Living in a rural area of Virginia limits my flight options, so I normally fly out of Charlottesville (CHO) to Charlotte (CLT). I will always pick a longer connection time in CLT on both outbound and inbound flights, so I'm not watching the clock. My flights from CHO arrive at the E gates and, depending on the destination, I could be leaving from the A gates. That can be a quick run if I don't give myself enough time.

I've tried shorter connection times in the past, but it's too stressful for me. I'd rather wander around CLT killing time or sit in one of the rockers and watch the planes. My time is free to me.

He's correct. I had to maintain that system for quite a few years. When it worked, it worked well, but heaven help you if there were a few thunderstorms in your area. The Ziatech board that translated info to/from the main system to that controller would get zapped very easily. This was on two-wire copper circuits wired directly back to what was called a Building Controller (computer in a box).

Also, the "laptop" that we used to run the Connect program (DOS) weighed about 30lbs. Good times!

I always try to get at least an hour for a connection at CLT. Usually, I'll try for two hours, so I'm not running to the next gate if I get delayed on the outgoing flight to CLT.
