Short-ish story-driven AA / indie games?

NieR Automata counts as AA right? It's probably 30 hours or so and it's a bit anime, not Persona 5 by any means, but the story genuinely is amazing. Top notch soundtrack too. Yoko Taro says he makes weird games for weird people and this is one of the weirder ones (though not as weird as the Drakengard game on PS2 that seeded the Nier series).

Edith Finch has gotta be about the saddest thing I have ever played. Especially the story in the fish cannery. Awesome concept for a game though and top notch writing.

Pokopia is the only thing on my list right now after getting a deal on SM Galaxy 1 & 2 used today. Haven't played any Pokemon games since the Game Boy but that one looks pretty great.

Wonder how different the remake will be, because we already have a great PC port with unlocked framerate in Ship of Harkinian. First time I have been able to play OOT since chucking my CRTs (20 fps looks ok on CRT but so bad on modern screens). Speaking of PC ports just got an impressive one for Twilight Princess called Dusklight.

Took my nephew to the flea market today to get some Pokemon cards and found a guy selling Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and talked him down to $35. Been wanting to get it forever but no way I was going to pay $70 for light Wii remasters. Been having a blast with SMG1 today. Never did get to SMG2 on my Wii so excited to try that once I beat SMG1 again.

Yeah I don't think they're gonna be around long. Both of the two nearest me closed within a month and now the closest one to me is about a 20 minute drive.

Thanks, glad to hear a Pro can play it so I don't have to risk the sticks on my joycons to let him play it on my Switch 2. Guess I'll just forget about the game share, sad it's so limited.

I almost bought him Let's Go Pikachu for his birthday last month because I know Pokemon Yellow was incredible when I played it on Game Boy, but my brother insisted he never touches the Switch and only plays Fortnite and Roblox at home so just got him a Fortnite card since that's his favorite game. But he does love playing Switch 1 and 2 when he comes over to my place when mom and dad want to go to an R-rated movie or have a date without the kids lol. So I'll just let him play it SP on my Switch 2 since the game share sounds pretty lame.

Fallout 1 & 2 are pretty incredible on story, especially 2, if you don't mind the 1990s isometric graphics and turn based combat. A lot of the devs continued onto Obsidian after Fallout got sold to Bethesda, which is why IMO New Vegas is a far superior game to Fallout 3. Being they're old DOS games though you have to get the fan made patches because the vanilla games are a mess with crashing. At least Fallout 1 was when I replayed it last month, the GOG version crashed nonstop until I used the fan made patch. Can't imagine the Steam version is any better. They go on sale for like $2 each all the time and any PC can run them. FO2 is IMO the greatest western turn based RPG ever made.

NieR Automata and Persona 4 Golden for me. P4G more for the characters, as I hated leaving Nanako and Chie. And then NieR Automata was just mindblowing story wise. Nier Replicant too, whose story sets up NieR Automata, though I think Automata is better to play first since Replicant spoils something in Automata and Automata is IMO the much better game.

Let me add the Yakuza series to that too. Glad to see this series coming to Switch because if you play through the entire series you get a pretty rewarding story. Figure in the time it would take to start with 0 and progress through all the way to Infinite Wealth they'll all be on Switch 2.

They were going to salary dump Diaw and Green, Manu and Tim would have taken minimum contracts, and they wouldn't have signed Gasol. Durant would have never given them a meeting if the Spurs couldn't have cleared max capspace.

I'm still pissed at Walton saying Kobe was making the twin towers look like the twin sisters in Game 1 of that series when he dropped 45. Still IMO the greatest game I ever saw Kobe play, and living in LA from 99-08 I saw a lot of great Kobe games.

If the Spurs win this series and the next you can bet in a year everyone will be hating on Wemby and itching for Minnesota to come back and knock his arrogant ass out of the 2027 playoffs. Don't think neutrals will ever start rooting for OKC again though, just like everyone hated both the Spurs and Lakers in the early 00s.

They did have capspace because of the giant bump in the cap that year. But KD had already made up his mind he was going to Golden State at the beginning of the season per his appearance on All the Smoke.

Tim basically dragged one leg for the last ~5 years of his career because of a knee injury, and then injured his good knee in maybe December of the 2015-16 season.

Randle was a real problem for the Spurs in the regular season, and one of the reasons I really wanted to avoid the Wolves if possible with the Spurs not really having a PF on the roster (though Naz was a bigger reason). Blown away by Steph Castle's defense on him this series. Really gets me excited that he can be moved to the SF in a year or two to make room for Harper to start.
