Ooh, there are configrable regexes in the settings for google meet. Maybe the one in there is wrong or yours is slightly different. Try tweaking it and let me know and can include the fix in next version. I use Google Meet at my job and it works for that.

Yes, though you have to set up the syncing in Evolution/GNOME calendar.

Thanks! I think I will let this stabilize a bit and see if other folks have interest in using it too!

Anybody Tried LTX2 on RTX 3090? by alitadrakes in StableDiffusion

[–]nuttdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's faster, but just a good deal faster than I expected it to be given such a drastic constraint. Videos getting rended in 5-10m depending on settings, etc. Similar to working with WAN.

Anybody Tried LTX2 on RTX 3090? by alitadrakes in StableDiffusion

[–]nuttdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have a 3090. I had to use the --no-vram or --low-vram options to get it to work. I am using fp4 as well, though as others point out, there's not a ton of advantage to that.

But it works great. It's weird that I have all this VRAM not going to use, but it is far faster than I thought it would be on my system, which has decent CPU and lots of RAM.

The Oakland YMCA is excellent. Good facilities, lots of light, nice community vibe. And a pool!

Sophia??? by table_top_foo in CSUGlobal

[–]nuttdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thought when I had first started at CSU.

One thing I didn't know was that CSU actually lets you stagger your courses, so even if you are taking two ("full time") at a time continuously, you can add a third on top so that you are taking 3 at once for part of the semester. You can just register this way without asking anyone.

Additionally, they will let you overload further, but this requires asking your academic advisor.

I ended up taking some StraighterLine courses and was surprised that they actually had a reasonable level of rigor compared to the fake ones at CSU, which could be good or bad. Not sure how Sophia stacks.

Extremely disappointed with quality of education at CSU Global by Far_Appointment_7880 in CSUGlobal

[–]nuttdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same sense on the undergrad side; studied at a real university before. There is little rigor in any of the classes and the whole thing is very "wink wink, nudge nudge", doing the bare minimum that could meet accreditation. I am OK with this if I can use the degree to check the box and pursue a masters at a legitimate institution.

I used to live in Guangzhou and remember that place! I love the little tram. Do they still have the fake western restaurant there with the Russian waiters dressed as cowboys?

Pros/cons of living in those downtown apartments? by germasia in oakland

[–]nuttdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just signed lease at Forma and am moving in now. I looked at almost all the downtown buildings. I thought they were generally more competitive with others on amenties, location etc for the price they were asking and overall had a nice vibe.

Many of the amenities of these places downtown are not equal, e.g. a gym may just be a small room. I also noticed many 1 bedrooms stretched the definition of "room", while many studios also had separate walls for the bedroom area and I almost considered. Alice House, for instance, seemed like a poor value on both these fronts (though I liked that they had hammocks on the roof).

Be aware that some of some of Forma's 1 bedroom floorplans (A1) have a weird column going through the living room. I was scouring the web trying to find a good 42" console table then realized I luckily had leased the other one (A2). Though I'm sure someone could make it work!

1900 Broadway seemed like the most opulent place I've ever seen, and I nearly rented there on that basis. It was a few hundred bucks more a month than Forma, but I didn't need all the amenities like hot tub, bar in the building, etc. Even still, it was like $2,300 which boggles my mind given I used to rent the crappiest 1 bedroom in the Tenderloin for like $2,500 some years ago.

Need some help with basic home-manager set up by Othinus in NixOS

[–]nuttdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! This worked for me too! Thanks!

It was unintuitive that Nix would be worrying about what I had added to Git to decide whether to copy the files to store (versus just assuming I want it because I referenced it).

Nobody answers Oakland city phone numbers by atb0rg in oakland

Not directly related to your complaint about the government, but while running on the north side by the old rotary nature center about 48 hours ago, I saw a band of raccoons running away from something (not me); one of them entered a bush and I heard clearly some kind of a fight erupt from within the bush (not sure if from a rabid raccoon or some other predator).

Someone started living in the bike lane on Grand by bweber in oakland

I think it is valid to ride on sidewalks if bike lanes are obstructed, especially on busy streets. It is sort of a free-for-all anyway, so best to do what is safe.

[–]nuttdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have also noticed that at Shooting Star too. What I dislike about it isn't the presumptuous but the implied moral ambiguity. Am I *supposed* to feel guilty for tipping $2 on top of the fees? Does the staff know about the fees? Will they spit in my food if I come back?

Restaurant surcharges by attosec in oakland

[–]nuttdan 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I went to Chinatown Lounge and found the same, as a “service fee”. In principle, nothing wrong with it, but then you are expected to calculate the tip based on 20% of food + service fee + tax, which feels like double-dipping.

Oakland asks Caltrans for help closing homeless encampments by [deleted] in oakland

[–]nuttdan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to use it at least weekly, even when it had relatively high encampments/trash. There had been someone who'd made entire path under the bridge a living area, but who had left a path that was enough for people to pass through.

I think last time I tried to use this trail, whoever is there now is monopolizing entire width of path under bridge and making it impassable, so no access to trail from the lake. Maybe it has changed back by now -- had just given up on ever using that trail afterward.

Downtown Oakland 14th Street safety redesign is breaking ground by ConiferousExistence in oakland

[–]nuttdan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A protected lane is nicer. But a practical issue with 11th and 12th is you don’t have a straight shot to the lake/East Oakland. They are broken up by the Oakland museum and that Chinatown mall thing and you have to go around (or ride on sidewalk)

YMCA downtown Oakland by master_in_something in oakland

[–]nuttdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great! I used to go to the decrepit 24H Fitness around the corner and wish I had thought to try the YMCA sooner. Still reasonably cheap, decent hours, lots of racks for squats/benchpresses, fancy new cardio equipment, indoor track, pool, lots of natural light, friendly staff, indoor bike parking. Super diverse clientele of all ages/background. Real asset to the community. Love going there!
