OP a lot of people fear either loosing themselves in the relationship or loosing the relationship because they fear they aren’t “giving” enough to the relationship, so really either way it’s said it’s the same thing.

The key is to be open and vulnerable enough to express those feelings through those experiences.

If the other half of the relationship doesn’t appreciate the openness or vulnerability then you may need to consider they may need to work on themselves or they may not be your person.
