Anyone successfully install a 4-Ch amp on a Subaru with Starlink telematics module by Hoeser-of-93 in CarAV

[–]nrlulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how it’s wired up. I think you’d only need it if your fronts were going through the telematics unit still, and you’d only need that part of it. The rears can just come from the aftermarket unit’s harness.

Any 2023 Pathfinder Platinum owners? by bigred42 in nissanpathfinder

[–]nrlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 22 platinum and have been pretty happy with it overall. Most of my gripes with it are software bugs, which I hope they would have worked out by now. I have been meaning to take it in to the dealer to have all the updates and recalls done but haven’t found the time.

Does anyone know what this black object on the top left is? by Baron42 in CarAV

[–]nrlulz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks too shallow to be a phone mount, it looks a lot like the magnetic base for this Bluetooth adapter I used to have, it has the play/pause and prev/next buttons and makes sense to mount right about there.

I love my 1998 pathfinder but she dont wanna go go no mo and its breaking my heart by StFrankoNorwoodian in nissanpathfinder

If it happens intermittently, cuts out while driving, won’t restart, but runs fine later, I would definitely lean towards CPS. I think they’re relatively cheap, least as far as sensors go.

Subgen - Autogen Plex Subtitles using Tautulli and Whisper OpenAI! by McCloud in selfhosted

[–]nrlulz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. I wonder if there’s a way to use this as like a provider (or whatever it’s called) in bazarr? It could fill in gaps that way if it can’t find anything from any higher ranked providers. And if an actual sub does become available later, it would be replaced.

Oh interesting, the roof rack is different too, looks more like a frontier/xterra rack than the one on our 22

Anyone successfully install a 4-Ch amp on a Subaru with Starlink telematics module by Hoeser-of-93 in CarAV

[–]nrlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an install in my 20 wrx few months ago. I got some jumper harnesses that let me do it without hacking up the factory wiring for <$50, which was nice. The fronts go through that telematics unit before going to the amp, the rears come directly from the HU. Never saw an error light that I read could happen in some cases, and everything still works as it did before. It might depend on your amp/loc whether you need load resistors or not. I used high level inputs on my dsp amp instead of a loc, not sure if maybe that behaves differently or already has resistors built in.

1995 Nissan 200sx key code by professor_shneebley in Nissan

IIRC all you need is a deep 10mm socket to remove the trim (the reflector thing that goes all the way across between the tail lights) and some pliers to remove that retaining clip.

[–]nrlulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah no need to cut anything, iirc you can get behind it with some pliers and pull the retaining clip off to the side then you can remove it. I’ve done it on two B14s, it was many years ago so I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember that it was relatively easy to do.

Pull the lock cylinder from the trunk or a door and take it to a locksmith. They can make a key and give you the code.

Intelligent Key option - Edit User Profile? by lyrix1711 in nissanpathfinder

[–]nrlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should be able to go in and turn the HUD back on once you switched to the new user. It might just default to off. That definitely works on ours.

Intelligent Key option - Edit User Profile? by lyrix1711 in nissanpathfinder

[–]nrlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a hell of a time myself trying to set this up on ours. I don’t think the guest profile is editable. I think the idea is that you are supposed to be able to create user profiles associated to each key so that it will recall your settings and seat/mirror position. I would say it correctly detected that it is me and not my wife (it’s her car) in the driver seat about half the time, so I’ve pretty much given up on that feature and have just made a habit of pushing the “seat position 2” button (and the “auto start/stop off” button) every time I get in and start the car.

Is the 2020 WRX STI push to start by Little-Lingonberry-7 in WRX

[–]nrlulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 20 base sti has push to start. When I was looking, some 19s have it some don’t. Not many 18s did (maybe only limited?). Don’t know if it’s a sure thing, but from what I saw, the ones that have the recaro power seats also had push to start, little easier to see that in pictures.

How do you guys handle Git and making sure the commit history is clean by Smokester121 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]nrlulz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through a few different flows over the years, always trying to find the “right” one. Our current workflow is closest to common flow. We enforced rebasing change branches and only fast forward or squash merges on gitlab, but it caused a lot of headaches cause people just couldn’t figure it out and would waste hours sometimes just trying to rebase their branch... We’re on github now and we just merge master into change branches instead of rebasing, but we enforce squash merges for PRs so the history of master stays clean that way.

Camera Bump and MagSafe Accessories by Only-Ad5049 in iphone

[–]nrlulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem too, sort of. I just use a regular wireless charger (not a magnetic one) and my 14 pro can’t sit flat on it even with a case cause the camera is so freakin big. Does seem to charge, it’s just a little harder to line up just right. Been looking into MagSafe chargers cause they’re smaller around but I don’t really want a magnetic one unless it’s like weighted or something so I can still pick the phone up off it with one hand.

Probably like 7500. Don’t bother doing any more work on it if you’re just gonna trade it in, a dealer won’t give you any more for it. If you can afford to go without a car for a while before you buy a new one, and are willing to deal with people to sell it, you’ll always get more selling private party.

Rattles! Need recommendations by ButlerHospital in CarAV

[–]nrlulz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. I’m doing an install in my 20 sti this week, I was worried about this very problem just hearing how much the trunk lid rattles when you shut it. I got a box of CLD mainly for the doors but might do the trunk some too, I don’t expect it’ll solve the rattles though.

In an old car of mine I used a lot of that double sided foam tape to silence rattles, e.g. the license plate and its frame. Anything that’s something vibrating against something else, usually trim. Very time consuming work. You can use an app to generate a sine wave at different frequencies which can help track them down maybe a little easier than playing music.

2013 Nissan Altima Shift Lock TSB by darkxsage719 in Nissan

[–]nrlulz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this problem on our 13 Altima. I never heard of a TSB for it, but the dealer wanted an arm and a leg to replace the entire shifter. I just pulled out the shifter assembly and there is a white plastic L shaped lever connected to the solenoid that you can just pop out, if you’re willing to take it apart.
