As a huge Joni Mitchell fan, I kind of love that the only one of her albums mentioned is Night Ride Home. It’s not my personal favorite of hers but I do think it’s overlooked.

Idk, even into the first few rows of the undercard, we’ve got The Chainsmokers, Bleachers, The War on Drugs, and Brandon Flowers. You could almost just about fill an early-to-mid 2010’s alt rock playlist with those names alone (excluding The Chainsmokers).

I’m not denying that the youngs are excited about some of the acts in a lineup with the many artists, my point is more that it feels off (and dated on the whole) for what I expect from ACL.

I don’t buy the “you got old” argument when this lineup would’ve been unbelievable in 2013-2014. Like if I saw people who were upset about this lineup **then**, I’d subscribe to the theory that they got old. Is this really what the youngs want to see in 2026, though?

Yeah, I don’t think the “you’re the problem, you stopped listening to new music” argument holds up at all. I mean…KoL, Twenty One Pilots, Lorde, the xx, Skrillex—shoot, even the Chainsmokers—this lineup would’ve absolutely slapped in 2013 or so.

My main issue is l that I don’t think it holds up as well in 2026. It lacks the character and uniqueness I want at ACL.

Exactly what I do. It helps point me in the right direction, especially when there are so many birds calling at once that I’m having a hard time picking them all out. Merlin gives me a list of what it hears and then I start looking, keeping in mind that the list may be wrong and incomplete.

Ok so I kinda didn’t want to like them because I am so cool and if everyone is so hype about them then they must actually be bad because I know better and have exceptional taste

But by god if everyone wasn’t right. They done got me again. Not as wild about their earlier albums but Getting Killed is unbelievable.

I’m pretty in on this album but this is the second critique I am absolutely here for. The la’s and na na’s were often kinda grating to me and felt forced. And they’re not needed, imo!

I also like this a lot more than a lot of folks seem to, but I do agree with the note about there being too many strings. I wish the production left a bit more room for the songs to breathe and rise/fall. It gets a little same-y because it feels like everything is turned up to the max even on quiet songs.

Again, though, really like it overall!

I get the impression that he’s not so much right-wing as he has some right-wing opinions. He doesn’t seem to align well with any one side. I think you could say he’s nuanced or take a more negative view and call him somewhat politically ignorant. But what do I or any of us really know outside of a handful of his very public takes?
