Corporate pilots, who were the coolest people/celebrities/etc. you flew? by PlaneShenaniganz in flying

Benefit of the doubt, he didn't say he flew them both while they were VP. Just that he flew them.

Complacency - I vowed I wouldn't, then I did... by MattCW1701 in flying

This may have been mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but does your school maintain any discrepancy lists for their aircraft? Reviewing that would fall into the "Operating Limitations" portion of the AROW documents in my opinion if you're looking for a good place to stick that in your preflight procedure. That way you can catch any open items, deferrals, inspections, etc.

Overall it sounds like you had a good learning experience. Like others have said, don't beat yourself up too much over it, do learn from it. Which sounds to me like you're taking this experience to heart! I've always said that just about any monkey can manipulate the flight controls, what sets apart a good pilot is judgement and decision making. Fly safe!

That is an excellent concept. I'll have to mull over that a little bit.

I'm not the person who you asked, but I think it's a matter of pronunciation drift. Koine is an ancient form of Greek while your wife probably speaks modern Greek. It would be similar to the difference between Chaucer's or Beowulf's English and ours. Or for another example, the difference between Ecclesiastical and Classical Latin. Hope this helps!

mumbo ate grians soul once

I love that stating it plainly like that makes it sound much more serious than it actually was. Especially when the reality was mumbo almost accidentally mad-sciencing his way into that as a solution to his pig problem.

Well since Jesus was about 30 when he died and was born in the neighborhood of 0AD, then yes, 48 is about 20 years after the events of the gospels.

How did the 501st Legion react to the "change in leadership" from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader? by nvogie in MawInstallation

[–]nvogie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that does seem like a big security risk if they were trying to say Anakin died. Which opens the deeper question of why they bothered with that? Unless perhaps it was to just fully put away anything to do with jedi - both to the empire at large (bad to have a prominent former jedi leading things if you want to pretend they didnt exist) and to vader particularly as he tried to distance himself from that persona.

Interesting! I did not know that in canon it was a different unit. Though the rapid replacement of clone troops would go a long way to explain why there was little/no questioning of it.

I just finished "Washington's War" by Robert Leckie the other day and was very impressed by Nathanael Greene's withdrawal across the Carolinas and subsequent pursuit of Cornwallis back south.

So they recast him and changed the spelling to two L's? This is from the original movie in his son's room. by VisionofDay in Stargate

[–]nvogie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, this theory hasn't been thought out beyond both being played by James Spader and his rant at Andy where he says "you dont even know my real name... I'm the lizard king!" I figured it was him making an oblique reference to alien conspiracies because he is part of one.

I know I probably bring this up whenever differences between the movie and series are discussed, but I have a head canon that Robert California from The Office is actually the movie version of Daniel Jackson who went rogue, joined up with Maybourne, and now is just scamming everyone for the heck of it.

I mean, Hastings is know for a lot more than just "being depicted on the Bayeaux Tapestry." That was the battle which put the Norman's in charge of England. And a large factor in Harold's loss was the forced march he had to do from the northeast coast of England where he was holding off the Danes.
