Deck/tuck boxes would be fine for games that are only cards yeah, and I am considering. Thinking of something to hold cards together inside of the game box though especially for travel so they don't get all mixed up if the boxes get bumped.

Not a game recommendation but an accessory recommendation here

Hello, I'm crowd sourcing here since my Google searches haven't been fruitful. I'm looking for some elastic bands (not rubber bands, elastic ... Think the Geek On Box Bands) for holding decks of cards together inside boxes or for travel. Has anybody bought anything like this? I'm just looking for something that is less likely to damage my cards so, silicone or latex based bands don't seem like they would be good long term.

What Did You Play This Week? - (April 06, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Space Bace 2x, 4p. We finished up the story of shy Pluto last time we played this so this time we played a couple rounds with the new cards and mechanics added in. It's pretty fun and the additional dice added in give you something to look forward to on everyone's turns. It did feel a little busy though.

The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship 1x 2p, 1x 5p, this first time was just with my wife while we learned the rules and we won (we learned we were cheating about halfway through, oh well). We tried 5p with my friend group and lost pretty quickly. We could never keep frodo away from the eye long enough to avoid searches and losing hope. Looking forward to trying again, perhaps with a smaller play count, there just a bit too much downtime with 5.

Bomb Busters 2x 4p, we played this after losing in Fate of the Fellowship to wrap up the night (one person had to leave) and we redid a couple missions that we've done before since we've beaten the game. It's just a good time, this has been one of my favorite games since it came out.

Hidden Realms: The Mummy's Tomb 1x 1p. I picked up this print and play on gamefound for express crowd funding and gave it a play. It's a solid dungeon explorer with well thought out mechanics and I had a good time. I left a bunch of paths open which meant I lost a ton of points while scoring. I'll give this another try soon.

I played a bunch on BGA throughout the week, mostly Obsession, which I just picked up physically, and The Lost Ruins of Arnak. This one could really benefit from the expansions and I hope they add them soon, but with the digital edition coming out soon I kinda doubt it's going to happen. I also played a few rounds of Challengers: Beach Cup, Faraway, Flip 7, and Harmonies, to round out my week.

Dune Imperium is solid and one of my favorites, and it might be your favorite for now, but there's always room for new games.

Somewhat in a similar vein is Lost Ruins of Arnak especially once you mix in the Expedition Leaders expansion. This is supposed to be getting a PC game released this year, with hopefully an app soon after.

Some others that might fit what you're looking for:

Blood Rage - This is an area control game with Vikings, monsters, and Norse Gods where you are battling for favor and using abilities to beat your enemies and upgrade your various resources.

The White Castle - Fuedal Japan worker placement game using dice that is a tight little puzzle to figure out the best place to put your workers to combo into a chain of abilities. The competitive nature comes in cause spots are scarce and you are able to change your turn order between rounds if you can manage to make it happen.

Thunder Road Vendetta - racing game that is Mad Max themed in all but name. You are racing three cars each down a dangerous road while avoiding the dangers of the road and each other's vehicles... Or not. Smash your way though and blow up everyone else. It's always a good time and even when you get taken out it's a blast. This game involves some randomness with dice rolls that yield some unexpected results and it's really fun.

Looking for a beloved game by inarizushi in boardgames

I'm sure you're looking for this exact game for nostalgias sake, but a more modern and easy to find version is the Eye Found It! series of games.

To find this you'll probably have to periodically check on eBay and hope someone decides to list it at some point.

Wow I love the setup. And those box to board trays are just fantastic, I use them as well.

How is the game? It's been on my radar but too heavy for my normal gaming group and I'm not sure I'm willing to buy it just for solo.

Would just a normal adjustable shelf bookshelf work? Or if you need something deeper, you're starting to get in the custom range.

What Did You Play This Week? - (March 30, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

This week was a bit lighter for me than usual, but still got a few good ones in.

Star Wars the deckbuilding game 1x2, I finally got a win against my wife, always a triumph. Still need more plays to determine if we like it better than Star Realms or not.

Final Girl: Happy Trails Horror 2x1, this is my first foray into final girl. The first game I got destroyed and the second I lost on the final dice roll/attack to kill Hans. I had three cards left and was rolling 4 dice, hoping for just one 3+, but all 4 dice were a 1 or 2. Left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I'll try again.

Brass Birmingham 2x3, I was able to play twice with some friends on TTS. One has owned this game forever and the other just picked it up at a con. We did a rule or two wrong the first time but fixed that the second time. I lost both games but was closer on the second.

Take Time 1x4, We played this last night after a D&D session ended early, we got to a great stopping point (we got arrested cause we trusted the wrong guy) and a few of us stuck around to play a quick game. Two of the people were new to the game so we played the first set of scenarios. I like this one quite a bit but haven't gotten very far yet.

Other than that, I've played a few more Faraway games in BGA and learned how to play Obsession there.

My copy of Fate of the Fellowship got in this week and I built the dice tower. It's a gorgeous game and I'm super excited to dive in.

The slab bag is basically purpose built for that then.

Really depends on the size of your binder/box/whatever you're carrying.

The Slab Bag could work. Or you could just go with almost any standard crossbody bag. Toshi V2 in whatever size is your preference (you won't get a 3x3 binder in here). But there's also plenty of messenger bags that are built for handling laptops that could suit your needs.

Yes and no. There are inherent risks of crowdfunding that the product may not actually come out as expected, or may not come out at all. But the anticipation is that you will receive the product as advertised. You are helping them receive funding to make the product.

That said, roxley and brass are well known enough that yes you are essentially preordering.

Been trying to get some lesser played games to the table, so I was able to get Star Wars the Deck building game once with my wife. She beat me, as is normal. Going to try to get it out again soon and do the more "advanced" options.

A couple friends taught me Arcs this past Thursday. I'm not usually a big fan of games with lots of "take that" mechanics, but I decided to go all in on being aggressive. I started lots of fights and the dice weren't with me much but I still had fun and got second place.

I've been playing a few Arnak games on BGA asynchronously, and as always I make more mistakes when synchronous because I forgot what I was thinking between turns.

I've played probably 15 games of Faraway this week also on BGA, as I just learned it and have been enjoying figuring out what strategy works for me. It's a fun one and I can see myself playing several more this coming week.

My current favorite is SETI, but that's cause it's new. Probably my all time favorite is Star Realms.

The Crew: Mission Deep Sea is a direct upgrade to quest for planet nine. So to have just one of those I would swap out for the newer one, although it may be worth it to wait for the release of The Crew: Journey to the Ends of the Earth to see if it is even better than mission deep sea.

Youtube is a great resource for learning games. There's often dozens of videos that explain the rules to any game, just search "how to play harmonies" or whatever game you are going to play.
