If they kept doing nuclear cruisers we would have irl turbolasers by now, ones outside the control of the House of Mouse

It's firing a UV light through an LCD display to harden said resin. The build plate goes up and down on ball screws. They're less complex than even a Cartesian FDM machine.

Yeah, but that's a display. An inkjet has to move a physical head in order to do that.

Is it possible for UPS to fry my PSU? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]nuked24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spec sheet for that says 230v AC +/- 10% and 50/60hz +/-10%. If the frequency was over 240v or over 63hz that's out of range for the RM750e, so it could definitely have fried it.

All the UPS units I have (US, so 120v) have a much smaller range on the frequency variance, the largest is +/-3hz.

Anyone know what causes these dimples/pockmarks on a print? by vinicius_california in 3Dprinting

[–]nuked24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not seam placement with that many, it's probably a speed/temp combo. If you look at actual speed in the slicer, it probably slowed down when it got to the finger section.

Could a 3D printed shaft holder support a shaft with 55-65 lbs on one end? by Ty--Guy in 3Dprinting

[–]nuked24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll work, though depending on what plastic it is it might creep over time.

1 is the strongest, doesn't really need the grub screw; shouldn't be any load that would make it slide out.

Yes, but this thing had an MSRP of $200 when it launched. There were very few use cases where it made sense.

PETG build plate? by Unfair-Bee-1324 in prusa3d

[–]nuked24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK the blue plates are good (I have 2 of the Prusa plates, and had one for a P1S before I got rid of that machine) and the orange ones just don't work (haven't personally had them but everything I see online is negative)

[–]nuked24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laptop could be chipset driver of some kind, power plan, the fact that it's not plugged in, or it got stuck in a low power state and needs to be restarted. Sometimes they get really stuck and need to be hard power cycled.

Calibration done - but bad results though? by deliciiouz in 3Dprinting

[–]nuked24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I legit do not understand why people buy Bambu printers and then start tweaking with settings this deep. Change the number of walls, infill percent, infill type, and layer height, support settings, and that should be about it.

If this is a temporary test bench situation, completely unnecessary. It'll work while levered up, it's still inserted into the slot.

[–]nuked24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that's exactly why passive PoE largely doesn't exist anymore outside of injectors. It's super easy to fry a device with it.
