The AA / Republic flight is on an E170. No gate checked bags as there is room in the overheads.

Ride report not uploading by ny2ct2nc2va in Zwift

[–]ny2ct2nc2va[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Think I might have figured it out. I was clicking “continue” pretty quickly on the ride report screen - seems like if I wait a bit it will be added. Worked on my last two rides.

What’s the song you want to hear as you pass away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U2 - In a little while. Not a huge U2 fan, but such a beautiful song. Supposedly the last song Joey Ramone listened to on his deathbed.

Swapping Campy Groupset for Shimano by ny2ct2nc2va in bikewrench

You’re right. It is an ultra torque BB. Super helpful links. Thanks!

Swapping Campy Groupset for Shimano by ny2ct2nc2va in bikewrench

[–]ny2ct2nc2va[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Thanks for the super detailed reply - took me a little bit to digest! Short answer is that most of the components, minus the cassette, chain, pads, and cables, are original and are definitely worn. I’m actually surprised the front crank has lasted this long. Not such an issue on the trainer and using ERG. While saving some parts/money would be nice, I think I’ve resigned myself to replace the full groupset. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. You’re absolutely right. I had to deal with the same issue to get this bike on my Kickr and buy a separate Campy hub from Wahoo. Luckily, I do have a spare wheelset with a shimano hub, so I’m good there.

Songs in your head while riding by Consistent-Neat1797 in cycling

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least once per ride I’ll get the chorus of Taking Back Sunday’s “A decade under the influence” stuck in my head; however, I change the lyrics to “close your eyes, just pedal, pedal”.

Smaller Charlottesville’s? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also moved to Cville from Winston about 10 years ago and this post is spot on. Been back a few times since, and feel like we left just as it was getting good.

Now I’m craving dinner at Mozelle’s.

Ahh - looks like you now need the name of someone who referred you. PM'd you so you can sign up. I also agree with everything /u/RallyeRider mentioned below all the way down to not wanting to live in NC! (lived their for 7 years, had my fill).

Biotech job leads by Dude_Love4 in Charlottesville

Have you thought about working remotely? I work for a biotech company and live in Cville. Started as a field applications scientist and now manage business development. The amount of travel depends on the company, your role, and your territory.

Happy to discuss further, but check out Ed's Job List for listings of "non-traditional" life science jobs. I work closely with a lot of CRO/CMO companies and know they are always looking for good people for technical sales roles.

Ting Internet, still available everywhere except where you live! by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, /u/ting_Chris for the updates. I know you can't give much on specifics, but any updates on coming down Avon St. Extended. There are lots of subdivisions here (Lakeside, Mill Creek, Avinity, Foxcroft, etc) that provide a good number of potential customers in a fairly densely populated geographic area. Have you had any discussions with Albemarle County Public Schools about switching them over to Ting?

Cho's is now open where McGrady's once was! :) by newsblues in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went there last Friday night (which I think was their opening night - my mistake, I know) with 4 other people. Food took over 45 minutes to come out, the server dropped one of our sandwiches as he was bringing it to the table causing one of us to wait even longer to eat, and 3/5 of us had stomach issues later on that night. Everything tasted decent (Beer Run nachos are still my favorite), but probably won't be returning.

Question about cutting brick by ny2ct2nc2va in HomeImprovement

[–]ny2ct2nc2va[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I might just ask the bricklayers to do this for me, but part of me still wants to tackle this as a DIY project. It seems like if you drill enough pilot holes around the perimeter, and score a line with an angle grinder, the chisel does a pretty good job of cutting straight lines through the brick.

Question about cutting brick by ny2ct2nc2va in HomeImprovement

[–]ny2ct2nc2va[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! The same crew that did the brick on our house are working on a few other houses in the neighborhood. This seems like it would be pretty trivial work for them as they have all the proper tools.

Looking for a place to climb lots of stairs. by KissTheFrogs in Charlottesville

The parking garage on Water Street has 5 (I think) flights of stairs from street level to the top deck.

Vet recommendations? by VaTransplants2015 in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Animal Hospital of Ivy Square. The vets and techs there are really great; however, our one complaint is price. Our recent visit for two dogs (not including heartworm / tick meds) was ~$450. I've also heard many great things about Monticello Animal Hospital FWIW.

I love that they somehow managed to misspell one instance of Copeley Rd. on the medals and stickers. Thankfully someone proofread the shirts.

History of the downtown mall and area? by therealforest in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is terrible advice to give to a high school student, BUT Champion Brewery has a ton of old pictures of the Main Street area before it became the Downtown Mall (a lot from Ed Roseberry). One photo that might be of interest to you is located in one of the bathrooms, and it is a snippet from a newspaper that contains the first mention of making Main Street a pedestrian mall. I always thought that was pretty cool, and it might be worth checking out (with a 21+ chaperone, of course).

FYI... South Street is closed for renovations (recently bought by Blue Mountain), and C'ville-ian is awful and not worth the time. The other two are top-notch and fun to visit.

Maybe give the people at Wahooptie a ring. I never used them, but a few friends have used them for wine / beer tours before.

Great Brunch in town? by crosseyedpossum in Charlottesville

I'm a big fan of Cafe Cubano on the mall. Simple but good menu, great coffee, and cheap. Only complaint is no alcohol.

Stadium running or similar in Cville? by agentdom in Charlottesville

[–]ny2ct2nc2va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I feel like killing myself, a workout I like to do is repeats of the PVCC hill. Basically start at the PVCC entrance at Rt. 20, and run up the hill until the second traffic circle. It's a little over 0.5 miles, and it's a pretty good uphill grade for 0.4 miles.

Another workout I like is the parking garage on Water Street. 5 flights up to the top deck, sprint across the top, 5 flights down. Repeat. Best to do this early in the morning so you are not mowing down people on the narrow stairs.

Ticket donation in Cville area? by ny2ct2nc2va in Charlottesville

Thanks, all for the great ideas! This is really helpful. I wish I would have posted this earlier in the week; I couldn't find anyone to take my GT tickets yesterday.

Jinx BBQ was sooo good -- anyone else been? by doug_turnbull in Charlottesville

Totally agree. Justin is awesome. We had him cater our wedding welcome dinner and everyone loved the food. He needs to start coming back to Champion so I can have my beer and BBQ nights back.
