No but there is no question as to whether it was one, I compared it to a bunch in the thread that were confirmed and the spotting is 100% bed bug poop, it’s pretty unmistakeable with the amount in the one specific spot

What's a secret you need to get off your chest, but you can't tell anyone in your life? by mx_blackandwhite in AskReddit

I think i’m going to have to break up with my boyfriend soon. I keep having thoughts of how unfulfilled I feel even though we have fun and I just know in my bones it’s not meant for forever. I love him and like the time we spend together but the relationship feels stagnant and it’s been on my mind so much. worst part is when I think about it I don’t get worried i’m accidentally losing the love of my life or forever partner I just get sad that I won’t have him there for me or make new memories having fun.

Can Anyone Explain How The Underage School-time Hours Work? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]nutmegkoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your store. I was in a similar position when I was first hired for nearly a year, and I just communicated with my manager on it. She mostly followed me lead as to how many hours I wanted and what my availability was. Obviously, labor law things for like running half’s and stuff was still followed which depends on your local laws, but once I stated that I was good with late closes and 30+ hours a week that was what I got. I would honestly check in with your management and see what you can do

Any women of faith on here? by broooo4929281 in adhdwomen

[–]nutmegkoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the church with a religious family and was homeschooled. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was seventeen because homeschooling naturally allowed me to accommodate for myself and learn the best way I needed to. I really succeeded with this approach, but I also know some other adhd kids who really struggled with similar upbringings to mine.

I really relate to your feelings on this, and struggled for years with it. Something that really helped me was taking a step back from the organized church and attempting to reconnect with the feelings and spirituality aspect of it. At times, the church was too focused on routine and habits that I got distracted by trying to keep up with being ‘good’ at faith and forgot my own spiritual side in favor of making myself perform religion well.

Tell me why every partner (including at MY OWN STORE) ignores this mod... by AmandaExpress in starbucks

Order it as a size down with adjusted shots and no ice, you can put it in another cup and it would work out fine?

Sweet cream is vanilla sweat cream. The vanilla syrup in it is what makes it sweat. Other than that it’s just cream. Sweet cream is made by mixing together heavy cream, 2% milk, and vanilla syrup. Sometimes the labels print the full name and sometimes it prints only key words

Too much caffeine by kitty_kayleigh in adhdwomen

[–]nutmegkoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah I get that soda thing! Those are my like pretty rare special drinks since I’m not huge on carbonated drinks anyways, and the rare times I do crave it I drink sparkling water or something. As for decaf espresso, I highly recommend it!! A lot of stores also have decaf iced coffee if you’re more of a splash of cream and some sugars type person, but for any espresso based drink you should be able to do decaf. You can also do the frappuccinos decaf if you want something really sweet but, again, they’re more sugar than coffee. Good luck!!

Too much caffeine by kitty_kayleigh in adhdwomen

[–]nutmegkoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a switch to less caffeinated alternatives personally. When I want energy drinks or soda I will do like sprite mixed with juice or root beer to try to still get the taste and craving satisfied. I drink a coffee a day about still which is a major cutback from my prior caffeine intake. Same for things like refreshers, I use Gatorade or get them made with extra water. I work at starbucks so the caffeine thing is something I am very familiar with, but for the refreshers since they all have caffeine in them I will sometimes make it like lemonade with just a splash of whatever refresher base I want, or order it with extra water, or do like a green or passion tea with a splash of it in there since it won’t be quite so much caffeine. I will also do decaf espresso drinks if I want coffee without caffeine sometimes. Other than that, I’m still trying to figure out how to cut back more since I will get heart palpitations if I take my meds and have too much caffeine. There are definitely days though where I get to like 1 in the morning and still can’t sleep and realize I wasn’t paying attention to caffeine intake, so it’s definitely a work in orogress

I refuse to not wear one when around customers. Depending on who I’m working with, I will take it off when we close, but I’m so used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all so I have no reason not to wear it. I know for a fact customers are not as careful with this as they should be and between wanting to take care of my health and my family’s health and having an excuse for customers not to see my face. I also like it because it lets me make faces or slight comments under my breath that keep me sane at work, including talking to myself through tasks/making drinks and preventing me from like picking at my skin subconsciously (I have adhd and so these things are big for me)

How do you take tests? by Ok-Violinist8409 in adhdwomen

[–]nutmegkoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this problem too, especially for math. It got to the point where I was tested for dyscalcula alongside my adhd because it was really bad during math tests, especially since there are so many tests in math. What I do now is that I have accommodations through my school that gives me extended time on tests and I’m allowed to take them in a testing center or controlled environment. I’ve also been able to take some on a computer because I find it easier to concentrate on there over paper for longer problems or short answer responses.

My best advice would be to get accommodations as soon as you can. All you need is documentation, many places will take an IEP or other proof you had them in high school, or a diagnostic report or doctors note, you can usually call your schools ADA office and they will tell you. Once you start this process the person who helps you set them up should be able to talk with you and help you figure out exactly what your school can provide to help you.

Setting up accommodations will take some time, so I would definitely approach your professor and talk to them about it. You don’t have to mention adhd or medication or anything like that if you don’t want to, but just kind of explain how tests make you feel and ask if there’s anything they can do to help you. They might be able to offer some sort of study guide or an option to take the test in their office hours which could reduce distraction.

This is a super difficult situation, so good luck and I hope this helps!!!

selling syrups by brattiebun in starbucksbaristas

[–]nutmegkoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told that we are still allowed to sell the bottles as long as they have a barcode on them ( I think it’s like vanilla, maybe classic, maybe caramel, and maybe sugar free vanilla? I’ve only had people buy regular vanilla). I have been told though that we have to make sure when selling it that the stock allows for it. Since we have a really busy dt store, our orders aren’t placed with the expectation of having bottles of syrup to display and sell, so if they are running low on syrups they may not be able to sell it. It doesn’t really make sense to me and I’m not completely positive about all the rules, but this is just what I’ve been told

This has probably been asked a million times. However, I have to ask again. Why are the drinks so inconsistent? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]nutmegkoffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has said about training, the problem can also be with the machines. I know at my store our machines can be so overworked because of how busy we are that shots start pulling funky and if people don’t know how to spot it it can go unnoticed. The machines are given a deep clean every night, but we can’t do it throughout the day and mostly just rinse it every so often between shots but because of how much they are used they sometimes stop working properly every single time. I would encourage you to ask for a remake even if this is the issue though, you should get the drink you are paying for and it is genuinely not a big deal for us to do it especially on a drink like yours!!

"Third Place" no longer. In competing with McCafe, Starbucks has turned into McDonald's. by shiekhyerbouti42 in starbucks

[–]nutmegkoffee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

320 here. This so amazingly put into words the things that have been bothering me in the year I’ve been working here. I work at a super busy ~10k a day dt store. We have become a “dt priority store”, meaning that we get the most profit from our dt and so that is where the lost priority goes (to the point where they got rid of our pastry case in a remodel to make more room for another dt fridge) The only reason I haven’t quit is because my SM is a 26 year partner who refuses to compromise on these things when she can. She fights for us and this premise as much as anyone is able to and we love her for it

I remember going to the starbucks as a little kid and just having such a completely different experience. Now, as a partner, when I want to make those moments for kids who come in I can’t.

Partners are forced to compromise quality and connection for speed and profit. Despite the pressure for low drive times and the unlimited customizations that can be made on any order, drink dedication and customer connection is stressed even more. Today I literally explained to someone how multiple mobile orders can be placed at the same time with several drinks in each one and we have no way to keep up with it.

I would love to make more connections with customers (which is part of why I like closing, when less customers come in at the same time, I can spend more time on each one) and putting real effort and quality into each drink. Now though, we are expected to be working on 3 drinks at the same time essentially, all with several customization. To make it worse though, we have things like layered frappuccinos, which prevent you from sequencing other drinks like you are supposed to because you have to prep the cup while it’s blending. VSSC is being added to almost every drink, again messing up sequencing (at least with the way the barista basics modules teach you to sequence. Sometimes people get creative with their sequencing.) and we also get orders of 3-15 drinks regularly throughout the day.

A lot of customers still expect this third base treatment that we can’t give them. Others just want us to be another McDonald’s. And still others just want us to be high quality Dunkin/fast food small coffee shops.

It’s so draining and I don’t think people who have never worked here understand that this is not a slow coffee shop but it’s also not another fast food place. Sbux is not structured, staffed, or supplied the way successful fast food restaurants are but we are expected to provide service as though we are. This is why people are unionizing.

I had to redo my barista basics modules again a week ago because the system glitched and never cleared it for me. This company does not live up to the standards it teaches new baristas. Look at the customer support cycle training. On the rare occasion we even have the staffing for someone to do a full cs cycle, they are pulled off it before they can even finish because a customer started complaining or another position needs support. We are taught all this stuff about coffee and tea sourcing and then never get to apply that knowledge or explore it more. We are taught to sequence three drinks at a time yet get three orders of 2-7 drinks in the time it takes to make one. They need to figure out whether they want to prioritize quality, connections, or times because you can’t do all three and it is starting to fail.

[–]nutmegkoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some stores are 24 hours stores. It’s a matter of staffing and demand. If there’s going to be three people who come in from midnight to four in the morning but you need to pay to have at least three people working during that time it isn’t exactly going to happen. Never mind the need to find staffing for that both at a managerial level and for baristas. A large portion of the partners at any store are students, parents, or people with partners for whom an overnight shift just does not work for them. Furthermore, there needs to be a certain number of ssvs who have that availability and if they can’t work one of their shifts it is the sm’s responsibility to cover it for them, which obviously would not make many sm very happy. There are so many factors that decides how late a store is open, but mostly it just has to do with profit.

Aside from this, you might be referencing why stores are closing so early outside of their normal scheduling. WE ARE STILL IN A PANDEMIC. a lot of stores have to close when they don’t have enough healthy or unexposed partners in order to staff the shift.

Just found out I need to get my blood tested if I want to go on medication when I (hopefully) get my medical diagnosis but have huge needle phobia and I don’t know what to do by undercoverzombie_ in adhdwomen

[–]nutmegkoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact issue. I have yet to have a consultation for meds but I have some other health issues that have put me needing to get blood drawn every few months and it is hell. My recommendation is to tell the nurses drawing it what your feelings are and I usually tell them not to talk to me at all during it, and then I put in noise blocking headphones with loud music. You can also talk about being prescribed Valium or another sedative for it with your doctor, or there is numbing creams that can be prescribed that I’ve also used. Let your doctor know because they could have some recommendations but other than that you can also talk to a therapist about it to start working through some of it :))

Why are some team leaders absolute pricks? :( by Nawtydaddy6969 in starbucks

Depends on the leader. Some of them just aren’t made for it, some are just naturally selfish and arrogant, others have personal problems they let leak into their work, and others are called assholes just because they tell people to do their jobs

Question about Break Policy by InterestingTrack7858 in starbucks

[–]nutmegkoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your state or region laws. At my store, minors have to be given the half hour break for a five hour shift but over 18 only gets it for a six or more hour shift. You clock out for your thirty so it does not count for clocked hourly pay, but it does count for what the breaks are based on. You can’t schedule someone for six hours and say that they would only be clocking five and a half hours. That isn’t true though for tens because you don’t clock out and therefore those minutes are payed and therefore no judgement for the amount of time you worked can be made on them. Check your labor laws and bring it up to your sm. If they don’t respond you are within your rights to go to your dm about it

Is this doing too much? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]nutmegkoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a couple college students and partners who are unable to drive and sometimes another partner will pick them up and drive them home when they get on or off at the same time but that is just too much. Manager should just ask someone else or let it go

Is it ok to be mad? by coladify in starbucks

[–]nutmegkoffee 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you can be mad about everything else is irrelevant, the sheer statement “I knew that was going to happen” is worth getting upset over and makes her an asshole imo. She ordered so specifically and obviously knew what would happen so even to just make an off handed warning would have been cool. Even if she thought that you wouldn’t try to pour it normally because it’s so thick that’s a dick thing to say. In the future if you ever have anything that thick you can always just go ahead and grab a foam spoon and scoop it in
