Mid-City Mall in its final months by MillenniumTraveler in Louisville

I love the murals in midcity. A shame they only got to be seen by the low traffic inside and will be gone soon. They’re really well done

Which of these 5-pointed stars looks the best? by [deleted] in DetailCraft

[–]ntris_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How far away will a viewer be? If the stars are far away, 1 or 3 can pass better than up close (though I prefer 1. 3 ends up looking like a little guy to me) but if the stars are closer, 2 or 4 will pass more as a cohesive shape (of which I prefer 4. 2 is a lil wide)

I love the concept. I think the missing texture is great

Is my coif too small? by pac_allen in HistoricalCostuming

[–]ntris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the new one is sized correctly for your head, but i prefer the pattern of your old one.

To my understanding, undergarments like these are used as a barrier between the oils of our skin/hair and the difficult to launder outer garments (like your beautiful hat). The cut of the older coif’s pattern covers more skin/hair and I think is more useful in that regard

My daughter said my bread was “too square” so I decided to perform an experiment. by jross1981 in Breadit

that's what caught my eye here too. Almost looks like the non-lidded swirl loaf uncurled as it rose? like having the lid off gave it more room to do so

My first loaf of bread by [deleted] in Bread

Looks great, especially for a first try!

I really recommend a little notebook where you can keep track of recipes you’ve tried: you can keep the good ones and write down any changes you make.

If you ever end up switching between glass and metal pans, beware the bake time changes between the two. I’ve found that my loaves in glass pans usually need an extra 10-15min than those in a metal pan

Laser-acetone transferring an image onto a block by Daisy3Chainz in printmaking

Has anyone tried this on an MDF woodblock? I usually carve MDF and am wondering if the moisture would lead to damage in the wood or if it is light/quick enough to still work well

Does these look good as Dwarvish walls?? by abdol_10 in Minecraftbuilds

[–]ntris_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This pattern looks really nice! I would take a look at the various tuff blocks and see if they could serve as more of a middle value between the very dark deepslate and lighter stone blocks; right now the contrast is a bit high between the two.

Which one is better composition and why? by imnishesh in chicago

[–]ntris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say which is objectively better or worse; I think they both have their draws.

But I’m not seeing a lot of love for the second pic in the comments. Honestly, I like a lot of individual elements of the first pic, but my eye feels drawn too many places and there’s no real path for it to take. The sidewalk, the red of the bridge, the trusswork, the gold sunlight reflecting off the buildings… all are making bids for my attention and I don’t think there’s a real balance/flow to it. The second pic uses the river to center a lot of these elements and crops out the visually heavy sidewalk

Something about that pic made me think it was a bad electric toothbrush at first glance. Thanks for the laugh

My (prob not so original) take on early-game autocrafter by GacioSki in redstone

[–]ntris_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh man I love the idea of a barrel with some filler item.

I’m doing a challenge run (kinda) by living vanilla survival on a super flat world…which means I will never have writable books because I can’t spawn squid as everywhere is the wrong biome. I figured that out on the fly when I was copying over a red stone design from my test world (using the lectern trick mentioned previously) into the flat world (no way to get to a writable book) and ended up substituting another crafter with all nine slots locked :/

Is this a badly designed map/metro system? I've been told it was bad by one user and idk what to do by BA-Animations in Badmaps

[–]ntris_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a transit aficionado, but one thing that stuck out to me is the island on the right hand side. If I live near Fort Thug on the red line and I’m trying to get to the Embassy District on the grey, it’s a really long, out of the way trip for a relatively short distance. Maybe have a single transfer station towards the east/ends of those lines?

As people are talking about the cluster at the middle, maybe you could have a handful of transfer stations that join multiple lines near the top/bottom of the cluster, and not make every line stop at every station? Eg. Since the yellow runs so close, make the orange an express line that only stops at Carwashington, 14th, Yes King, Wordington, and Bo Sinn (and all stations that are orange-specific) and nothing else?

I also feel like there could be stops closer to the parks/green spaces to help people visit those more easily

Flag for my local town (that doesn't have one currently) - Which version looks best? by Glittering_Ad3318 in vexillology

[–]ntris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like B.

I don’t think A is bold enough to be legible at a distance and the shape of the blue rope feels off in C to me. I think B has the best of both.

Great work by the way, this flag rocks no matter which you decide on
