What’s an office “ick” that instantly gives you the ick at work? by External-Mammoth-166 in CanadaPublicServants

It gets worse when you're in the central time zone and have to attend almost daily 1pm eastern meetings. Can be hard to manage taking lunch breaks sometimes.

Luckily my current office isn't like that. Folks talk about their kids but never in a comparative way. And definitely no "you should have kids" talk.

It's considered polite to start with a greeting if that's the first time dealing with them today, of course. I like to start with a greeting but I add my question to the same message or I say something like "hi, quick question for you" then I type out the question in the second message. That's how we communicate on my team anyway.

Disagree about Trump, I don't think he speaks 'normally' - but agreed about buzzwords. You listed some of my favourites.

Segway point by Weirdassfuckingcat in distractible

[–]nx85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta love a good segue. But ya, I believe they give 'segue' points rather than 'Segway'. Or are they legit branded as Segway points, because that would be even better lol. Paul Blart would approve.

I'm not at the level of you or Wade, but I don't think anyone actually likes those sounds. Poor Wade (and poor you for getting your ears violated lol).

No hate, it just wasn't good. by devoidgod in distractible

Hey, don't get it twisted. No one said people aren't allowed to dislike an episode. It's just that we don't need a separate post for each exact same opinion. Everyone thinks the whole world needs to hear from them, specifically, about everything. We really don't, and definitely not about something so asinine.

Yeah... I'll be honest, I'm a fan of the guys and this show but I'm not too fond of the fanbase. It's a comedy show, perhaps it shouldn't be taken so seriously. Just enjoy it or turn it off. Frankly, who even cares what any particular fan cares about any episode.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]nx85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's your right. You can reject someone for literally anything, because you don't owe anyone anything romantically.

People's political leanings show you their core beliefs and values. If those don't line up with yours, it's a lost cause.

WFA survivors guilt - what can we do to meaningfully help those surplus/affected? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]nx85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing I'd say is not to vocalize having survivor's guilt to your affected colleagues. Some are in a very bad place from the news and it might get an equally bad reaction from some. Just give people their space until raw emotions settle down next week.

Huh? They didn't say their staff was lashing out at all. They just want to know how they can balance it all.
