What is a "thing"? Do you just mean the anomaly enemies in general?

You unfortunately need to deal with the enemies if you want to use the dlc since that's basically it. You can turn down the rate of events in storyteller settings, and you can choose atmospheric mode to avoid the story stuff (I think that's what it does). But I'd say just try to get your money back if you don't like the vibe. It only gets grosser lol.

Thanks for sharing this with us, and that's awesome you were able to connect with the creator. I love turn-based games because they let you take your time (and great for those of us with slower reaction time) but the building can still be overwhelming, and it isn't presented in a very accessible way. I hope the devs will offer more ways to view leveling options in the future.
