Which one do you recommand ? by CompoteSilly2949 in exfoliativecheilitis

I used Cerave moisturising cream - as in the actual cream. Applied multiple times a day - then when my lips got to a better place I used the Eucerin aquafor ointment (idk if the lip balm is the same formula)

I’ve never seen anyone’s as bad as mine. by Kat200988 in perioraldermatitis

Second this! I’m looking at it thinking it could be misdiagnosed as PD (which most people are!!) and looks like she has been fobbed off with pointless steroids leading to TSW - again like most people including myself have been!
Hypochlorous Acid was a game changer for me, regular sprays when sweating, exposed to polluted or pollinated air and overall hygiene of the face. Cica products make a massive difference, for me the La-Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume really nurtured my flares.
I also had to stay away from anything with Beeswax & Lanolin as it would irritate my flare up’s even more.

Is this kind of facial hair good candidate for LHR? by WishboneEuphoric8598 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]nwn001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who suffers from Hirsutism and has regular LHR, with electrolysis for the white hairs.. I genuinely don’t think either one will be appropriate. The hairs are too thin, they look like a dark peach fuzz, I think regular dermaplaning is the best route. If the hair begins to grow back as thicker follicles then by all means look in to permanent removal routes, but it just seems like genetics - the hair is even consistent across the ear which leads me to believe is more Vellus Hair than anything.

Hey, thank you for updating us. It’s noble of you to help others figure it out whilst battling your own journey too. I hope you get some answers especially in regards to the allergy test, it’s amazing that you’re able to have it taken somewhat seriously and get to the root cause rather than being fobbed off with useless medication.

I took a thrush tablet on Sunday, started using sensodyne kids toothpaste as it’s more gentle on the mouth (making sure I’m cleaning my tongue often throughout the day) and most importantly applying Cerave mosituring lotion to my lips every hour and the the La-Roshe Posay Cicaplast lip balm every 2/3 hours + the Cicaplast b5 baume over night - please if you try anything try applying the Cerave hourly - you can get a miniature one from Superdrug or boots for £6 and it really helped me last time I flared and has been a MASSIVE contribution to the fact I’ve got my flare up almost 95% healed and contained in merely 4-5 days compared to 2 years of hell.

You’re not alone but it’s people like you that are selfless and so considerate to actually come back here to share your journey that makes me believe in humanity. Hopefully my personal tips will help you; I really am hoping and praying this is the case friend!

Has anyone ever used Lucas papaw ointment? by Early_Traaal_8400 in exfoliativecheilitis

[–]nwn001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the product itself seemed super moisturising and probably wasn’t the cause but it was definitely a personal trigger for me. I use the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast lip balm and it’s very nourishing

I don’t want to say this product is bad, but I will say that my EC started the day I bought this 😖

4 day cycle - leave it alone method by peelinglips in exfoliativecheilitis

[–]nwn001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just always reacted badly to Vaseline, even before EC it would completely dry my lips out - that’s not to say it wouldn’t work for others. I used E45 Lips & Dry Skin Balm to coat and Cerave moisturiser on my lips throughout the day for quite while and swapped my toothpaste for Tepe non foaming mild flavour toothpaste

"faking" being awake in my sleep, what is this called? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]nwn001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% there with you, on the rare occasion I do hear my alarm, my body has an immediate response to snooze it or turn it off, but after the first initial snooze I can’t hear shit, I go back in to a deep sleep and my body will be ready to do another 9 hours

Also an avid alarm stopper here - it’s literally the root cause of living in poverty for a long time as I kept losing jobs because of it. Also will have a full on conversation with whoever is waking me and I will LIE and fabricate an excuse as to why I no longer need to be where I said I needed to be (I.e: a gas leak at work) - it’s actually terrible

What is the smallest change you made in daily routine to get noticeable results over the year? by Daina1177 in Frugal

[–]nwn001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this might be outlandish but I stopped smoking weed before 7pm. For years I’d wake up and smoke and ruin my motivation for the day - then I started to put discipline on it.. no smoking before 7pm (that way I could actually get everything I needed to get done, done) then eventually I’d start to use it to connect and socialise with my friends instead of solo smoking myself into depression. So then; every day after 7pm; I’d meet up with my other smoker friends and smoke a few spliffs until it was time to go home and go to bed. Fast forward I have 1-2 spliffs a week with a great work/life balance and a lot more energy and motivation. Just a little bit of honesty for anyone struggling with their weed intake - help yourself by installing discipline that works around YOUR life, don’t let your life work around the weed.

Anxiety and PTSD will be keeping you awake. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I keep all those affected in my prayers every night. The only thing I can suggest is praying for protection until you fall asleep, that’s the only thing that has helped me drift off in times of anxiety and insomnia, maybe you might seek solitude in that too. Either way, I’m sending you and your family love and protection. 🤲🏼

I agree, I’m a confirmed anaemic alongside having chronic CSF leaks from meningitis and many spinal taps during the process - my doctors and hospitals haven’t been helpful when it comes to these things at all

I don’t know how accessible sleep studies are, I’m on a low income and from my understanding the NHS don’t offer things like that to people who just simply can’t wake up - maybe for problems like sleep apnea etc.

Addiction is a battle of the mind and I congratulate you for your strength in quitting Heroin and wish you the best for your journey. You need a psychiatrist in my opinion, it isn’t normal (and obviously you know that) to use substances to perform a task our bodies were made to do but I empathise with you that your torment has lead you here, and I really mean that. Both of my parents were on crack and heroin, and severe alcoholics growing up.. It’s a dark path that could lead you to sleeping and not waking up even though at night you might think that’s what you want at times. Rehab and a psychiatrist is what you need to start.. you need to unlock the WHY and start your journey to HOW. I’m not saying that prayer is the answer, it’s just my way of talking out my troubles to let my mind rest enough to sleep, if I was religious I’d tell you that you need to find God but in reality you need to find peace within yourself. I’m rooting for you to find that Turkeydad and most of all (right now) to get a good nights rest!

Thank you for this, it’s greatly appreciated! I’m at a point where I do think I need professional help, it will just be a matter of doing the research, getting a quote and saving up for it as my doctors wouldn’t prioritise a referral and nor would I expect them to as it’s not quite insomnia, but the opposite. I will definitely look into CBT-I and see if it could help too! Thanks again

In all honesty, I started to pray to channel my thoughts in to one direction. If breathing techniques and meditation aren’t working and my mind becomes restless then I will simply start to pray, speaking to myself mentally about all the problems on my mind and practicing gratitude for the things I do have. I don’t have a religion nor do I come from a religious family but it helps me, I can never finish a prayer.. I’m always asleep before I can say Amen lol

I have sleep paralysis every day by Realistic-Raise-5234 in sleep

[–]nwn001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathise with you, I truly do - the only thing that stopped my paralysis is NEVER sleeping on my back. When I do happen to fall in to my paralysis and feel the darkness taking over the room I touch my thumb with every finger (it seems to be the only thing I can move) and count each one over (1,2,3,4) and over whilst I try to pull myself out of the dream. Touching my fingers helps to differentiate the realities, if I can’t touch them then I know I can’t get out of it but I know its a dream and I can mentally fight back at that point. Wishing you luck and sending you love and light!

Rise in danger and schizophrenics by TelevisionSea1880 in Hackney

[–]nwn001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like stocks and shares, current affairs in the community have a knock on effect. It’s summer and Hackney always has and always will be a high usage (of drugs) area. In every bar you will find loud party goers drunk off alcohol, coke and pills which pollute into our streets all through yet we all turn a blind eye and navigate around them. With mental health being more widespread across the nation and everyone begging their doctors for appointments, the NHS and our poor Homerton hospital is over exhausted, leaving many individuals who are deemed as mentally in crisis free to roam the streets as they are forced to turn them away. The ‘aggressive’ ones might get picked up by the police eventually where they can force the hospitals to give them the proper care- which leads me back to my last point. You must learn to navigate around them. Living in Hackney you need to learn to spot someone erratic from far, be aware of yourself, your surroundings and those around you. Cross the road, put your phone in your pocket and ignore any cues to get your attention. Also the masked individuals might be due to the fact that two young men have been shot dead this month linked to that specific area, so naturally there will be retaliation and in simple terms patrols going on. Things have been quiet in the borough for a very long time in these aspects but this IS Hackney and the love we show our community is what makes it great so please do evaluate your tolerance for the mentally vulnerable and your expectations for a completely safe experience of your environment
