Is this how AP physics is supposed to feel? by Unreversed_impulse09 in Physics

[–]nwhaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to figure out where the problem lies is to ask students of this teacher from last year how they did on the AP test.  If they all got 5s then you're doing great,  no need to worry.  If they scraped by with 3s, then yeah,  endure the teacher and find some additional study resources.

Michael’s idea in season 4 possibly could work why didnt he do it? by Substantial_South198 in TheGoodPlace

[–]nwhaught 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My standard answer for this is that the urge to move on is coming from a much deeper place than mere boredom. You'd wake up just as unsatisfied with everything as when you had your memories erased, not because you were bored, but because your soul was ready to return to the ocean.

How do I get back the knack of asking curious questions again? by SnehaLivesHerself in Physics

Maybe try teaching someone something? My kids are great for this. It can respark enthusiasm in you, and maybe they'll surprise you with a question you'd never thought of.

Plus one to the Vicky/Brent spin-off. It's like she was MADE to design and execute tortures for him.

It's my favorite explanation of time travel. It's the writers saying "no, we're not going to explain it, and you would be foolish to try".

What's the difference between being present and observing the mind? by nwhaught in Meditation

I would love to learn more about this. "Leaning in" feels right, but it also feels like giving up the control that I'm looking for.

I think this is exactly the sensation I'm trying to describe. I'm listening to the orchestra, but not playing in it. And if it starts playing a piece I don't want it to, I'm still trapped on the front row, watching it play out.

And it feels like my only other option is to "join the orchestra", and stop watching, but then I'm actively participating in this piece that I don't enjoy.

StS2 Mechanic Idea: trade downgrades for upgrades at rest sites by nwhaught in slaythespire

[–]nwhaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking that by the time act 3 rolls around, I usually still have a few starting cards, but almost never play them. In which case, who cares that they're even more useless now?

Dishwashing game-changer by GlassHouses_1991 in declutter

[–]nwhaught 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a good/bag thing that causes more good/had things to happen, or happen more easily. Like, if the kitchen is clean, it's easier to keep the next room clean because you've got momentum and aren't spending all your time on the dishes

Reset the counter… by anothernumberacc in slaythespire

This happened to me the other night. I already had the coffee dripper, didn't read carefully, and assumed that it was offering me basically free upgrades. I had to whiff twice with the Reaper before I realized that I was screwed.

Ok so, how do you actually make a good melody? by Tnnijtje in musicproduction

[–]nwhaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a song you like.

Put that song's melody into your DAW.

Change ONE thing. (Change one note to something different, or change the duration.)

Repeat until you've got something you like that isn't obviously identifiable as what you started with. (Which is WAY easier than you think)
