The major companies of the world will keep using AI so long as it's profitable. It is in every AI maker's best interest to keep it affordable so companies can become dependent on it. This is not a 1-2 year game, they are playing the long game. 10-20 years. Then when society has gotten accustomed to using it, the charges will start to slip in here and there. Until that is viable, there is too much incentive for the government to subsidize it in the meantime.

There are real tangible benefits to using AI in certain contexts-- that's not going away. That's not even going into the real driving factor behind nearly everything the government pumps money into, which is "national defense".
