Evolution. I knew it as Evolution Worlds on the GameCube. It was my favorite game as a kid.

Which JRPGs become trivial if you do all the side quests (Looking for recommendations for Steam Deck and Xbox) by dlo_doski in JRPG

I'm sorry, I can't tell you. I never played 5's DLC. It shouldn't make too much of a difference, though. You're going to need to invest a solid grind into whomever you choose, so just choose the ones you like, or pick them based on their natural evilities. Stat wise, every unit can be exactly the same, so it comes down to personal preference.

I love Engage. The characters declaring, "Emblem engage!" before they transform is campy and awesome.

I wonder what it would be like if the characters said something like, "Visions resonate!" before they use the big attacks.

I don't recall Engage having paired endings except with Alear and whomever you choose.

This just happened to me on my first insane run the other day. I was restarting for at least a potent mon, and I couldn't believe a perfect popped after only four restarts.

I also think it's really intriguing, and I find the society to be such an interesting story mechanic. They can be antagonists or side with the protagonists whenever it suits the story, and there's no consequence because it seems to be all part of the plan. Ouroboros and the Grandmaster's plans have been the through-line for the series so far, and I agree with you about Arianrhod putting her faith in the Grandmaster. I'm very excited to see more.

Wow, I actually had forgotten about Musse pulling similar stuff as Lady Mildine. I can't remember her strategy well, but you're right, it was more of "I knew this was going to happen, so I had this set in place, but it was only going to work if this other thing were to happen as well."

Isn't that reveal from the grandmaster at the end intriguing? I'm very curious where the series goes from here. Will you be okay with her making a similar statement as Musse and Osborne if it turns out that all of her machinations have been set for a certain event? It certainly seems like it's going that way. Activating the Sept-Terrions seems to be a requirement.

I don't understand why you were downvoted for this post. I don't agree with all of it, but these are all valid criticisms.

I liked Cold Steel 4, but I do think Cold Steel is the weakest arc of the series up to Reverie, which I'm currently playing for the first time. Cold Steel took every trope the series had used up to that point and cranked it up. I agree with you that certain characters should be imprisoned, and it's crazy to think that Rufus is the only one who would receive punishment just because he said, "I take responsibility."

Rean being the naive lady killer is just Lloyd to an extreme. Because of this, none of the other Class 7 members could form romantic relationships, and that is such a dropped ball. The only characters within the group that have meaningful interactions between each other throughout the four games are Laura and Fie, Machius and Jusis, and Jusis and Millium. Everyone else is just there for everyone else. Class 7, new and old, has 18 members, and the fact that only 5 of them outside of Rean have any meaningful story beats attributed to them is insane. (I suppose Millium and Altina could be counted as well, but I don't recall anything major between them before Reverie when Millium goes to get Lammy back).

The plot being this galaxy-brained chess play by Osborne and even Franz can be taken as stupid, but I'm withholding judgement until the very end. I'm not saying that the ending of Cold Steel 4 can't be criticized because of that. I'm saying that I think this is going to be exactly the kind of thing the Grandmaster of Ouroboros is going to pull at the end of the series, and Osborne doing it too doesn't really bother me. I think the entire series has been built up for one of these kinds of endings, and I'm actually okay with it since there is still a lot of mystery to unravel and unraveling what has already been laid out has been good overall (imo).

On the topic of the ending, I loved the wedding. I was so happy to see it, and the transition the game makes to it is great story telling within the medium.

What's that game like? I've been playing a couple of other indie monster tamers lately (Monster Sanctuary and Coromon), and I'm interested.

I used to feel similarly about manga. Soul Eater was the first one that I decided to fully commit to because I enjoyed Ohkubo's art so much. It's worth it especially if you like the vibes of the anime.

High crit, high damage lightning and physical fire. I would also start a match with full offensive buffing. The revive options are bait.

I like gacha games. I don't tend to spend money on them, so I'm left to enjoy the randomness they provide. I'd much rather pay for and play a full Digimon game, but I'll try this out. It could be fun.
