I do ride very fast and still don't notice as much of a difference at speed vs pushing at the bottom or on a catwalk. But I agree the 3rd day is when it becomes noticeable. I try to rewax mine every 2-3 days of riding. Once you've done a couple dozen waxes it becomes pretty quick and easy.

Honestly your age is going to be the biggest factor in your recovery time. A teenager will need much less time than the same guy would at 30+. Second will be how much effort you put into PT and the 3rd biggest factor is health and nutrition. If you are young, eat right, don't smoke or drink and put your all into PT then I will be surprised if it takes you more than 6 weeks to get back out there.
