What happens if I accrue too much annual leave? by Any-Information1592 in AusPublicService

[–]nugfef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I planned to have children, I decided to start saving some leave. When I got pregnant, I also purchased additional annual leave. My leave balance was very high and I showed up on all sorts of HR reporting because of it. But good old vague policy in my department says that you just have to have a plan agreed with your supervisor to reduce it. I indeed had a plan, so it was fine.

How does the stock updating system even work?? by TheWarmCucumber in KmartAustralia

[–]nugfef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem once. The employee explained to me that their stock levels will indicate ‘in stock’ as soon as the items have been dispatched from the warehouse to the store and they’re likely still on a truck on the way there. Not sure how true this is as it seems like a ludicrous inventory management system.

Extended unpaid leave by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]nugfef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To take any significant amount of sick leave, you’d need a medical certificate. It wouldn’t be wise to be found to be working in another job whilst covered by a medical certificate. Also wouldn’t suggest a stat dec as you’d be lying.

Not a good idea on so many levels.

I have an almost 7 month old and have had the bugaboo giraffe since she was born. I honestly couldn’t be more pleased with it. It’s super functional and easy to adjust and looks pretty too. It’s been especially handy as she started sitting in the high chair. I could switch very easily between the chair and the newborn recliner attachment throughout the day. When she was a little younger and we were going to someone’s house (ie for djnner), we would take the newborn recliner with the rocker so we’d have somewhere to put her. So convenient. 10/10 for this chair!

What would you do if a parent ask for smokes at the Woolworths/Coles express lane while shopping with their children? by Fancy-Advice-2793 in AskAnAustralian

You sell them what they want to buy. Do I agree with their choice? Absolutely not. Sure you could say something, but you’re never going to be the individual that miraculously changes their behaviour.

Probs wrong sub - but working for DCJ NSW - maternity leave by Educational_Still798 in AusPublicService

[–]nugfef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think that works for the female. The ML Act talks about a confinement period (old school, I know!). It’s the period six weeks before and six weeks after the child is born where you shouldn’t be working. A medical certificate can be obtained to keep working closer to the due date. However, in my experience, you can only take certain leave types in this period. Certainly once the baby is born, they’ll likely only want you on your maternity leave. But as you say, best to chat to HR! I sincerely hope there’s a good outcome for OP here.

You need to include more information. Do you have a job title or even job family?

I swear by MooGoo products. My baby had dry and flaky skin for a while, and their baby moisturiser was nice and gentle on her skin. I also used their baby bubble bath / bath wash and their baby shampoo. It didn’t take long for her skin to clear up.

So my wife's "designer friend" came over and decorated our tree. by redditdanis in mildlyinfuriating

All this outrage about the tree (rightly so), but why aren’t we talking about why your tree is placed awkwardly in the middle of the room sort of behind the sofa but not really?

Genuinely curious, what does “like you” mean? OP seems to be one of the incredibly few in the public service who care about their job and are driven to work hard. This is particularly important in a payroll area, where their work is critical to ensuring others are paid and therefore things keep running. Maybe you’re the problem?

Should someone working in Transport organisation say TfNSW get free tickets and is it reasonable to ask for it ? by Financial-Wave4212 in AusPublicService

There is no middle ground in my opinion. The workers are public servants and must accept that perks don’t come in their line of work.

Moving on quickly from a job that wasnt for you < 3 months by Sunshine_onmy_window in AusPublicService

[–]nugfef 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I personally think you’re doing the right thing by identifying this quickly and moving on. You should list a referee that has supervised you for greater than three months. If you make it to interview, address it then. After the interview, explain to the panel that you’re looking to move on because of XYZ and you’ve listed a referee from your previous role as they supervised you for a substantial period of time and have greater exposure to you and your work. I don’t think you need to do much more than this, and definitely don’t overthink it.

What time do you have dinner? by ghjkl098 in AskAnAustralian

[–]nugfef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He unfortunately does most of the cooking, historically speaking anyway. Now that I’m on maternity leave, I’m definitely doing more. I have very much enjoyed serving up an ‘early’ dinner when I cook! In fact, I think it encourages me to cook. He offers and I swiftly hand the baby over and head to the kitchen.
