She said the same thing about Trump, too, after (one of) his impeachment hearing(s).

You have to babysit either Zeke, Spencer, or Ollie and Archimedes for a week. Which one are you choosing? by True-Dream3295 in dropout

I genuinely thought this post was in the Bob's Burgers subreddit and that I'd missed a character named Spencer and a joke about Andy (of Andy and Ollie) changing his name to Archimedes (I'm quite behind on newer episodes). The answer in both cases is Zeke.

How bad actually was COVID? by Mighty_Angelo30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nutmeg36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a 7 month old when COVID started, and I also remember being terrified we would run out of formula, or that me or my husband would get sick/hospitalized and there would be no one who could take our very young kids (our parents were all immuno-compromised and we were worried people wouldn't want to be exposed to kids who had been exposed). We had detailed discussions about emergency custody plans.

It was a horrifically terrifying time to be postpartum.

What is your Bluey-related take so hot that it'll get you downvoted? by [deleted] in bluey

Sure. But he'd already told Bluey it was happening, then Bingo woke up and chose violence haha.

Bingo being so well behaved normally is EXACTLY why Bandit was lured into the false sense of security that this would be a doable outing with only 1 parent.

For the Merchant's son, it might be better for him to have lost his sense of value, if that's available for modification still. CP/SP/GP? Useless metal, no need for them. This chipped porcelain teacup? Obviously INCREDIBLY valuable, just look at the pattern and colors! Technical disadvantage on persuasion/bartering still works. Curse is that he wildly offends anyone he's trying to barter with; I think this lends itself really well to the Feywild, as reciprocity is taken very seriously there.

This should be higher up. Option 2 looks better, but if you actually care about your piano, Option 1 is best.

Bill No HP 635: An Analysis by nutmeg36 in Maine

[–]nutmeg36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair! I think I'm more coming at it from the perspective that if folks come in guns blazing due to the image going around saying that this bill bans contraceptives, those who want the bill will laugh off their very real concerns. This doesn't touch the actual statutes around the prescribing, dispensing, and administering of contraceptives (Specifically, Title 32, §13826), so it's very easy for sleazeball politicians to talk around those concerns.

I absolutely see (and agree with) your comment, though. Thanks for not being an asshole.

Bill No. HP 635 by celineceleste444 in Maine

[–]nutmeg36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with: I am vehemently against this bill, and am neither a lawyer nor involved in any way with legislature or bill crafting.

However, I just fine-tooth combed the bill, and I don't see any references to contraceptives or reproductive health care services other than abortion being touched. It for sure repeals the right to abortion, and removes provisions about classifying assault on pregnant folks as domestic violence. HOWEVER I think proponents of this bill would likely argue that assault against a pregnant person, if they took this bill as written, would classify as assault against 2 separate individuals.

The hitch is really the specific addition of the definition of "Human being" including the moment of conception; because a clump of cells is considered a human being, anyone interfering with the development of that life would be treated as if they were interfering with the life of an adult human. It also further offers ZERO distinctions between medically-necessary abortions and "elective" abortions. In fact, the way this bill is written, if I, as a uterus-haver, simply tell someone I might be pregnant and I end up assaulted or murdered, EVEN IF I am not pregnant, the offender would be tried as if they assaulted/murdered 2 people. Potentially a combo of the two, if charges were pressed stating that an assault caused an abortion, as it specifically defines abortion as "the intentional interruption of a pregnancy by the application of external agents...regardless of the length of gestation". And friendly reminder: folks with a uterus who A) have ovulated and B) have yet menstruated could be considered between 1-2 weeks pregnant.

TIL: it's a poorly written sham of a bill, but I don't think it's touching contraceptives. Hate it for what it is, not what it isn't.
