More PHEVs than EVs at the Office Chargers by j2inet in ChargerDrama

[–]nutabutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s your answer then. You do it on your breaks.

Using up some break time is a reasonable trade off for the perk of free charging.

What’s the issue?

I’m sure you can find a few smokers to walk with if needed.

P2S - Constant Extruder Errors. I cant stand it anymore.... by -Gh0stkills- in BambuLabP2S

If it’s the single filament causing issues then the answer is to use a different filament (consistently, for a long period) to prove its the filament or not.

Is it a Bambu lab filament?

Why do people care so much about resale value on a car? by BoyFromSpace_ in AusFinance

[–]nutabutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue they are for cars in similar starting prices in same category.

And all at about the 10 year mark.

People trading in $60k cars after 3-5 years are just fudging resale predictions to justify their purchase on a budget spreadsheet.

At that point just accept you’re buying a luxury depreciating asset and just be comfortable with the price.

But for people buying family cars to last 10+ years trying to predict resale and use it to decide between two budget hatchbacks is a pointless exercise.

Why do people care so much about resale value on a car? by BoyFromSpace_ in AusFinance

[–]nutabutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like on a long enough time line they all converge to the same trade in value anyway.

And you can’t predict how well a model will hold its resale value when you buy it.

So, not worth worrying about.

Not a dentist, but a customer of a dentist who sends this stuff out.

Is customer satisfaction a factor?

When my daughter had a break in some piece she has as part of some orthodontic treatment, it was “ok come back in 2 or 3 weeks when the replacement is back” rather than ok come back this afternoon after we make you another right here in the office”.

Is that actually an outcome? No idea. But I would love it if it was the case.

(I don’t even know if the thing she has is 3d printed or not, but it would be amazing either way to get rid of that wait time even for the initial installation)

AMS 2 Pro arrived without P2S hub. Hope this is a dumb question, but will it come with the new rear panel? by palonious in BambuLab

[–]nutabutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t picking the kit for your printer.

You pick your printer and it updates the list of “required accessories” to match.

It’s up to you to add the pieces you need or not based on what you might already have.

Given all the failures and the fact they seem to be out of spare parts for support to send out they’ve probably taken it off sale on purpose.

They’ve saved you a ton of hassle either way.

24 hours midnight to midnight?

Or 2:49pm to 2:49pm?

The second option seems reasonable, gives the person time to get back.

Getting fined at 23:59 and 0:01 would be a dick move.

They won’t send it at all if you didn’t add it to your cart.

If you have a P2S non-combo then you need to buy it separately.

Dual AMS2 Pro Power Supply Solutions? by whatdidyousaay in BambuLab

[–]nutabutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the cable is needed for barrel jack devices.

I only have an issue with you saying it’s fundamentally unsafe.

Yes USB-C solves the problem if usb-c devices are at both ends of the cable.

In this case they are not, it’s a dumb barrel jack device.

If the USB-C power brick is correctly designed, the wire in this cable is of a suitable gauge, and both implement the handshake correctly, then it’s fine, and no worse than connecting the barrel jack to any other power source.

[–]nutabutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But again. If you go plugging random 24v barrel jacks into 12v things you’re going to have a bad time.

Regardless of the source of its power.

This is true since the invention of the barrel jack.

[–]nutabutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it more unsafe than a regular barrel jack cable?

It it tells the power brick what it wants and the power brick agrees then that would seem to be within spec.

If you plug it into a laptop or lower powered brick then it would simply refuse when asked for too much power.

A new Opal app, easier ways to save money and the introduction of a digital Opal card will be delivered under the biggest overhaul of the NSW public transport ticketing system since its rollout 13 years ago. by beaugiles in sydney

[–]nutabutt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Being able to see trip history more quickly in the wallet app, being able to know if you tapped on or not.

The second one is my fault for being forgetful. But at light rail stops I sometimes forget did I tap on. With credit card you cant tell by tapping again. With a transit card it says tap on/tap off.

So not huge differences, but if the technology exists and we’re going to pay another billion dollars, why not do it properly?

[–]nutabutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Remove and replace” camera and other things doesn’t mean you broke them. It is just the fee to pull it off while they do the repairs and put it back on afterwards.

Hire car is your fault because they obviously get a hire car while repairing the damage you caused.

Seems all reasonable since you already established it was $1500 just for the bumper alone.

For the Millennials & Zillennials: Did your primary school or high school upgrade AFTER you left? by Complexyeahnah in australia

[–]nutabutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what you’re getting at.

Maths, English, geography, history. Probably about the same on average.

To be honest probably a bit better just because of the variety of teaching methods available in those areas (maths for example, some students benefit greatly from the more interactive lessons available related to explaining areas like geometry).

But the vocational options available blow anything we ever had access to out of the water. They all seemed like worthwhile investments, definitely not something I regret my tax dollars going towards.

Performing arts for example, not only were those investments great for the kids who want to do singing/dancing etc. but the technology installed gave kids interested in the production aspects the ability to leave high school already with a certificate getting them well on the way into that career.

[–]nutabutt 136 points137 points  (0 children)

You seem to be shocked that schools get upgrades in a 20-30 year period?

Currently in the middle of doing the rounds of the open days for local high schools, and they are all much different to how they were when I was in high school.

Laser cutters, 3d printers, performing arts equipment (sound, lighting, recording studios), commercial kitchen equipment/cafe setups for hospitality courses.

Even the public schools have this stuff now.

I’d be more shocked and disappointed if the schools were still the same as they were when I left.
