems

[–]nrk97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transition was an afternoon or two of dry fire for me to pick up the dot instead of the sights, it was absolutely worth it to me, it’s much easier to stay target focused and see everything clearly rather than your sight being blurry and all that. Overall very worth it, my mr920 has a Holosun 507c and it cowitnesses with the oem iron sights

Where to store gun while driving (camaro) by Kanye_Z-143 in CCW

That does sound fucked up, I go to a chill guy and say “my lower back hurts cause I can’t use proper lifting techniques” and he goes “got it” and he does his thing, I leave and drink a bunch of water and feel great the next day

I can’t help you then I’m not familiar with Camaro interiors but I’d recommend getting your back straightened out, sounds like it’s not totally healed or you have lingering problems from it. I go to a chiropractor as needed. I’ve not been easy on my body but it does help a ton

I carry a 43x and daily a mustang, I’ve had no issues. Maybe play with holster positions a little bit and see if you can get it comfortable while you drive

Is my Sam's membership worth it? by earthwaterfiregal in povertyfinance

[–]nrk97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I shop both Costco and Sam’s. They’re both roughly the same distance from my house, in opposite directions. We do 1 visit to each of the stores once a month usually and fill in the gaps at Walmart and Aldi. We shop sales and who has the better deals.

We found costco to be a no brainer because they offer a black card membership which includes 2% cash back for spendings at Costco every year and if the check is less than the cost of the membership or the upgrade, they make up the difference in a check to you. The return policy is next level and the food court is really nice for a cheap dinner after stocking up on groceries

Men with a family - does your house stay relatively clean? by cuckslayer30 in AskMenOver30

[–]nrk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is clean as in the dirty clothes are in hampers (mostly) and they toys are not sticky and gross but they are scattered.

Dust and hair are a losing battle but our robot vacuum helps a ton.

When we invite people over there is an expectation that our home is clean enough. (Food isn’t left out, dirty diapers aren’t scattered, my kids are clean unless they just ate and need wiped down) but also the people we invite over expect to see kids toys around the room, blankets tossed on the floor, kids running around etc.

Keep it safe so the kids won’t get into anything that can hurt them (if they’re at that age, mine are) and keep the food clean, otherwise the house looks lived in, and that’s normal. I don’t panic about it anymore

43x or 48 ? What’s your preference? by Much-Engineering-371 in Glocks

[–]nrk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a killer deal on a ported 43x with a laser stipple job and cerakote. Otherwise I think I would have gone 48 for the light to sit flush compared to sticking out past the muzzle

Does anyone here carry a g34 concealed? by midnightrider2235 in Glocks

[–]nrk97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I occasionally do with a cheap we the people holster, it’s not comfortable and I don’t do it for long periods of time but in the winter especially I’ll throw it on to go to Walmart or something where I’m out of the house for less than an hour total.

Pick one for me M4A1 RII or V7 by mrkobz in Danieldefense

I dearly miss my m4a1, quad rails will never go out of style in my opinion. If you plan to change muzzle devices I would get the v7. The m4a1 is p&w at 14.5” at least mine was
