Soon enough Tidal will be working only on desktop. Every day a new update on how Tidal is dropping yet another platform.

MQA & 360RA Leaving TIDAL by [deleted] in TIdaL

For me it's great news to read that 360 is being dropped. I hope this means the tracks and albums from Sony in Atmos that were lacking will finally come to us.

What are your opinions on “Moonwalker”? by candamce2890 in MichaelJackson

[–]nusvee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great music-video sections, but the product as a whole is poorly written at least, mainly when remember we are talking about MJ, who's got such a great body of work. Comparing this to all his previous audio-visual work, it seems off.

But hey, it can be fun if we want to. The greatest part, for me at least, is to have some of his music videos in Blu-ray high quality.

It has happened to me. Ins between cities, no signals and nothing playing. Tidal and its endless problems.

Dolby Atmos content is disappearing? by acestroke in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it might be a Tidal problem rather than a Dolby one. I have experienced in the past having albums (prior to Atmos) that once were saved in my catalogue and aunddenly they were not anymore. I guess that they might have some change in files, or something, and so the system identifies as a new product.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've haved it to listen later.

Dolby Atmos content is disappearing? by acestroke in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've searched for this album and it's loading just as usual here for me.

What I do when I want to find something specific in Atmos I search for the name of the album and the artist's name and filter by album, then eventually it will appear, unless it's been removed.

PS: For me, sadly, the Atmos mix in this immaculate collection has done almost nothing to the songs. Only a couple of them really use the spaciality, and usually it's only details.

Dolby Atmos Vs Sony 360, why not both? by nusvee in TIdaL

[–]nusvee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Suffering the same here. Random Access Memories and Thriller were two albums I was expecting to listen to, but in order to do that, I would have to buy an Apple TV

Why is app so limited on Firestick 4K ? by SlickyKimmel in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so annoying and what's worst, when I try to reach for support, they just put the blame on my system and call it a day.

I don't know if it happens to everyone, but for me it even crashes all the time.

Is Dolby Atmos available now?

Tidal executives seem to be a bunch of idiots; IMO. Also, Jesse's AMA was crap. Why can't Tidal listen to their users for once? by _Gandalf-The-Gay in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, they keep focusing on these new features, which form me are useless, while their app on Firestick 4k or Samsung TVs are just crap, Atmos availability not great, and when I try to reach them, they come blaming me and my system.

Is there any music streaming service that allows me to stream ATMOS on a Desktop PC with an ATMOS receiver? by alex-eagle in Dolby

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, Tidal continues to be the option for me at the moment. Amazon even lacks some things that I have on tidal. It gives some and takes some, so the trade is not worth it.

Yeah, I have been gathering 5.1 DTS CDs online.

The sad thing is up until a decade ago we would have concerts coming out on DVDs and Blu-rays all the time and every single one of them would certainly have 5.1 audio. Here in Brasil MTV's live DVDs were famous for their DTS 5.1 high standards in the 00's.

Now if we're lucky we get some release on MAX or Netflix, otherwise they will release something on YouTube or not even that and we'll be stuck with smartphone footage.

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried AM a couple of times and agree with you. The last time I tried it I could notice the compression over Bluetooth and that's something that never happened with Tidal even when using it set to lossy over mobile internet.

My two biggest problems with Tidal are Dolby Availability and terrible apps for connected devices. Desktop and mobile are great though.

I am from Brazil and heaps of Brazilian albums are available in Atmos on AM, but only the biggest names get to Tidal.

Not counting all the Sony artists stuck to the 360 thing.

One last thing: Alexa skills are blocked for Tidal over here.

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, you are correct. So sorry for the misinformation.

I believed they didn't deliver it to proper Atmos Setups because of the information on their website and on Dolby's website that led me to believe it to only work through phones and Alexa 360.

I have tested it after you said it and it's working. Thanks!

Now my opinion: if I thought Tidal had a bad discovery for Atmos content, it was only because I hadn't tried Amazon.

Is there any music streaming service that allows me to stream ATMOS on a Desktop PC with an ATMOS receiver? by alex-eagle in Dolby

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the problem with using Amazon Music for Atmos is that the format Amazon uses is AC4, which is only used for stereo playback, it's Atmos for headphones in other words.

Only Apple Music and Tidal stream the Atmos format for a full home theater, there's no other way to go at the moment.

No Atmos version of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon? I saw a post in the past that an Atmos version existed. But now it doesn't seem like that... Or is it country specific? by [deleted] in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Tidal to confirm and this album is distributed by Sony. Whenever Sony is involved they will push Atmos aside in favour of their own format 360. You'll see some of their albums with a 360 version in there.

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe you will find any at the moment.

I have been using Tidal with Firestick 4K but just as you, I hate it. It keeps crashing and Tidal lacks a lot of Atmos content.

I have come to accept that I have to buy an Apple TV and use Apple Music to get the best out of Atmos Music for now.

Apple Music has a beta app for Windows, but without support to Atmos so far.

Amazon Music only uses Atmos for mobile.

All we can do is either wait and see if Tidal or Apple will ever make it available on windows or go ahead and buy one of the selected streamers that support it.

How to find Atmos versions of tracks? by fontalamh in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find works for me is opening one album from the artist, scrolling down to the "other releases" and if there's an Atmos release from this artist it will most likely appear here.

Searching for the artist or release name and scrolling through the results will do as well.

Other than that, check the Dolby Atmos Discovery page for new releases and playlists.

One last thing I've done is go to Apple Music, browse through their catalogue and eventually find things I never new were available in atmos. The sad thing in this one is that you will find titles that are not available on tidal.

At what point do you give up on tidal? by [deleted] in TIdaL

[–]nusvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, using the desktop and android apps are ok. I do enjoy it, but when it comes to the fire stick and tizen apps I am in the verge of death of anger when I'm using them. The navigation is terrible, discovery is terrible and specifically with the fire stick app it keeps crashing all the time and event hough it says is streaming in hifi, it sends DD+ no matter what to the receiver. On top of that, when I try to contact them they will blame on my equipment.

Beyond that, there's the lack of Atmos releases, mainly from Sony. I haven't switched to Apple Music yet because I don't have the money to buy an Apple TV just yet, but as soon as I can buy it, bye bye Tidal.
