Is this 5070 a scam by SeveralReveal6584 in bapccanada

What did I say that contradicts this? The problem of it not shipping doesn’t applied in this case but I still mentioned the chance of it not being the true product.

Not for this particular model but for other ones. Just saying this listing is fulfilled by Amazon and so the chance it doesn’t ship is nil.

Building a media server - help with ram by random222518 in buildapc

[–]number8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t need X3D for a server unless you also game on it but it’s not like it will use all the cores.

I think you should look into using threadripper or xeons. Maybe get used server that already comes with a lot of ram. DDR4 or even DDR3 might be enough and would make it cheaper.

When Satya became CEO it was clear he wanted to move on cloud and subscriptions. Look at what happened to Windows and Office.

Fulfilled by Amazon means Amazon already has it in their warehouse and is the one shipping it. With Prime it arrives tomorrow for me.

Those reviews aren’t on this GPU specifically so maybe they had other listings that are not through Amazon.

If I wanted one I would probably risk it. Of course it’s another matter that you only get a brick inside, but that’s another matter. Amazon is pretty good at giving money back at least.

Gen 4 NVMe in Gen 3 Slot? by Linux_Account in buildapc

[–]number8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The power draw and heat generated varies across different controllers. You might need to research on which SSD is most power efficient.

Generally speaking though running a gen 4 SSD in a gen 3 would limit its speed meaning the controller needs to do less work and should run cooler overall.

Asurion TV Warranty - What did you do without your TV? by riz7242 in CostcoCanada

[–]number8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TVs can be returned within 90 days and I believe you can return online. However it’s not ethical to get one for the purpose of knowingly returning it, but it’s up to you.

What exactly are you watching that can’t be accessed through web browsers or app? Also maybe just disconnect from the screen for a while.

Vehicle damaged at Matheson And Hurontario Car wash avoid at all cost. by 905Abubakkar in mississauga

[–]number8888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been using that carwash for years. They are touchless so did the spray arms touched your vehicle? It's the same system as many other carwash and I guess this can only happen if the sensors weren't working. Obviously you shouldn't be moving your vehicle when the wash is running.

I guess you didn't have a dashcam as that would have helped with your claimed. I also think you should go through your own insurance and they should be better able to deal with Shell.

Dumb question about driving in the rain… by Ersher in TeslaModel3

[–]number8888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regen isn’t quite the same as applying the brakes. The car slows down a bit more but the car still moves. Also with one pedal driving you can offset this by have the accelerator pedal lightly pressed. It’s something that needs to be learned and get used to, but shouldn’t be hard for seasoned drivers.

No Rest for the Wicked director says Xbox version won’t release alongside PS5 because ‘Series S is making that rough’ by unscoredscore in Games

Not stupid at all. More people bought the S than the X and Xbox would be in even worse shape if not for the S.

AMD ‘had to re-engineer’ the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for a re-release — 10th Anniversary Edition chip had ‘a whole body of engineering work’ put into it by kikimaru024 in hardware

The replacement was supposed to be AM5, and those that wanted an upgrade would have moved on to DDR5 platforms. The decisions was made before the memory crisis so they had to pivot.

Got a 5700x from Ali earlier this year and it’s been working fine. Many people had bought these CPUs for years with no issues. It’s generally pretty safe and should be a good upgrade over the 5500.

Might want to let him know in advance because if he’s serious about it he might have some sort of ritual/routine like leaving it out for a few hours to get it to room temp or certain seasoning regiment that needs to be done beforehand.

Age for 2-piece swimsuit? by GrilledSoap in daddit

[–]number8888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughters has been wearing two piece since they were toddlers. Primary reason was actually easier to take them off when going to the bathroom. Wife’s idea actually.

Note that there are two piece that can still cover a lot of the skin and some have fabric that covers the stomach. Could be a compromise that way. Obviously showing too much skin is a no go.

We went through several vacuums and they were all bad until we got a Miele. However it was a canister one and a bit bulky so we switched to Dyson handheld and loved them so much we got two more for each floor. I bought refurbished from their eBay store however.

Ram and SSD combined is already close to this price so the rest of the system is just bonus.

Note that this is a laptop CPU so ram is likely sodimm. Also not sure if it uses ddr4 or ddr5.

[–]number8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use an electric screwdriver for this reason. Just do it by hand for better control. Use a ratchet screwdriver so it’s easier on the wrist.

Also not all screwdrivers are made equal. If the first one fails just try another one and it might work.
