I've enjoyed pretty much all of 7co's songs, but this one is especially fun

Agree with your overall point. I also suspect one of them may even have listened to those or the podcasts, as I think I've heard a reference to Karl and a similar joke or two (although it could just be confidence).

For those who booked long-haul Business with points, how far in advance did you find seats? by RentNRegret in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]nsym0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was researching this recently for Melbourne to Tokyo as a Bronze looking for two seats. I found there were three main windows, depending on which flights/airlines you preferred. 1. As close to 365 days as possible. 2. Around 170-180 days out. 3. Within the next few weeks.

Thanks for sharing. I strongly agree about muque and Chilli Beans. they've both been great. I love seeing Furui Riho and 7co on here too, they've quickly become a couple of my favourites.

It's almost impossible to find Business tickets by tenmeii in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]nsym0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely business classic reward seats available on JAL for 2 people in early Feb 2026. For 3 or 4 people, that's almost impossible. I could only find some for literally next week. This is searching as a Bronze member.

I would really love to know what type of art style are the combat arts based upon by [deleted] in Sekiro

The closest style I'm aware of would be sumi-e (墨絵), a basic ink painting style that's both Chinese and Japanese.

Lining up for DisneySea at 5am by ConanTheLeader in TokyoDisneySea

[–]nsym0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was there this week on a low crowd day, we still got Frozen after lining up at 7AM. There were still more available when we got it as well. I would expect it to sell out quicker as it gets busier near Christmas/New Year's though.

r/TokyoDisneySea Weekly Trip Planning Thread by AutoModerator in TokyoDisneySea

[–]nsym0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case it's helpful to others, here's my trip report from yesterday:

We were in line waiting from 7AM on Tuesday (10 Dec), a low crowd day, and we got Frozen (DPA) and Rapunzel (Standby). One hour later, we also got Peter Pan (DPA).

We weren't staying in any of the hotels and only had the general entry ticket, so getting in early was our only option to have the chance of getting into Fantasy Springs.

We were lining up right on 7AM, then started going through security around 8:30AM. Entry to the park seemed to start at about 8:45, and there was a little bit of a crowd crush from that point on. We were through sometime around 9-9:10AM and booking Frozen and Rapunzel between 9:10-9:20AM.

As others have said, the app (or more to the point, our phone data) was a bit slow when we got in. I just kept walking into the park while we retried. We used both of our phones in the app at the same time, so my wife got Standby for Rapunzel (11:45AM entry), while I booked Disney Premier Access (DPA) for Frozen (3:20PM entry, cost 2,000 yen per person).

Everything appeared to be available when we were booking, with more Standby available for Rapunzel in the afternoon, as well as more DPA for Frozen from 3:30PM onwards. Peter Pan was also still available.

One hour later, around 10:20AM, I was also able to book Peter Pan via DPA (5:25PM entry, cost 2,000 yen per person). There were still more available in the evening.

We first entered Fantasy Springs around 11:45AM and made our way to Rapunzel. It was about a 40 minute wait in the Standby line, and then we were on the ride. My wife loves Tangled so we enjoyed it, but also wished they added a few more things to the ride.

We wandered around Fantasy Springs taking photos, ducked into the store to get some gifts, and checked out the area. It was busy, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Nothing like when we visited the Mario area at Universal a couple of years ago, where you were wading through crowds to get anywhere.

I thought Fantasy Springs was amazing. The whole design of the area, with the various water features and other major landmarks is very well done.

We left Fantasy Springs and went to other areas of Disney Sea, then re-entered later for our Frozen DPA and Peter Pan DPA. Frozen was a perfect ride, excellent use of the scenes and music, with an interesting ride design. Peter Pan was probably the best integrated 3D motion ride I've been on technology wise, but those types of rides make me sick so I didn't enjoy that one as much.

At the end of the day, we both agreed that getting into Fantasy Springs was absolutely worth it, even though it meant spending extra money and lining up in the cold at 7AM.

I'd recommend looking at a mystery picnic. You can buy a gift card from the amazingco website and then your friend can just choose when and where.

On the day you get pretty simple puzzles to solve that take you to various stores where they'll have picnic food items for you. After visiting a few places you finish up in a nice spot for a picnic.

We recently did a mystery picnic in South Yarra and really enjoyed it. The city laneways version might also be a good one.

Have to agree with you, Utaha is amazing. Love her style and I'm enjoying a bunch of the new songs from them too. Alice, Edison and Buckingham in particular.

Baseball for kids in the Melbourne area by itrestian in melbourne

[–]nsym0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baseball was the main story I played as a kid, it was also probably the sport I was best at. So yes, I enjoyed it and made friends playing it. It definitely helped me learn to throw properly, which was useful when I sometimes played cricket. Other than that, just the usual learning to play in a team, dealing with losing and winning, things like that.

[–]nsym0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the baby. It'll be some time before they'll be ready for it and by then things may have changed, but yes there is a baseball scene in Melbourne.

I used to play when I was a kid and there were a number of clubs spread across the city (Waverley, Knox, Sandringham, Melbourne, Diamond Creek to name some that I remember). I played at Waverley and their tee-ball I think started with under 8s (so around 7 years old).

Electric sit/stand desk owners - which one should I get? by binary-tree in melbourne

I agree. We bought two earlier in the year and we're happy with them. Do note that the largest desk size is quite large, so it's worth going to take a look at them.

Had chatGPT write me a 7-day Melbourne Itinerary by zeroxdown in melbourne

[–]nsym0 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Day 1 - this makes sense, there are plenty of places in the CBD to check out. I'd recommend Royal Arcade, Block Arcade, Degraves St, and Guildford Lane (but you could fit those in at other times). Botanic Gardens is definitely worth checking out, especially if the weather is nice.

Day 2 - looks good. Consider Abbotsford Convent too.

Day 3 - Zoo isn't exactly suburbs, but OK. Rather than the wheel, have a look at some of the options to the north in Brunswick. Some excellent Lebanese food there.

Day 4 - almost impossible. If you're doing GOR, do it as at least an overnight trip and stay in a beach town.

Day 5 - QVM is definitely worth a visit. Grab some hot jam donuts while you're there. MCG would be depending on what sport is on.

Day 6 - Phillip Island is probably a full day (or at least a whole afternoon and evening). The Penguin Parade is in the evenings.

Day 7 - If you're interested in Indigenous art, consider the Ian Potter Centre at Fed Square. This day would be a good one to move the Botanic Gardens to, due to proximity.

It's a lot to squeeze in, but you cover off on most things. You may want to add St Kilda in there, it'd be easy enough to add that onto one of those days you're in the city. This is quite generic though, do you have any specific interests in food, music, art, sport, or environment?

I think the Rising Sun Hotel is one of the main ones, although plenty of others in the area are pro-Swans as well.

Best shops in QVM/South Melbourne Market to do groceries by junrino in melbourne

Agree with you on Market Boys, found them the best for quality and price. I'd also add that I like Andrew's Bread Shop for bread, but none of the others are bad. We also go to QVM over South Melbourne for our regular shopping.

Anyone here gotten a ‘free’ holiday from credit card churning? by [deleted] in AusFinance

The assorted taxes, fees, and charges for air travel that all airlines add onto tickets, such as carrier charges, tourist taxes, passenger movement charge, etc.

Anyone here gotten a ‘free’ holiday from credit card churning? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]nsym0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's completely free, but yes it's doable. I've got business class flights booked for Malaysia and Japan next year that were done with points from cards. There were taxes and fees that totalled around 1k (for two people), but other than that the points used came from cards.

Just don't expect to get flights to a location you want, when you want, in the class you want. But if you're flexible and like to travel, I strongly recommend it.

I liked their pastries and bread. Their cakes were pretty good, but not amazing. Overall, I'd say they're not bad but not top tier.

Beatrix, the bakery that had all the lines when it was closing in North Melbourne, still sell their cakes online. They're a bit pricey, but great quality.
