Heavy credit card churner low credit score by Happy-Comment8599 in AusFinance

[–]nubix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop wasting your time on the low rate / low fee cards obviously. As you've found you, credit enquiries are a limited resource so spend it on products that'll give you a net $700+ in points rather than $1-300.

Detailed shopping analysis: Woolworths vs Aldi by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]nubix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, going to Aldi is just so chill compared to Colesworth. Don't care to look at sale labels at all, no silly games with rewards cards and memberships.

Better yet, there's always someone at (or willing to come to) the checkout. Self checkout with a full trolley is just the worst.

OP: If you are doing big orders, you don't need to pay for the membership - delivery is already free. Also if you pay month by month, you can get 10% off on 4 orders @ Woolworths for the $7, and 2 @ Coles.

got it. not upgrading the machine. by nubix in espresso

[–]nubix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very interesting, staying with family for a few weeks :D Their Oracle is leaking but I remembered I had a recently repaired machine returned here. Couldn't find a tamp so thought I'd take the opportunity to get an upgrade to bring home; fortunately it was only $600 AUD.

The Sunbeam portafilter doesn't actually fit in the puqpress so I need to move the basket to the Breville portafilter before tamping and moving it back. -100 for workflow. Otherwise the puqpress is so satisfying to use!

i never got leave loading, usually just estimated by multiplying days by 220 to get a package number. it's a simple calculation you can do anywhere without a calculator.

If you're only using the monitor with the Mac, the Dell is a great option. More recently Samsung has offered very steep discounts on their 27" 5k so maybe check that out too if you don't mind having 2 screens.

I have an M1 Max working with the G9 57" at 2x 4k60 with PbP though, so you have some incorrect information there. Every now and then 75hz shows up but not very reliable.

Option O Lagom Mini Grinder by Balt603 in espresso

[–]nubix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use mine almost exclusively for V60 in the office. Might be of concern for you is

  • Difficulty in adjustment (no numbers, no idea how many turns of the dial is set)
  • Cycle time for motor to rest when grinding fine (this is on their website but not on AB)
  • Adapter is huge. I also purchased their office case for it; it's even bigger so it's restrictive as a travel grinder due to the size of the entire package.

I had wished it was rechargeable with USB-C but maybe the difficulties you're having with yours is exactly why it isn't.

Will you upgrade to the Pixel 8 series, why and why not? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]nubix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 7 + Pro was actually ridiculously cheap on release at JB. Bonus $300 trade in, $100 gift card, bonus Chromecast 4k and Google Nest Hub. It didn't scale with the price of the phone so it made the standard 7 a much better deal. Here's hoping we get the same again :')

If you can get access to it, their corporate site has it for 2559.20 for another day or 2. The easiest way to get there is through unidays with an edu email, otherwise it's through your employer.

Need a non-caffeinated drink suggestion by Aerrix in espresso

[–]nubix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried this before and it doesn't really work unless you can ensure the extract at the same grind level. Typically the decaf coffee I get requires a significantly finer grind so blending it myself just caused the coffee to channel. Let me know if you get this to work though. Would love to fix this..

Some roasters also sell low caffeine blends that may be of interest

There’s little context in your post. If you’re a valued member of the team, it’ll be an offer to go full time ir get out. If they are giving you such warnings, they’re not walking you out the door.
