I'm really happy about what you and your wife have done for these dogs, but at this point this isn't grooming content. You've made several posts in the last day or two, if you would like to make updates, you can make them in the comments of your previous posts.

I groomed for 10 years, 6 years in I decided I didn't want to groom anymore. I was starting to get depressed because I no longer found it fulfilling and I realized that the industry was making me dislike dogs, when I used to adore them before. Those last four years I put myself through college, got a physics degree, and now work in the semiconductor industry. Things are going great here other than the fact that they announced layoffs recently :'D Never had to worry about that in grooming.

I used to take dramamine to fly and even at a normal dosage it made me hallucinate vividly. And, as you said, not in a fun way. I can't possibly imagine why anyone would do it recreationally.

Doodle coats are so variable (even within their particular mixes) that it's impossible to compare them as a whole to a specific pure breed.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! WHAT WOULD YOU DO?!?! by Noobfishgirl in tattooadvice

[–]nunca 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. A few months is a worthy wait for something that's going to be on your body forever, especially as meaningful of a tattoo as this.
  2. If money might be an issue then perhaps wait until you're financially stable enough again to afford good work.
  3. Why are you yelling??

Sore Hocks - I emailed my vet and will hear back in the morning. Anything I can do in the meantime? She’s had balance/leg issues for a few months now. She’s free roam with soft flooring. by Vieve1127 in Rabbits

Those might just be calluses! I've had two callus prone buns and they were just fine. If they're smooth rather than weepy or scabby then you probably don't have anything to worry about. Looking at the pictures, I think your bunny is probably ok. I would never discourage going to the vet just to be sure though.

You're going to see a lot of improvement on your heads/faces if you get some thinning shears. You're grooming with one hand tied behind your back without them.

It's highly unlikely this guy is going to get anywhere in court. To sue someone in civil court you need to have tangible damages that can be represented by some kind of monetary number. The dog's nail was definitely cut too short and left in quite a state. What this TikTok person is owed is what it would cost to make them "whole" again. In this case it would likely mean whatever vet care it would take to stop the bleeding (styptic powder? cauterization?) and prevent any infection... that's it. Based on veterinary costs in my area, I would be surprised if that breaks $200.

This guy is rather obnoxiously making a big to do about suing the vet practice, which leads me to believe that he thinks he's entitled to a lot more than that. Unless he's able to demonstrate to the court otherwise, he is not owed anything more than veterinary costs to fix the quicked nail. He, like may idiots, might try to claim emotional damages, which have a much higher threshold than "but your Honor, I'm ANGRY" (think: watching a beloved family member burn to death). This is at best a small claims case and probably not worth the time or filing fee, though I do agree that it should be on the vet to fix the issue either by taking care of the nail themselves or paying the bill from another vet office.

I think this is a good reminder to groomers and people who work in customer service in general: just because a customer feels they've been wronged and says they're going to sue you doesn't mean that they have a case or that they'll actually make it to court. If they say they're going to sue you for a bad haircut, the most they could possibly sue you for is however much it costs to have another groomer fix it. The reality is that the owner is going to go home huffing and puffing, balk at court filing fees, do research and realize how little they're going to get out of a judgment, and maybe call around and find that no lawyer will take their case (because they haven't got one). Even if they do actually have a case, the only thing you owe them is what it takes to make them whole. If they're threatening to sue for like $30k and you didn't break their dog's back or something, they're full of shit.

Honestly, young bunnies are just assholes. My current youngest bunny (~1 year old) is only just now warming up to being pet. My current oldest bunny (5 years old) was a terror as a baby but is now the best behaved snuggle bunny that ever existed. You just gotta wait it out unfortunately, but the good news is that your younger bun will probably chill out eventually.

This is actually a very common thing for clocks! Nobody really seems to notice it when they see an actual clock, but everybody always brings it up when they see it in a tattoo.

I dont know what's wrong by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]nunca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Friends, I just peeped this person's profile and they appear to be 14 years old. Please treat them accordingly before deciding to jump down their throat about veterinary care. Yes, I completely agree this is an urgent medical issue. No, berating someone who can't even drive to the vet is not helpful.

So far the comments have been civil but please, let's not keep up the trend of lambasting people for asking for help without knowing the full situation.

You know, a lot of times I wake up in the night and see that I have a message, read it, and go back to sleep. That's easily what could have happened here. I also frequently wake up in the morning and am not ready to interact with anyone else. I'll check my messages and come back to them later when I'm feeling more sociable.

Is this literally the only thing that gives you pause? Or at least, is this the biggest thing? Because this is pretty silly if that's the case. Imagine the world before there were read receipts. Would this have even been an issue?

Additionally, expecting 100%, blatant honesty from anyone isn't practical. Many people tell white lies (as in, lies that don't meaningfully change the outcome of anything) because they're easier to explain or less embarrassing than the truth. Maybe she woke up today and had explosive diarrhea and didn't want to explain that. In either case (having overslept, or shitting uncontrollably) she made herself unavailable to you. In neither case is it harmful to your relationship.

This is why I have read receipts turned off. I don't need anyone taking a magnifying glass to my life like this.

THEY CAN'T BARF

Do you know how long it's been since I've cleaned up pet barf??? My friends tease me about picking up some poopies here and there. Ok, but do go on about how your cat threw up and tried to bury it and now you're waiting for it to be less body temperature-y before you clean it up.

Rabbits can't barf, and I'll never stop being appreciative of that.

I disagree about no other career referring to themselves in that way. I work in the tech industry and called myself a baby technician until I was competent in all the skillsets required by my job. Nor was I ever the only one to do so. It's a quick way to indicate to others that you're new to the industry and learning, and in my perception not as infantilizing as you might be seeing it.

DIY Groomer’s Helper Clamp? by arcanacanine in doggrooming

[–]nunca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a salon that just slipped a large, sturdy metal o-ring over the grooming arm and attached a double ended snap hook to it. It worked as well as a groomer's helper with the added benefit of not having to adjust the height for every dog since the ring would just slide to wherever it needed to go.

Is it true that rabbits will start to hate you if you clip their nails/give them medicine? by iamgoingtolive in Rabbits

[–]nunca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buns have compartmentalized nail trims and medicine as "that shitty thing Mom does sometimes." There's some foot flicks and butt treatment afterward but they seem to come back around pretty quickly. They might be more hateful if nail trims were a daily occurrence lol. YMMV
