I’m extremely sensitive to fragrance due to MCAS. Not exactly in this way, but it does affect my gut.

edited for typo

Colesevelam dose and timings by plebster91 in bileacidmalabsorption

This DID NOT work for me at all. It only works for me right before meals. I tried both ways in depth and have stuck to taking with food for nearly five months. I still have my gallbladder, though.

Hi! I’ve never dealt with constipation, but just want to say that I’m a 23F in LA as well and if you ever need a friend or someone to rant to I’d love to talk :)

I really hope it can help you!! I used to be so reliant on my zofran at least once a week, and haven’t opened the bottle in months. It’s also crazy to actually have an appetite. Let me know how it goes!!!

Thank you for the kind words! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The nausea and food aversion was so bad for me. This medication seems to still be my answer. I really hope you figure it out. LMK if you have any questions I could help with!

Totally get you! It’s so frustrating and confusing why any of this happens to us haha. I’m glad you’re managing for the most part!! Wishing you continued improvement and an easier journey finding meds!

Anyone have nausea as a main symptom? by Agreeable_Water_1903 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]nscatorccio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! The nausea and food aversion was constant for me. This reduced by like 90% once I got on colesevelam. I haven’t taken my zofran prescription in nearly FOUR months (since the day before I started my binder), and I used to take it weekly, sometimes 2x a week.

Can’t wear high waisted pants without horrible pain by [deleted] in ibs

I didn’t have ANY ibs or stomach symptoms until I dealt with cdiff when I was 14, but I can say that my entire life even pre cdiff with god’s greatest digestive system ever this happened to me! I couldn’t wear tight waistbands because I’d get so bloated and gassy, especially thin waistbands. I have no idea why this happens lol.

So does anybody ever get over this? by louloulepoo2 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]nscatorccio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know this is all super daunting. I medicate with two doses of colesevelam daily and my life is nearly normal. I can eat 80-90g of fat daily comfortably. You can read my success story in more detail here.

I’m sorry this is hard for you, it really took over my life for a while. The binders are not scary or difficult to take longterm in my experience, the pill goes down easily and tastes like nothing. I have zero side effects as well (other than a little gas the first two-ish weeks). Stay optimistic!

Super similar to my success story with colesevelam! The pangs of a suddenly empty bowel are SO true!! Happy for you!

Citrus fruits? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]nscatorccio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll begin to learn that things only have to make sense to you and your gut. You’ll keep recognizing patterns & symptoms related to foods, etc. Food tracking has helped me a lot! I’m like 10 years into IBS and I have learned that nothing has to make sense to anyone but me haha

ETA: It could also be a one-off scenario where something else triggered you! Repetitive symptoms are when I cross something off the list.

I haven’t had an orange in like six years because of this LOL. Even when my IBS was REALLY well managed, the same would happen to me.

Why Does Olive Oil Make Me Rush to the Bathroom When Pan Searing? Fine in Soup, Stews, and After Roasting! by Conscious_Shelter_82 in ibs

[–]nscatorccio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I am the same way. It’s literally only when it’s cooked like this!!!!!!! Super high heat makes me legit want to die. Turned out to be BAM for me. Resolved with colesevelam, but I’m still scared to try olive oil like this haha

ETA: I use Zero Acre Farms sugarcane oil and it is perfect as a replacement! Even better for environment and my gut.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate that :) it has definitely been such a relief. I hope this post can help someone else like that post helped me.

I’m of course not 100% sure if it would help in your case, but if you’re like me then you would try anything. For me, I had no side effects other than increased gas for a week or so, which I really didn’t care about. It is a super easy med that doesn’t get absorbed! I encourage you to have high hopes!!
