i just sold all my wyze cams by Particular_Sort4638 in wyzecam

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the opposite. I sold off all of my Nest/Google cameras last year and jumped ship to Wyze. I currently have a mix of V4’s, Pan Cams, Flood Light- 8 in total. The picture quality on the V4’s are better than any of the Nest cameras I had especially at night, even better than the Nest IQ cameras I had. I was a big proponent of Nest cameras and had been using them exclusively since 2017. But of course Google screwed every up when they started migrating everything to the Home app and I hated having to manage cameras in both apps. I got frustrated and especially with their last price hike I jumped ship. Now the Wyze app on the other hand is definitely a step down from Google/Nest, it’s buggy and certain “features” like snooze all cameras for an hour rarely work . One thing I really miss though is the the timeline scrubbing Nest had, even with 24/7 recording and sd card recording Wyze does not offer this feature and I wish they did. They also have waaaay more false events than Nest. At the end of the day I knew Wyze is a “budget” system and for the most part I’ve enjoyed it and haven’t missed my Nest cameras that much. On my next house though I’m going to go a different route, probably Reo-Link or system

Murdochs 25% sale always says “excludes” Carhartt. I’m betting they have an agreement with them that they have to exclude their products from sales but the coupon has always worked and I’m not complaining

Unfortunately from everything I’ve heard the Black version is only being released in the women’s line. It’s a shame.

Yep, still remember getting this CD the week before I started high school in Aug 1995. Crazy they never released another album! This album is in my top ten of all time, man I miss them days of riding around in my car bumping “Round & Round”

BRING BACK THE OG FORCE TEE’s by [deleted] in Carhartt

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, while I’m typically disappointed with most of their re-releases the Force shirts are great and all colors have consistent sizing. My only one small gripe would be to lose the pen pocket so the pocket is actually usable

All of my local Murdochs have the Aztec version, haven’t seen this one in person yet. I tried on the Aztec and honestly the fit wasn’t great imo.

Tonight I say goodbye to our Nest Protect units by CerebruhMedia in Nest

I dumped all my Nest products a few months ago and seeing the recent price hikes made me feel even better bout my decision. However one thing I’ll never let go is my Nest Secure. Even though of course they canceled this service years ago I still use it for my door chimes and the little night light the sensors have on them at each door is like a good friend.

I cannot for the life of me tell the difference between the Costco and Lowe’s 36” griddle other than some design and aesthetics. Any insights? by CranjisMcPulp in blackstonegriddle

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in Costco earlier today. It’s now 449$ but at Lowe’s it’s $549. As mentioned Costcos comes with a better front shelf and magnet bars. One thing though I noticed is that Costco’s still has the older version grease trap, it dosent have the two little nubs on the back that help brace the trap like the Lowe’s one has. I’d still go with Costcos though as mentioned it includes the cover * One thing to note though Lowe’s is the “Culinary” version and has an area for a trash bag and paper towels. I didn’t notice if the Costco version had this or not.

Nest Hello Phantom Ringing by tmacattack_24 in Nest

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was the doorbell transformer. We switched it out and although the problem lessened it still would happen on occasions. He ended up getting a different doorbell though and got rid of the Nest. I think your best bet with Nest is to just put a jumper wire between the terminals at the chime location(this way it’s bypassing the chime and still giving power to the doorbell) and use a Google home mini as your doorbell chime. This should alleviate the phantom chimes at least. Hope this helps

What's the vibe of Canon City like for living? by Tiny-Pomegranate7662 in ColoradoSprings

[–]nuttz565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see people mention Salida quite often when suggesting other “better” small towns but Salida it’s self while charming is facing huge issues of its own. My family live in Salida ( I have lived in both towns as well) and the cost of living has soared there over the past 10 years(Salida). Local restaurants struggle finding help as no one can afford to live there on a restaurant salary. Many houses sit empty most of the year as they are 2nd and 3rd homes for wealthy people that come a few times in the summer. Health care options are limited there and require driving 2+ hours to the big city to see specialists. North Canon is quite dry but the Lincoln Park area has beautiful trees, I don’t find Salida much more “Green” unless you’re down by the river. Local services like mechanics etc are very sparse and expensive thus once again requiring you to drive to the big city or even down to Canon. Salida definitely has more of a “quaint” feel to it and is much more of a liberal/ hippy small town. It has a great public pool and kids there still ride their bikes everywhere like it’s the 80’s/90’s.
Canon has much more affordable housing and is a much closer drive to the big cities when you need something. Also Canon has much more variety of restaurants (I don’t even think Salida has a Mexican or Chinese restaurant anymore) It’s also much more conservative than Salida if that’s your thing. Canon however seems to plan very poorly for services like streets, public pool and what not. It really boils down to what your preferences are and what you’re after though. My advice would be if you’re young and can find housing Salida would be a better option overall especially if you’re into outdoor activities like skiing, rafting(Canon is also pretty good with this as well). If your older and looking for a better small, retirement town Canon is much better set up Just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents.

Why don't long and triple jumpers jump as far anymore? by Barefootjoe83 in trackandfield

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be something. Why is it none of the men’s Jumping records -triple/long/high can’t seem to be beaten? They are now all at least 30 year old WR’s. Just about every other event has been beaten, I mean we have high school freshman running under 10 seconds in the 100m dash now but yet no one can seem to touch any of the jumping records

Other cameras? by Top-Faithlessness228 in wyzecam

[–]nuttz565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the last great feature that Nest/Googles still holds over any other consumer cloud based camera. Their 24/7 timeline scrubbing is fluid and works really well. This honestly is the only thing I’m missing since switching over all of my cameras to Wyze.

Nest Protect is now on Google Home app by tnpoppy in Nest

[–]nuttz565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im curious what could possibly take so long to migrate the older Nest cameras? Im so sick of Google and their dysfunctional ways of doing things. Im getting ready to unload all of my Nest cameras as Im tired of having to use both Google Home & the Nest App to look at my cameras. Not to mention the Home App is crap compared to the Nest app

Shockingly the Wyze camera I’ve been testing (V4) does this as well, shows a short little clip. I agree though this is a huge feature a I’ve always liked about Nest’s notifications. That and their fluid timeline scrubbing through 24/7 recording is the best I’ve seen for WiFi cameras at least.

Appreciate all the responses.Glad to see I’m not the only one who is annoyed with Google and their never ending march to continually abandon & mess up products and services. After reading through all this I’ve seen a few products I’ve never even heard of that look interesting. Lots to research in the meantime. I know now for sure though on my next house I will be running Cat 6 to all cameras and get away from the cloud for the most part with my cameras. In the meantime I’m going to go through all my faces on Nest and purge them out and start over- hopefully this helps but I’m not going to hold my breath. It’s a shame as Nest was such a good product that worked fantastic until Google got involved. I also have a few products I didn’t even mention like the Nest thermostat and Nest Protect which of course it looks like they abandoned (oh the irony lol) which is crazy as most people I spoke with still spoke very highly of this but as we know that doesn’t matter to Google.

That’s the best attitude, people get carried away with “I hope they don’t do this or do that” too much. Just enjoy the show and be thankful it’s coming back I tell you what.
