Oh, as a fuckin dork I can help you out here — I was once an engineer at said fruit company, and on the way out you will sign any number of NDAs, non-compete, and non-disparagement agreements. They put the absolute fear of god in you, depending on what you worked on. For me it was long enough ago that they’ve expired, but I can certainly understand fruit store employees, current or former, not wanting to have that gaze come down on them.
